- Introduced at the 1936 Paris Motor Show, the Friedrich Geiger designed car was a development to the 500K, itself a development of the SSK. Available as a two seater cabriolet, four seater coupé or seven seater limousine with armoured sides and armoured glass, it was one of the largest cars of the time.
The straight-8 cylinder engine of the 500K was increased to 5,401 cubic centimetres (329.6 cu in), which aspirated by twin pressurized updraft carburetors, developed a natural 115 hp (86 kW). However, there was an attached Roots supercharger which could either be engaged manually for short periods, or automatically when the accelerator was pushed fully to the floor. This increased power to 180 hp (130 kW), creating a top speed of 170 kilometres per hour (110 mph).Manufacturer

was sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed or optional five speed manual gearbox that featured synchromesh on the top three gears. Vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes kept the car under the driver's control.
The 540K had the same chassis layout at the 500K, but was significantly lightened by replacing the girder-like frame of the 500K with oval-section tubes - an influence of the Silver Arrows racing campaign.
To meet individual wishes of customers, three chassis variants were available as for the 500K: two long versions with a 3,290 mm (130 in) wheelbase, differing in terms of powertrain and bodywork layout; and a short version with 2,980 mm (117 in). The long variant, termed the normal chassis with the radiator directly above the front axle, served as the backbone for the four-seater cabriolets 'B' (with four side windows) and 'C' (with two side windows), and for touring cars and sedans. The shorter chassis was for the two-seater cabriolet 'A,' set up on a chassis on which radiator, engine, cockpit and all rearward modules[clarification needed] were moved 185 mm (7.3 in) back from the front axle.
The Sindelfingen factory employed 1,500 people to create the 540K, and allowed a great deal of owner customisation, meaning only 70 chassis were ever bodied by independent builders. Owners included Jack Warner of Warner Brothers film studios.
With the outbreak of World War II in 1939, the proposed further boring-out of the engine to 5,800 cubic centimetres (5.8 l) for a 580K was aborted, probably after only one such car was made. Chassis production ceased in 1940, with the final 2 being completed that year, and earlier chassis were still being bodied at a steady rate during 1940, with smaller numbers being completed in the 1941-1943 period. Regular replacement bodies were ordered in 1944 for a few cars.

Galactic Modeler I both that car fully loaded light sys included only thing I need to replace speed controlled one speed only, full speed all the time I wan to be able to go slow without stopping and staring all the time. Thanks Buddy

Wow what a beauty.. Amazing to see that so many years ahead they're still using the same naming platform (The 'W' platform). Personally I would've went with the Mercedes W31 typ G4. All time favourite and one of the most unique car till this day other than the 6x6 G class LOL. Aside from that amazing job!
The Mercedes-Benz W31 typ G4 was a German three-axle off-road vehicle first produced by Mercedes-Benz as a staff/command car for the Wehrmacht in 1934. Only 57 were produced. In the future this will be the car to build for sure but the 540 k limousine was the first car with armoured sides and armoured glass.

Yeah, I bought a 1/6 motorcycle once that didn't make it in one piece as well :P Easy fix, but there was this one plastic piece that I couldn't figure out where put LOL! Do you know a site that sell 1/6 vehicles? Im looking for a car that looks like the police cars in the original Robocop movie. I want to build a diorama piece for my Hot Toys Robocop figure. It doesn't have to be remote controlled though, as it will be totally stationary. Im planning to reblicate the movie cover where he steps out of the car. Not sure what type it is, as they probably call it something else in the movie...

I’m having a hard time finding this car in 1/6 scale only 1/5 scale appears. Is this really a 1/5?
I have two issues with this, they say it is a 1/5 scale and as you know 1/5 is bigger scale then 1/6 I believe the scale is between 1/6 and 1/5 not true to the full scale car the interior of the car still small for a 1/6 figures you have to bent the foot and they really don't fit properly look good when the door are close this is a beautiful car I believe he was built to fit Remote control in those days more then to be true scale but he look fantastic. The company who built say on the box 1/5 scale look the part to both scale as a 1/6 scale but to my believe this is not a truly 1/6 or 1/5 scale let me explain the car is so small inside to be 1/5 scale figures they will never fit and I have really got hard time to fit a 1/6 scale figures and and the outside body a bit too big to be 1/6 from the measurement
all to say because we are talking true scale for me the scale from this car is more 1/6 scale because of the 1/6 scale figures. The car is not a true scale 1/5 or a true scale 1/6 the wheels and the inside of the car are closer to 1/6 and body closer to 1/5 but they sell it as 1/5 scale. To me I use it as a 1/6 scale I made other 1/6 scale car in my collection just fit great with the others. This company built a beautiful car but not 100% scale to me look Wonderfull as 1/6 scale nobody can tell the different call it the scale you wan and your right.😊Thanks for watching

I find the battery pack good it fit properly in the car the 12" Action figures fit tight in the car but it fit and Thank you for watching.

+47lincsled It worth the money beautiful car the only downfall and i fix it is the speed control start at full speed but you replace this and this is not really expensive you have really good looking car.

Hi i found similar selling as second hand it looks in good condition but it missing the remote control. Please can you tell me how it cost so i can try to get it for good deal?. The owner was asking for £80
if it is a1/5 to 1/6 scale it is cheap even without the remote if the car is in good shape ?
@@LorenzoJalbert yes it is 1:5 scale around meter long has no remote control and the Mercedes logo broken not on it otherwise the body is like new as the owner use it as display only. Even me when i sow it i thought it car model from burago till he told me it should come with remote control and i discovered a lot about it from your video.

To me it is a very good price the car can be easily transform to remote control to sell it back the way he is you can double your money they are very rare car and I'm very surprise that you find one it is a good deal :-)

To me it is 1/6 the action figures fit just right but they say is a 1/5 ? I did not take any measurement of the full scale and compare with this car to be 100% sure of the true scale but to be fair I do scratch built and my vehicles are very close to 1/6 scale but to tell you they are 100% right I will not say that it just take a small different feature to change everything even big companies who built 1/6 scale are very close but I won say 100% .Thanks for watching.
