    for those who dont understand Wing Chun, this is a tool that will help you to leave situations of confrontation, not to engage in violent fights, like mma teaches the youngsters nowadays. this enables the practitioner security and peace, and best of all, it is designed so you wont get hit.

      +Wladimir Illischkowitsch Lenin why are you denying it? He has taught hundreds of professional fighters over 60 years.
      Are you upset that his art isn't fully original? It's a thousand years old and still used because it works!

      Well it's my expierience. I know a lot people who trained under cheung some of them beeing even high ranked and most of them changed to wong shun leung system... cheung is not a good wc system in my opinion, especially when youlook at cheungs personal history. And of course he is the only one who ever proclaimed himself as a grandmaster, there is no other Yip Man student who woulddeclare himself a "grandmaster". Onlyvfakers do that, to make more money with westerners.

    • @sootheater
      @sootheater 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wladimir Illischkowitsch Lenin which system is better is a legitimate argument. By why is "grandmaster" title supposed to be so elusive? Isn't it just someone who is qualified to train others in master level?

    Its lovely to see William's Sil lum Tao, I do not want to be that guys, but I note he left out some explainations and subtle movement in this rendition. However - that being said, if you're aussie then this is the Sil lum tao you will be doing (in 99% of cases) big ups to whoever filmed this

    Why do people verbally fight over which style of Wing Chun is superior or why is this different from that? I have studied 6 different Wing Chun masters performing Sil Lim Tao and they are all slightly different based on their experience and knowledge or use.
    Perhaps instead of arguing you should go and master Ip Man, Ip Chun, William Cheung, Gary Lam, Wong Shun Leung or anyone else's forms of Sil Lim Tao and only once you have mastered them and understood the meaning behind the movements can you then choose what works best for you alone.
    In my experience good Kung Fu is not about strictly following tradition but to learn something which best works for you. Of course to do this you have to know the original form.
    By the way I do know the story of William Cheung claiming his style was truly the correct form and was taught to him secretly. However claiming it as the greatest was his hubris. Don't make it yours too.
    P.s. Personally I prefer this form over others as I am slightly shorter than the average around here so the high hand positions guard better against taller people and the lower fook sau is harder for a taller person to turn into an arm lock and, for me, it controls the arm better.

      Use your footwork not your body when facing all opponents.Tall ones make this principle come to life because you feel fatigued where you shouldn't have.Check with your sifu for reference.For such a large statement, to down play someone you appriciate at the same time makes you sound hypocritical and looses your entire arguement.

      There are many different lineages of Wing Chun KUNG FU. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. It is best to learn from a qualified instructor and train with as many different schools as possible. You will find each Master will have a different view of the applications of Wing Chun. And different strengths and weaknesses. Use what works best for you. Learn the basics of the system so you can find what works for you. Kung Fu is not a destination, it's the journey that forges the. Warrior

      I would prefer this Wing Chun because Grandmaster Cheung explains every moves in the form and Modified version don't . I Learned the Modified version and I know from Experience , I could show you the Form and Explain the Movement with the applications .

    • @puddingfaustvt
      @puddingfaustvt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pastorvidro4174 The Form has no Application. It is like an alphabet not like a skillbook. Also "Master" Cheung is doing nearly everything wrong here.

      @@puddingfaustvt You wrong the have applications and I can prove it too . Grandmaster Cheung is honest about Wing Chun compare to those practicing Modified version . I Started with Modified and I tell you they don't teach application of the form .

    • @ianweir2115
      @ianweir2115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simple. When do any fighters slide their feet? Wing Chun is semi circle stepping, just like Xing I, Ba qua. Modified systems slide their feet. Early masters only wanted worth students to learn the truth.
      In traditional Wing Chun, every single movement has to be explained. It has to make sense. Sliding your feet? Michael Jackson made a fortune doing it ,but I doubt he could fight doing that!

    The Wing Chun community has always had it's internal politics and conflicts and many focus on this sifu but I think if you objectively look at his theories and concepts and try them out with other Wing Chun people you can tell if they will work or not .
    That won't necessarily prove that everything he claims about himself is true even if his concepts are sound , for that you'll have to do research on him .

    • @inhometraineroakville1174
      @inhometraineroakville1174 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The theories and concepts are sound, but they are nof unique to his system. Centreline, elbow control, blindside strategy, economy of motion, all those things are present in all Wing Chun systems. When you really understand it, you see how similar they all are in application. Foshan Wing Chun looks quite different as well, but the core principles are the same. The problem and controversy with William Cheung is his claim that Ip Man taught him and only him the real traditional Wing Chun. This means that he intentionally taught everyone else, including both his sons, bullshit Wing Chun. Quite a ridiculous claim to make.

      if one have the discipline to workout everyday, one could overcome bigger fighters, as any other martial art, the beauty of Wing-Chung is that is all based on ones own limitations, that say, one can balance it to overcome one owns limitations.
      again this is not a brutal fighting style, in fact is peaceful and with time one develops balance and from balance, power.

    Wow, talk about hammer fist punches - terrible Siu Lum Tao!

    • @MohammadJK197
      @MohammadJK197 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** There's no such a thing as terrible Siu Lim Tao. All different versions of it can lead to the truth behind Wing Chun as long as a practitioner honestly and sincerely practices everyday and ponders the meaning behind every moment. This is the difference between Chinese Martial arts and Western arts such as Boxing; you don't just follow as you are told but are challenged to think and feel for yourself until realization is achieved.

    • @sootheater
      @sootheater 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Khurram Saleem the punches in Siu Lum Tao are among the strongest punches because they use ALL THE BACK MUSCLES. Pun to the side and you only use a fraction of them! You clearly know nothing about martial arts or basic physiology!

    • @khurramsaleem1207
      @khurramsaleem1207 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sootheater I don't have time for noob comments. Yes Siu Lim Tao are veyr strong punches - IF DONE CORRECTLY - which the person in this video is not doing!

    • @khurramsaleem1207
      @khurramsaleem1207 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohammad K Thanks - I have pondered upon this practitioners form and have come to the realization that it is terrible. His fist turns to the side on his chest and then goes up and down to strike - that is what is known as HAMMER FIST. It leaves a gap in his defence (which if you know wing chun it should not leave). Anyway, this topic is old move along folks.
