This film is simply outstanding. It really provides a vital historic glimpse of how much effort and hard work was and is put in by volunteers over the years towards railway preservation in the UK. Those who ride the trains should watch this video to fully appreciate what goes in behind the scenes. I watched this because I plan to visit the W&LLR this summer, doing so will now make my experience much more meaningful. Much appreciated.
Wow, what a fantastic film. Pure history and great to see some of the W&LLR legends hard at work. Unfortunately slightly before my time at the W&L, I'll have to watch again to see all those I remember. The shots of Poona huffing and puffing in his unique style made me smile - a giant of a man and greatly missed.
@galbeadon Yes as you say a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes, but this is what keeps the wheels turning. Some of the members in this film are sadly no longer with use.
I first knew the railway late 60's with the Dewrey without the rear steps. Saw it on a video with them and thought it was a different loco. Still can't get used The Earl being black though.
Time moves on. It’s difficult getting used to The Earl being in Green now. I was in that track gang somewhere. It was, and still is, hard work, but I’ve never regretted joining such a great bunch of people. The W&L spirit lives on 👍
