The Anaka and the Myrtle are both good engines. I worked with Dan Ranger when he was the Manager of the LKP&RR. I'm pleased to see that the Railroad is still providing fun rides for tourists and the local people. Lots of history here.
Gonna be in Maui over Christmas of next year and am REALLY hoping this outfit is back up and running by then. Playing golf in Kaanapali on New Year's Eve and having THIS be my ride back to Lahaina would be beyond awesome!
Interesting, Google presented this video only now (20230904) and the railroad was not running back in the day when I was TDY to Hawaii, and now I read there has been significant damage as a result of the fire. Wonderful video.
@Jethack737 The engineer, Chantell, she likes me! No, The staff is great, and will let you get as close as you dare. I just rode right up and started asking questions! What's new in Guam, Rick! AA closed the SFO pilot base so I'm the bottom FO in LAX/767/I- Hawaii runs for now... BK ROCKS!
Like the first coach, 'Willis B Kyle.' I met him in 1973 when he owned the Oregon Pacific & Eastern. You do get around, Juan! Hey, you need to go to Chama, New Mexico, and check out the Cumbres & Tol Tec operation.
It's hard to choose which engine I like better, Anaka is more colorful and fun, where as Myrtle is more clean and cool. They are both beautiful engines, it's hard to choose which one I like better. Myrtle has the better whistle, that's for sure. :)
The Engineer never cracked open the cylinder drain cocks when they left Puukoli Station after taking on water! There was water leaking from the cocks but they should have been opened when starting off-lucky they didn't blow the cylinder head covers off!
JamieI'm thinking I'm going to take a spin on Erica Webb's advice and conveniently email the group a checklist of dressing professionally that I found online and have one of the top suggestions be about keeping your shoes on. I'm not in direct communication with all of them every day so I feel it would be suspect if I all of the sudden discuss it directly, but I have passed along certain articles to them in the past.yyjg

It's all been cut up for scrap now.
Yea, cheap little pocket cam, I'm lucky I don't completely mute the mic w/ a fat finger. Maybe a little piece of foam over the mic opening...
Smart Move! I saw what looked like his name on the Grey Eagles list...Jimmy Jet...Check in!!!

Nice little locomotive!

Wasn't this locomotive featured on I love toy trains?
Juan is special he always gets up close :) Nice job You might get a wind screen on that mic once in awhile great clarity in the camera
This whole line with locos and all was put up for sale because the city doesn't want it there anymore.
Wow!!
That sucks that they closed SFO. You know Jimmy Jet retired a couple months before AA Filed?

Nice Juan. How come they let you get up close and personal with that thing? Or do they let anybody do that?
You be nice to them, and they'll be nice to you-simple as that!
This is how Hawaii gets rid of its used oil
I wish they would repaint the Myrtle back to the way she looked back in the early 90s.

I miss the Sugar Cane Train
Cool train, but am I the only one who noticed that the lead wheels are not turning?
+Tony Fain wow! you know...I think your right!
Well done Alex. You are correct!
Where can I find the song used in this?
On You Tube or Amazon :"Leaving Missouri "- Ry Cooder
A++ Video!
Banjo music? In Hawaii?! Really?
