the scholars like anthony buzzard give the i am statements a completely different interpretation than christians. imagine applying the fard and ghareeb clasifications on john's i am statements .

Luke is being explicitly clear here that he is reporting the words of others, not himself. He's saying that other people wrote down what witnesses said and "handed them down to us."
Luke is not saying he is writing things that he saw or actually "happened among us" in the present tense, he is saying he is writing about what is "affirmed and believed
