      Did you notice how pliable the outer leaf is? How when he stretches it it wants to retract just a bit? I would imagine the humidity level in the factory is around 70-75% minimum, if not actually higher.

      The wrapper is actually moistened so that they are pliable.

    What is it that the cigar roller periodically dips their fingers in? It obviously has some sort of adhesive quality, I'm just curious what it is.

    • @Rickos1996
      @Rickos1996 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's a mixture of tree sap and water, when boiled and mixed it creates a colorless, odorless adhesive that has been used in cigar making since the beginning.

      Crazy the amount of knowledge that can be gained in a relatively short period. Not only do I now know about the various glues used (Bermacol, fruit pectin, etc.), I can roll a cigar that not only has good flavor, but a decent burn quality.

      its either pectin, gum arabic, or bermocoll which all are odorless, tasteless, cigar glues used to keep the cigar together.

      Some kind of sugarcane based Sirup. A German cigar channel flew in a Cuban cigarmaker and filmed him at his work. They explained every step of his. But it’s in German so I think a link wouldn’t help you out

    Davidoff is one of the most expensive brands out on the market. Great cigars, but super high price point. I wouldn't stop shopping at a local store because of that, I'd stop so I would have to pay NYC taxes lol.

      Yup.. I do order some online, but I still support my local b&m. I spend as much or more there as I do online. Especially because I can see what I'm buying, I know it's fresh, and I can try things immediately. Not to mention the whole supporting local business aspect. It's worth it to pay a little more.

    i know it is a dumb question but does this cigar contain nicotine? like regular cigarettes? e.g malboro

    • @xtasee
      @xtasee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roni Doria it's natural, unbleached nicotine without any of the carcinogenic additives of cigarettes

    • @LeonAllanDavis
      @LeonAllanDavis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cigar leaf undergoes a curing process that can last from a few months to a few years. The leaves are put into bales and compressed. This naturally produces heat. After a couple-three months the bales are taken apart and reassembled. More pressure and more heat. Not hot, just nice and warm.
      The warmth reduces the nicotine in cigar tobacco to practically nothing. Maybe 3 to 5% - if that. But the natural sugars in the leaf grow and concentrate and that makes the flavor..
      The same phenomenon is at work in hay barns. If the hay is baled while it is still damp, then put in the barn, the hay can get hot enough to spontaneously combust. Lots of hay barns have been burnt down because the hay was baled wet.
      Cigarette tobacco is not baled. Just hung in the open air to cure.

    • @darthvader793
      @darthvader793 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      1 cigar equals about 27 cigarettes… lots of nicotine.

    • @LeonAllanDavis
      @LeonAllanDavis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Stewart Wrong. Cigars have very little nicotine. It's lost in the heat caused by the fermenting processing.

    • @darthvader793
      @darthvader793 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leon Davis Leon Davis please point me to a medical research paper proving that. Send me the link. Please. Everything I have researched and went to school for says that is absolutely absurd. 1 cigar depending on the size can have 7-10x more nicotine in it. A cigarette only has around 1mg. You can clearly Google "cigars have less nicotine than cigarettes?" And this is Googles answer: "Nicotine. Cigars, like cigarettes, contain nicotine, the substance that can lead to tobacco dependence. A single full-size cigar can contain nearly as much nicotine as does a pack of cigarettes. If you inhale cigar smoke, you can get as much nicotine as if you smoked cigarettes.Jul 13, 2016"
      So Leon... what kind of cigars are you smoking 😂😂 they must be some weak hybrid cigars from another planet.

      you would be suprised actually, most Davidoff lines are made using the liberman machine. only the very top of their line is even rolled by hand.

      these were "fresh rolled" by one of the guys that does tours, the actual cigar rollers do a much better job and the pictures we see is after the cigar has been sitting around aging for a few years.

    • @AD-kv9kj
      @AD-kv9kj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Davidoffs really are - the main thing you get for their high premium is very consistent firm rolled cigars with an easy draw. The Millennium blends have some complexity of nice flavour but it's rather dry and has a pervading subtle bitterness. There isn't much progression of flavour profile through the smoke either.
      The Davidoff Millennium robusto size costs more than a Cuban Cohiba Robusto, which is far better but also, still, a little over-priced!

      dude, all leaves are that dry when bunching. there is nothing wrong with it, and the leaves are actually all very good quality, you can see that they dont have many holes or blemishes in them as he is bunching them. you cannot get a good cigar if your leaves are too moist when bunching them and rolling.
