Could it be that, when Mars had water, that water gave Mars enough mass to maintain an atmosphere? Then a catastrophic event caused Mars to lose either a lot of water, or a lot of atmosphere. Possible an asteroid. And then the feedback loop took over.
Eric Henderson all planets interact with each other..each are balanced by the other and effect each other...just for instance...Jupiter is so large that its gravitational pull takes comets out of our trajectory...each orbit, puts the orbits of the others into balance and allows for a stable rotation..its quite beautiful
@@mccalltrader But quite unnecessary as far as life on earth is concerned. Same applies to the billions of other stars in our galaxy and the billions of other galaxies.
Eric Henderson I would disagree with that..at least for our solar system and galaxy, every space body provides mass which influences the orbit of the other..the system is all very cleverly balanced and dependent on the others..we are a Goldilocks planet and all the stuff around us has a part in making it possible

And the politicians say, finger to lips...shush
So, if god put earth just the right distance from the sun for life, what was the point of the other eight planets?
