If you want to dive deeper into American made moccasin boots, two other brands that I own are Rancourt and Gokey. Unfortunately, you started your journey at the apex. Gokey, in particular, makes an excellent example. I purchased all my boots through resellers - except for the Parkhurst in Spruce Kudu. I had to have those now. The video was worth the time invested to watch. Thanks for the excellent content.
Thanks and appreciation from South Africa. Excellent video and insightful conversation. Now I understand and appreciate why their boots are so expensive. It is fantastic that such an old company are now run by an enthusiastic young man that is really at the top of his game.
I like their attempt to modernize with the sizing tool but I have tried a dozen times and I can't get it to work. I was fortunate enough to get a second hand pair. They are a bit too small and I still love them. Russell is a grail boot for me. One day soon I'll get a proper pair. What a great interview, thanks! I think Russell is in good hands for the foreseeable future.
They need better customer service in recommending boot sizes. The online scan doesn’t work all that great. At that price n little known brand customer service goes a long way.
When I used the ai tool it was telling me I was a size and a half smaller than my normal. However, I could see it thought my foot length was shorter than it actually is and so by comparing to my actual foot length, I was able to infer my size. Luckily they fit perfectly! As you say, there must be a better way of doing this. Just do a conversion chart based on actual foot measurements. As it is it's such a gamble buying from abroad given exchange too expensive to be viable.
I just bought some. The computer app that they ask you to use was spot on. I dropped 1.5 size down. I had ordered 13 not knowing about the app and sent them back for 11.5 after using the app. I would also read their website about sizing.
Loved the explanation of why their boots are so comfortable. I don't think I could ever rock that moc style, but I'm so jealous of how great they sound.
Great video! You sold me on Russell. I'm going to make the investment. The scanning tool is telling me to size down 1.5 from my brannock. I'm a little nervous about that recommendation.
I agree - particularly if you don’t live in the US and can’t return the boots so easily and without paying customs and VAT twice on entry to the UK. I tried the AI tool, and it recommended US 12 for loafers / 11½ for boots. Brannock said 13. I got hold of a second hand pair of Russell loafers in size 12 and they’re just about wearable, but really a size too small. So what to go with? Probably the the experience of the real shoes. None of this helpful to you, though!
How is the arch support in these. I have high arches and often shoes like this I need an insert. Jist wondering (you may get to it im not all the way through yet)
He didn't need to, as Luke covered the main reason, namely the high amount of labour necessary, and the cost of American labour, health care, etc, if you take care of your employees.
