Hi there, also enjoyed this video. I visited the line last year 2011 for the first time in 40 years. and was really impressed with the progress that had been made inthe intervening years. Llanfair no longer looked like a scrap yard and looked a whole lot more like a GWR branch line station. Well done to you showing it to us and well done WLLR for the improvements.
I remember those days well, and yes that was me changing train staff with driver at 15.48, also remember the October 1976 track week when we relaid Sylfean loop.
Thanks Nev for the info on Monarch, I joined about 1972/3 and started in the tea bar then on to guard, signal man, shop, booking office but never made it onto the diesel or steam locos. These were great days and very friendly, it was known as the friendly line.
Very much the friendly line. I started there early seventies and loved every minute of it 👍

Monarch is back at the W&LLR and is being stored back to running order.
In fact it could be back in service by now.
Forgot that Monarch had actually run there, it's been such a long time.
You have not changed much over the years Steve except for the hair.
