Our group is all old-fer's over 50. We had (literally--no REALLY) 1,000s of painted GW 40K figures from the old editions we NEVER had on the table UNTIL we discovered this game about 5 years ago. Still our 28mm skirmish sci-fi of choice.
I will probably look into this rule-set so I can make use of all the old 40k minis I have. Looks fun and simple enough that it will make it worth bringing those minis out of storage.
Keep these coming. You just earned a sub. Love the friendly banther between you too. Great report all around very entertaining. Only suggestion maybe put some music in the back ground, you have some cute fire edits so it should be to much more. Thank you!
Cool battle report! Just note that the blast have changed and is now: "Blast(X): Ignores cover and multiplies hits by X, but can’t deal more than one hit per model in the target unit"
We debated whether that rule applied to a single destroyer or to the entire unit. Now that you mention it though, I do think the latter makes more sense. Otherwise the destroyers are pretty lethal.
Each hit from a Destroyer with a blast weapon can score hits on that number, so if say you had 4 hits on a unit with only 2 Berserkers remaining, it would still be 8 wounds - each hit could cause as many wounds as there are models in the unit, not each Destroyer.
You get one sub! Comment: the rules mention that if you are playing with a small table then halve the measurements so the combat is closer. I usually play like that (so basically moving 6" and shooting 12") and it changes the dynamic. Take a test!
I didn't see any comments specifying it so just incase, yoy do morale after all the fighting. Just like if a tank is shooting all its weapons after you, you do it after it fired everything.
Hi. Wouldn't you have to roll for morale for the Havoc Brothers after one of them dies to the Missile Launcher since they are (again) under half strength? And shouldn't the Havoc Brothers have first move on round 3, since they activated last on round 2?
I love this battle report! So much fun and flavour whilst still being such a simple rules system. However, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that when you charge, you only hit on 6’s because of fatigue(?)
You're right, fatigued happens after a unit has fought in melee once in a round. If you got charged, fought back, survived and chose to charge you'd be fatigued but if you don't fight back or if you're first to charge you'd be fine. :D
You only need one morale check in melee. Loser takes morale check. You only take morale check from losing half in shooting only. And units don't route in melee, only pinned.
Page 11: "If the unit has taken the morale test because it lost in melee and it has half or less as many models or tough value (for units with a single model) as it started the game with, then it Routs."
@@oldhammered That is for the result of combat. Failing morale test in combat has two results depending on number of casualties. Less than half means they are pinned. More than half, they are routed. Shooting only pins, regardless of number of casualties. It's on page 10, combat results.
I thought the Destroyers came in groups of 5, with heavy exo suits in 3s? Not sure what models are representing them though. I would take the destroyers as terminator models though?
Hi John. According to OPR Army Forge (looking at it now), Destroyers deploy in groups of 3 and the Heavy Exo-Suit deploys solo. We assumed Destroyers matched up with Terminators because of the energy hammer option.
The GDF rules PDF I have is v2.15. In the PDF Battle Brothers list, Destroyers deploy in groups of five and have a base cost of 490 points, while in the Army Forge app (v2.50) they deploy in groups of three and have a base cost of 255 points. That does make them easier to deploy in a smaller game, but frankly we're just using the app because it's convenient.
For info for the squad of 3 instead of 5, its a design choice the designer made that Though 3 units ( 3 hp) would be in group of 3, barring exceptions.
Hi Drew. That mat has apparently been trimmed down from a larger mat, so I don’t know the manufacturer. Probably Frontline Gaming or Tablewar if I had to guess.

Our plastic Rogue Trader beakies are looking forward to a Grimdark Future.
Fun battle report!
Morale tests in melee happen at the end of the combat (after both sides make their attacks).

A lot of fun to watch. Thank you for making this vid.
Excellent report. Love the camerawork and all the great terrain and such. Gotta love One Page Rules with its alternate activation and quick game play.
Very nice vid. Honestly GDF is so light to play that is impossible not to like

Thank you for all reviews of miniature games.
Morale in Melee only for the loosing side (and only once)
love the terrain. love Grimdark Future. The black templars (I mean "Battle Brothers") look fantastic. Enjoyed the battle report. More please.
Great job. I've been playing since June '21. 35 games in and loving it. Nice to see more content coming out in numerous places. Keep it up!
Fun to see this one get played, I gotta make time to paint up more old chaos marines
Excellent narrative, and great game, you guys play so well together.
Cool battle report!

Idk smells like musical wounds to me. Before this change you wittled a multiple would models from a unit one at a time.
Each hit from a Destroyer with a blast weapon can score hits on that number, so if say you had 4 hits on a unit with only 2 Berserkers remaining, it would still be 8 wounds - each hit could cause as many wounds as there are models in the unit, not each Destroyer.
Great battle report! Also loving the added special effects :)
"a smaller table so we put more terrain" *giggles in war havoc brother close combat advantage*
Love the effects you've added. They're lovely.
Man I love this channel.
Again another great enjoyable battle report! Thanks
One page rules proves why we don't need gw anymore
You get one sub!

OnePageRules!
New sub here.. Keep up the one page rules!!
Yay, I love seeing games of the fun rules you find, or that have found you, lol.
Y'all always seem to have fun, and that's the whole point, isn't it?
Ah, I wanted to add, I really enjoy the VFX you add to the videos, that extra bit makes them even more fun.
"what would Havoc Brothers do"? cry "Havoc" and unleash the dogs of war!
very enjoyable , thank you :)
The Gallagher ref 😂

Also moral in melee is only taken by the unit that lost the melee. So only the destroyes had to take morale, not the berserkers.

Hi Oscar. I thought fatigue kicked in after the first time a squad fights in CC, but I will recheck the rules.
You're right, fatigued happens after a unit has fought in melee once in a round. If you got charged, fought back, survived and chose to charge you'd be fatigued but if you don't fight back or if you're first to charge you'd be fine. :D
Great game! Play it alot on my channel too.
A very nice game !
Wonderful to see a GDF battrep.. I'm a new subscriber! Hope to see more in the future
Welcome to the channel. We're shooting our next game of GDF tomorrow. Cheers!
This was great

the grey city terrain can you buy that still?
Yep. That’s Battlefield in a Box gothic scenery from Gale Force Nine.

@@oldhammered I haven't used the army forge app, just the main PDF on the site. Which version of the rules are you using? Is it the open Beta?
The GDF rules PDF I have is v2.15. @@oldhammered The app is the up to date, more balanced and recommended version to use. And yes Destroyers are Terminators.

Whats that battle mat from?
Hi Drew. That mat has apparently been trimmed down from a larger mat, so I don’t know the manufacturer. Probably Frontline Gaming or Tablewar if I had to guess.
A little background music might liven this up a bit. Good stuff otherwise
Good riddance GW crunch rules and yearly editions!
