In my divorce, I was not entitled to his restored car or land holdings, but he was entitled to half of the value of my financial accounts from the date of the marriage.

Saying that, here in England (I am going back some years here) my Brother's Gym-Master at his School was having an affair. When he said he wanted her gone out of the house, protagonist should've had a strong rebuttal because she inherited the house from her father. Instead the writer thought making it a suspense by not mentioning it would sound good, but it sounds too crappy and idiotic.
That's why a writer is supposed to have a GOOD imagination. I've only seen one or two that come up with decent storylines. Ash Texts is the best I've seen so far.
She may not get alimony, though the lawyer could argue that the frigging weasel wasn't contributing to the household during Mary's illness; therefore forcing even more stress and financial hardship upon her while she fought to save her own life. He needed to cover those costs like a decent husband *would*.
