    You know, ......I really like that you did this. Most people are tired of being shown the touristy things and expatriate experiences. What many of us really want to see is what it is like to really live in Belize. It is so kind of you and cool to see you do regular day to day things. it is really authentic.

    The fruit from the fruit stands is the best in the world! I swear! Plus they always have new fruits I've never seen in North America!

    Great info, especially for travelers staying at a house for a week or 2. Being able to get fresh groceries at reasonable costs and making some meals can help with the budget. Or if you are living here the best places so you have options.

    I found SuperBuy to be one of the more expensive stores I visited. Most of the healthier items I like to buy were less costly at Greenhouse Market and in better condition. SuperBuy seems to mostly focus on North American imported items. Which, as you said, are much more costly. Like $8+ US for a box Cheerios. Buying groceries in San Pedro was at least double the cost of what I'm used to paying at home. And I'm not just speaking of the obviously more costly imported items. It's also crucial to pay very close attention to the expiration date on pre-packaged items. I found many that were 6 months to a year or so past the expiration.

      Definitely is one of the pricier places. I am a big fan of the greenhouse market for the exact reasons you stated!

    I think 1stop is very pricey I don't cook much when I'm there I normally go to backstreet's to locals for for my lunches. There is a lady catty-corner from Caribbean chicken she sells good tacos in morning normally gone by after as is the case with most good food stops on the street- places close for lunch.

    Trying to stick to local goods is the same need everywhere. What about online ordering from sites like Amazon? Electronics?

    • @WillMitchellBelize
      @WillMitchellBelize  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dovy, you can order from Amazon but it does require a little more effort to get it here. I order to Hyde Shipping in Miami and then they ship it down here to Belize for me

      @@WillMitchellBelize By the way if there a lot of Canadians coming down in the winter then it can't be all that humid since at least in Alberta there is very little humidity, and people in Alberta don't like humid places!

  • @EgilWar
    @EgilWar 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The green oranges are great. All meat is frozen and not great. Chicken seems to be your best bet. The bakeries are a bit of a joke in that they seem to use the same flour/recipe for all breads. The vegetables are great but you need to buy them when they get delivery from the mainland. Don't buy any imported goods, if you have a local option.

    How do people get to San Pedro Ambergris from Canada? Do you need a car or can you hire drivers to help? How is life without a car in SP?

    • @WillMitchellBelize
      @WillMitchellBelize  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am originally from Canada so it is quite common for Canadians to make their way down here. We have seasonal direct flights with Westjet out of Calgary and Toronto and if those aren't flying then you would take a stop in either Houston, Dallas or Miami. As for the no car situation it really depends on how far you're transiting everyday. For the most part things are in close proximity in town and the golf carts work just fine for those small trips. If you're someone who works at a resort in the far North then it is a more tedious drive

    • @dovygoodguy1296
      @dovygoodguy1296 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WillMitchellBelize Retired folks in golf carts as a form of local transportation.?! That's cute. And flights directly from Calgary to San Pedro? I'm amazed. They don't even have direct flights to Cuenca Ecuador or Guadalajara. We'll be moving to Calgary soon as a matter of fact. I'm from there originally.

    Awesome video man...**Weird question alert**...OK, so i am a carnivore, i eat a 100% animal based diet. No fruit, veggies, breads...etc....Do you have "meat markets" on the island where you can get fresh or frozen ground beef(mostly what i eat), Ribeye steak, filet mignon...etc??
