You don't know what reticle you have? Sounds like the duplex if it's just a cross.

Would this scope suit a Sako 85 varmint 223? Or would it be too much scope?

It would be great shooting 223, 22-250, any long range for 24 or short using 4.
This scope is 14.7 " long and it has a 52mm lens so make sure this size fit your needs .
I bought a VX6 a few years back and it cost 1100.00 so these scopes went up in price big time.
