  • European Hornets are an invasive species in the United States which can grow up to two inches in length with nests that can rival the size of small children. This nest measured in at close to 3 ft tall and, when they ran out of room, they ate through the bedroom drywall to expand their nest

    Great video, thanks!! However, in the future, t would be helpful to let us amateurs know what powder/dust you use and where to get it. Also, it would have been a good idea to tape that flap out of your way while you work! Also, we couldn't help noticing all of the nest pieces and larvae you let just fall to the floor on the INSIDE of the wall. I'm sure the family would wonder as well - why didn't you use your vacuum to clean all of it out??? AND, not to judge or anything, but do you not have anything larger than that little tiny vacuum? I would want to use one with a longer hose to reach to the bottom of the opening, plus it seemed you got clogged due to the sizer of the hose and vacuum, PLUS the attachment seemed way too small for this type of hornet.
    AND MOST OF ALL: You barely mentioned the QUEEN!! You have to know that we commoners are always obsessed with royalty. How many are there? You say that the males don't do any work. Do you mean only the drones?? What are the other males?? You mentioned that a queen is needed to produce females - is she the ONLY one who produces larvae?? Are there other females? What do THEY do?? It seems you implied that the females do all the work. Or did you just mean the workers (both males AND female?). I realize this isn't a class on the societal structure of hornets, but while you're mentioning the queen, the males, the workers, the larvae, the female...it would help to add a couple sentences of info for each while you are gleefully crunching the life out of these fascinating creatures.
    Keep the videos coming - very informative and entertaining :D. Thanks!!

    Would it not made things easier to take a piece of tape to the cardboard and tape it to the door temporarily instead of letting it flap in your way?

    Cedar oil will kill bees real quick too. It also makes them drop from flight because their wings can't work when coated with oil. You really don't want to get cedar oil in your eyes though, so spray thoughtfully. Poor mike getting his head buzzed by a romulan warbird while he's trying to fight bees lol XD

      I typically use tempo. The dust isn't as important as getting some air pressure behind it though which is the chief benefit of a professional. Try some local exterminators, they're often cheaper than you'd think

    Powder is good if ya going to remove after 24 hours same day removals I prefer to inject CB-80 into the hole seal it back up wait 20 minutes if it's late in the season I'll also puff some drion on the outside of there entrance.

    • @TheBeeMan
      @TheBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you get the dust on them it doesn't really matter how long you wait. I dust first and then get my equipment ready, which gives it 10-15 minutes to set in. As long as you clean up whatever flies inside you still get them all just the same. I leave dust in the cavity for the ones out getting food
      It's a way to be more efficient without sacrificing effectiveness

    Very slow moving video. Saw more of the hornet helper’s back than anything. Very very bad to not have furniture out…. Or some furniture out. And have clothing, drapes, window shades if present plus all bedding and clothes. Should have big drop cloths down on floor to protect carpet from powder. I would NOT want my kids to enter the room, much less sleep in the room, touch anything in there or wear clothes, touch any bedding. Adults or kids: not safe. What about a quality air cleaner to run for a couple of days!

      Funny you should mention that. We had our old basement door replaced by a contractor, and shortly after we were seeing ants everywhere upstairs above the door. Come to find out the old door frame had gaps under the sill and the ants made a colony inside the wall we weren't aware of. The new door frame sealed their entryway and trapped them inside. They were just trying to find another way outside and attracted to any area lit up. It wouldn't have been too good for us if stinging insects had been trapped inside instead, so I know exactly what you are saying.
