There are much bigger scams going on in other parts of the world, don't worry, your Egypt is very nice place 👌people in Australia for example will try sell you something expensive like a car for $10,000 dollars that maybe need very expensive repair or something? and they will lie to you with a smile. Many danger scams! To buy or not buy some oil in Egypt actually harmless thing. But if you know how sellers behave in Egypt by watching this video you can be more friendly because you don't end up in situation you must buy something you do not want to buy.... you can say yes or no from beginning. But if you want to buy you can buy and make sellers happy in Egypt.
You have to read Gertrude Bell's travel stories already in the 1910s in Egypt when she talks about these Egyptian rogues, interested, liars and crooks on the boats on the Nile and in Cairo, it would be good to read a little before undertaking such a trip and getting screwed by an Egyptian crook, unless you are a bit of a masochist!
As I'M egyptian I'M sorry for what happend to you, but I can't agree with you about no one can do help for free, it can but who gonna do this? Don't trust some body come to you and guide you to somthing for free bcz he may lead you to some store to get a share of what you gonna buy from there, but if you ask some body walking in Streets for help he will just answer you for free, I know its not the good situation when sombody offer you for somthing for free but later you find its a lie but you have to be aware of those scams and just say thank you n keep walking. Sorry for this again
Oh, thank you friend, it was just something I was not prepared for but by avoiding something you did not want to buy... you can have money for what you do actually want to buy. Egyptian people are very nice people and amazing country 👌

There are several different vloggers with that same oil man and his shop. Your the only one I've seen get out of there without oils. The only way he gets customers is to guide tourists to his back alley store.
As a tourist it would nice to just get help without being pressured into giving money in return. Once they start with, Follow Me, that's my cue to just turn away. Just point in the direction or educate the tourist! I've had a group of vendors circle me with their goods all at the same time! Great video thanks for sharing. I got tricked into the same shop in July by a different guy, I think they use this shop and get commission from the owner . Will upload my video and experience soon

He’s taking food from the buckets with his bare unwashed hands which he has been wiping sweat off his sweaty face and feeding you out of his hands. You guys are eating. Come on. He doesn’t look like the kind that washes hands after using the toilet. That’s okay he pees holding a utensil. He’s clean like that.
Its not always the case that they want something just because they want to help you. Have been to Egypt 7 times. But in many countries you do not get anything for free. Depends a little bit on the situation to. When you are in market places then what you said probably is mostly true.
Just say no thanks and don’t follow anyone… it’s easy they even try to do it to me as Egyptian when l go on vacation.. it’s not the money it’s just feel uncomfortable it’s worse in Mexico when the offer you a free breakfast and try to sell you a time share that you can’t get out of Lesson one nothing is free …
The scam is being shown around by someone offering a friendly little tour around, and then being led to a shop to finally buy expensive products where you must buy. Example: Hi there, let me show you around this market today.... where are you from? oh okay, very nice, let me show you around lets be friends. And now I show you my shop. These are my products, how many will you buy? I can gift wrap them for you. This puts you into a difficult situation where saying no becomes rude, and you must buy something you do not want or need to buy.
I think the 'scam' was the fact he act like being friendly and help you for free instead of saying he's trying to sell you something. Ofcourse there is a difference between lying and not saying something. In this case its the second one and thats why I understand that people see this more like a 'trick' than a 'scam'@@metalgearsolidsnake6978
