I never did get a Black Bomber, but I had several years of fun riding a Honda CB77 in the 60s/70s. Great days
In highschool I was jealous of one of my buddies . He was about 5"6" tall and looked great on his CB450 proportion wise . I on the other hand standing 6"2" tall
just looked silly on my 250 Scrambler .
I bought one of these new from long beach honda long beach calif. 1966. They corrected the mixture tracking of the carbs and it put out 46hp on their dyno. Loved it. drove it over 60k miles before selling it to a neighbor because I had a wife and 2 little children to raise. best wishes for your restoration to come out well.

I owned a 1966 450 for about 6 years. (That's it in my pic.) I got it when it was 3 years old. Interesting to see the starter wiring going into a hole in the handlebar. Tidy, but it weakened the bar. I had a cover over mine and it blew over in a gale and the bar cracked at that point. It had a great engine - smooth dohc, no valve springs (torsion bars twisted back and forth) 180 degree cranks and cv carbs, but it was't all that fast - just over 90 mph. It was a good tourer but apart from the engine it was nothing special. My old bike is in another yt video, in great condition. In the UK it was sold with siver grey mudguards and side panels.

Wish I had the skill and know how of how to restore one of these beautiful bikes. 1969 CB450 K1 is my dream bike. One day. :-)

Black Bomber ou Bombardeiro negro é a primeira moto de alta cilindrada da honda, produzida de 1965 a 1976, duplo comando no cabeçote que naquela epoca era restrito a motos de corrida, outra novidade foi que as molas de válvulas não eram helicoidais, eram por barra de torção, uma verdadeira revolução no mundo das motociletas.

Not the best idea to rev the thing that high right after startup, until the oil warms up to get it up into those dual overhead cams.

I have a 1966 Honda CB 450 my grandfather gave me with about 6 thousand miles on it. It started up when we tried it but it needed new carbs and his for some reason has alot more chrome and some pitting on it. Both fenders, the air cover, the engine guard and the rack on the back have some pitting and I really don't want to send them off to be re chromed. How would you recommend fixing the chrome? Also what resources were you able to find about taking the bike apart and putting it back together?
Buy a service manual. TH-cam is a good resource on how to do stuff, even restoring old chrome, but if the chrome is gone, its gone. How perfect do you want it to be?
Its not in bad shape its semi easy and not deep but there is alot of chrome on the bike that its going to take awhile to do it right, I dont want it perfect just street worthy.
May I ask where you got those mufflers
The mufflers are take off from a Harley Sportster
Did you have to modify to put them on?
