I did intensive research, used price match with a major retailer and achieved a very favorable price for a stage 4 88 keys. The effort pays off. So do your high quality productions.
A few years ago our church was in the market for a new keyboard. As 1 of 3 players I had some input. We checked the Nord, along with the Roland, Yamaha, Korg, and went with the Kurzweil PC3X. This and the Nord were both "investments", but 2 of us come from Kurzweils, so it was an easy move. Both the PC3 and the Nord were EXCELLENT boards, and it actually came down to these 2. I think our combined familiarity with the platform was the final deciding factor. Nord is a great board though.
I would never call it overkill. It seems very handy for both stage, church, and studio. At the same time, I think I would do the customary bang for buck calculation and walk away with a YC-88 for stage and church. For studio, I would use a MPC Key 61 with a Roland Fantom, Roland Integra 7, Yamaha Montage, or Korg Nautilus. I chose the Integra 7 myself. The Nord is brilliant. I could buy one today and not skip a beat financially. It need not even provide a return on the investment. At the same time, I just couldn’t do it. It’s not the Nord, it’s me. I would look at it all the time wondering what I could’ve done with the money.
I'm curious to know how your custom pad sound is made. Is there pitch shifted reverb in the sound and is that what contributes to alot of the modern sound? I don't own a nord so I'm trying to create the sounds by other means. What type of reverb and decay time and what is pitch shifted (1 octave, 2 octaves, both?). thanks and really enjoyed the video!
Appears to be a great board but in my opinion........ Its 30% overpriced. The patches sound very good but I achieve those on my K2700 easily. Although...I will say I think the pianos on the Nord are slightly better but not worth the extra dollars especially when in a Church setting they may not translate as as clean as they do in a studio type environment. Also, the K2700 has the built in sequencer if you use that and it can be had for 3K.

Great playing and voicings by the way. I liked that string sound too. I agree with Nord not being strong in that area. Your patch sounded great.
We bought the NS4 for church and use it with multiple bands. Really like the video's with your sounds and tips.
I play at church as well and my church doesn't have NORD, cool to know that the product is robust ! Great video! Tks a lot !
These sounds are very beautiful and edifying.

I'd love to see a tutorial on getting the shimmer effect on the NS4!

What I can do to find it
Set up a pedal to change the Leslie speed and free up your hands.
Haha yes, that would be ideal! 😄
Great vids. Thnx
1 Reason that it's not great for me is I don't have money to buy it 😅
Piano playing without the dynamics hurts the ears. Thank you for the info.
too expensive!
Too much money to don’t have an integrated audio interface
10 reasons Fantom 08 is better
