a true American treasure, her unpretentious, pure talent so many of us recall in her early 1970's debut in an America, so different from today, continued threw the decades to follow. A bluesy and soulful singer never afraid to tackle the many songwriters struggling for recognition, she championed her blues, folk, R&B, rock and soul hero's that just didn't get their due, so many taking advantaged of by the music industry. Bonnie did so much for the music industry by showcasing talent over flash and bringing memorable performances dealing with life and love's ups and downs in song. Her social activism all throughout her 50+ career is astonishing. Her other weapon in her talents were that slide guitar mastery and the way she just effortlessly struts the concert stage nightly and makes that guitar sing along with those songs, many dealing with so much emotions, she's featured that slide and vocal on dozens and dozens of recording artists from B.B. King-John Lee Hooker to Emmylou Harris, John Prine to Sippie Wallace, she cut through her cult status of the 1970's & 1980's and burst out to public awareness with her surprising Grammy wins in the 1990's with her songs Nick of Time, I'm in the mood w/John Lee Hooker, Thing called love, I can't make you love me, Love sneakin' up on you- to more recent covers and her own personal songwriting recognition with the Songwriter Grammy win two years ago with her own "Just like that", she continues to showcase her talents well into her 70's now but never slow'in down, much like her late father, John Raitt, who equally mastered the stage as a world class Broadway singer and entertainer, who graced the stage well into his 80's. Congrats to Bonnie Raitt for her exemplary career doing it her way and touching so many along the way. Bravo Bonnie-so well deserved!
My greatest dream is to meet Bonnie Raitt one day. She is coming to Memphis in 2025, and I hope to meet her. I ran for Governor of the State of Tennessee and one of her songs were my political theme song. This is my all-time favorite artist. If I was to get backstage to see her, I would literally pass out. Well-deserved honor. With her loving heart, she paid for Memphis Minnie's gravestone. Much love Bonnie Raitt.
is this the apprentice? The voice? Why are our politicians thinking they need to be our DJs and windows and Wiseman to the entertainment industry. This is sickening and wasteful. I don’t pay taxes, so Joe Biden can talk about Bonnie Raitt. Get in the White House and do something productive for crying out loud.
Good grief here's a bit of history for you, The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes artists for their contributions to American culture. The Gala is paid for by a grant established by Kennedy Center Program - NOT THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS. JFK was known as a president that appreciated the arts and how vital they are to this country. So the tradition to have the POTUS and FLOTUS is simply that - a tradition. There is also a dinner at the WH the night before and no we don't pay for that either. So Abby tell me you don't listen to music or go to the movies or to the theatre or to the ballet or go to jazz and R & B and Rock concerts. Also your attitude tells me you are too young to know who Bob Hope was, well he was the first celebrity to entertain during WWII. He started this tradition and our troops all over the world loved it. He was one of the first Kennedy Center Honorees BTW. Led Zeppelin was also honored and Robert Platt cried during the program. As far as Biden not doing anything, he has accomplished more as POTUS than any other since FDR. Just look up what his Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill has done for this country as well as the CHIP Bill and my insulin is now only $35 a month! The internet can be used for lots of things other than to condemn what you know nothing about.
You’d like to think that some of your favorite musical inspirations were independent and critical thinkers. Bonnie Raitt sits with the Biden’s. So disappointing… Is she compromised too? I didn’t think Bonnie needed all that. I thought she was just an artist.
Wonderful tribute to Bonnie! Her music is timeless and has healed and brought me so much joy!
Bonnie is amazing! Always and forever!
Killer guitarist 🎸 and what a cool person she is. Fantastic job, Bonnie! 💥💕
Congrats Bonnie 💪🏻🎉🫶🏻

love you forever Bonnie
❤
Note to Joe - Bonnie Raitt is a Blues artist first and foremost! Then you can add folk, country, rock and pop. Great slide guitarist as well.
Liza Minnelli needs to be honored too
Bruh Bonnie Raitt!
Love you Bonnie but when is Liza Minnelli going to be honored????
How about Liza Minnelli
можно ли представить трампа на такой церемонии!?может ли он говорить столь же красиво и правильно!?🤣
I was waiting for him to introduce Putin. Whew!
Putin is Trump's lover.
Can we please have a President who is under 100 years old for these things. Man I miss Obama.

Go have your tantrum somewhere else. For crying out loud.
