    You are such a kind soul, and it's truly amazing how you are willing to share your knowledge on wire wrapping. I started out playing with wire until something happened, then discovered your TH-cam and learned sooo many cool techniques from you, and now I just play with wire until something pretty happens. Thank you for all of your amazing videos. You are truly an inspiration and I feel blessed that I own a couple of your pieces.

    It was fun to see your face. You match your kind , happy voice😃! You really are a great teacher. I have loved stone's all my life! After all these years I have a hugeand beloved collection. I have paid for several classes in hopes of learning how to develop the skills to do something beautiful (or at least decent) with them. I am an artist and pretty crafty, but your craft eluded me. I have been watching your tutorials( some many times)! I am so happy to be creating things I love. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents and creative artistry! I just had a look at your Instagram site. I gotta tell ya, your work just makes me smile! I love all your pieces, but the moon themes and the opal pendants are my favs. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. This is just my hobby, and I do custom orders for friends. But I’m retired now and worked from age 14 to 63. I’m 64 now and with arthritis in my spine have no desire to start a business. I’m fascinated with the idea though and appreciated that you put this together for us out here who follow you and admire your work. You’re truly a gifted artist.

    HI Oxana, I have been a wire-wrapper for many years and love doing it. Your pieces are SO stylistic and unique. I thought I would mention how I polish my finished pieces. I have never used liver of sulfur because when I began wrapping, I already owned a tumbler (had been my husband's when he used to reload ammo for his guns). It uses med-fine walnut shell which is a great medium for polishing up your pieces. I finish a piece and pop it in the tumbler for an hour or so, stone and all (even soft stones). I have never had a problem and any small scratches I may have made in the wire, polish right out and the wire (copper, silver, gold and even brass) all polish up to a gorgeous brightness. I get all of my wire from Rio so it is all excellent quality. And yes, good stones are tough to find. Keep the videos coming. It is always interesting to see how a different wrapper works.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do your pieces not turn dark after being tumbled? Like eventually with time I mean, doesn't the copper still turn dark? I have a tumbler too, it uses steel shot, I use it to polish the copper after I have oxidized it with the liver or sulfur. I oxidize for the antique look it gives but also because copper so quickly turns dark so I noticed if it is oxidized then it is not as noticeable.

    • @CHWarwick
      @CHWarwick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OxanaCrafts HI Oxana, nope I have never had any of my pieces, no matter what kind of wire I used, turn dark after tumbling. As a matter of fact, I do keep my finished pieces on non tarnish jewelry trays with tops on each tray to keep the air to a minimum. Maybe the pieces you have tumbled in your tumbler darkened due to the stainless steel media. Maybe try the med-fine walnut shell instead ?

I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t like the look of copper once it’s been oxidised so I wouldn’t want to do that. Hi Oxana, in talking about wires - I live in France and have begun making jewelry only for a few months and you and your videos have become my best friend lol. Here in this country, it is first, extremely difficult to find square and half round wires. Between the jewelry suppliers that I use and Amazon, I have found one brand (Beadalon) of square and I imagine it is not dead soft because it is a pain in the butt to work with, as you said. In addition, I prefer my pieces to be silver-plated copper, too, so while I can find all the round wire I need in all gauges, these 2 types, not so much. Without paying a fortune in customs fees/international shipping, are you at al familiar with European companies that sell these types of wires that maybe I overlooked? Thank you and thank you so very very much for your tutorials which have really helped me "level up" in my jewelry making! xx

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a boiled egg yolk. You can use it more than once if you store it in the fridge while oxidizing. When not using yolk it can be stored in the freezer. It's great if you want to use something non toxic and less stinky. 😁

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I use extra fine stainless steel wool, wet with a bit of soap, to polish right after I oxidize. Then later on if a piece needs a touch up I usually use pro polish pads because it's quicker/easier for just a touch up.

    • @miraworldus
      @miraworldus 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your response. I have used Sunshine Cloths, but I go through an awful lot of them. _Should_ you price things based on the material cost and labour? Were I to sell, I imagine I'd look at similar pieces and price accordingly, going back to work if I'd be making a loss... I mean, it's worth what someone's willing to pay, right?

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is quite a variety of prices out there, I figure out what I think think is a fair price for me rather than base it on the prices of others. I have seen people selling similar pendants for more and also for less, so I figure I just gotta do what is right for me.

    • @Asdayasman
      @Asdayasman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OxanaCrafts So what about brand recognition? You've built yourself eighty-one thousand cheeky boiz and girls subscribed to you on TH-cam so you're kinda famous in your niche right? Your products could be seen as worth more because of the name attached to them, and you're also able to leverage your audience as marketing (even if you don't try to), so you could potentially upmark based on those factors, right?

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theoretically yes, but my audience are mainly makers themselves rather than buyers of jewellery. And since I moved to Australia the shipping costs are quite high, to ship to US where most of my customers are, so I have to try and compensate for that by keeping my jewellery prices low. But I get what you are saying, there are some "famous" wrappers out there that can charge pretty much whatever they want because as soon as they post something for sale it sells out immediately. Not me though, I have over 300 items posted for sale as of right now :)

      i don't have any specific ones I regularly buy from, I just search what I am looking for and buy it from whatever shops come up, just gotta check that the reviews are ok, one time I forgot to check reviews and turns out it was a dishonest seller that never shipped my package

    Hi Oxana, what kind of jewelry chain do you use for your pendants? Thank you so much and love all of your videos ❤️

      I usually use nylon cord necklace. I do rarely use "antique copper" colored chain, just like craft store chain, I have not been able to find affordable solid copper chain.

    I think a really great place to get stones other then online...? is your local gem/mineral/jewlery show! Near where I live, within a 15 to 50 square mile radius or so, there is over a dozen such shows where unique and wholesale gems can be seen and bought same day! You just have to look up your states/local gem show schedule(s). In washington state we have them year round! ^_-
    That is all......

    You should incorporate real sea shells into your jewelry designs

    • @DontTouchMyDucky
      @DontTouchMyDucky ปีที่แล้ว

      Seashells can be fragile and chip easily so real shell isn't that good for jewelry unless coated to minimize damage

    If you are shopping on ebay it's actually a free store! Just get the product, take it, send the seller an empty box and you'll get your money back! Someone bought a $20,000 pokemon card and returned an empty box to the seller on ebay and got all the money back! That's how AWFUL ebay is to it's sellers there is no protection. DON'T SUPPORT EBAY until they change things for sellers.
