I am looking forward to getting a djembe
i've been playing djembe sporadically for years, but never had a lesson. this was VERY useful, thank you my friend!
Thank you! :) 💚 I just acquired a used djembe and I'm not a musician, but your lessons are so clear and your theory easy to follow that I believe that I'll be playing a soca beat in no time. Also, I'm a teacher and I'm so appreciative of the way you organized your lesson with great visuals.
Oh wow I'm glad it's actually working, lemme work on more Djembe vids then. Thanks.
Thank You!!! 💫✨
This was a great introduction to getting started on the djembe. I was inspired by listening to the West African drummers and just purchased one for myself.
Thanks for sharing your skills!
Awesome, thank you!
These lessons are great! I'm a guitar player who's always struggled a little bit with rythhm. After watching these first two lessons I feel like I'm starting to get it! I should be playing a djembe at church in no time! Thanks!
The way you are teaching this is perfect its going right in to my soul thank you
Wow, thank you
This is so amazing of you to teach me how to play a Djembe . I collect African art and cultural items , my coworker just gifted me an African handmade Djembe , my drum is a little smaller than yours I would say mine is medium . But my drum doesn’t sound as rich as yours , is mine tight because it’s brand new and will sound differently as I play more ? Or is a medium drum never going to give me a rich sound .
It will be rich in it's own way. What gives the sound the richness is lesser about the size and more about the shape of the drum and, thickness of wood and thickness of skin used. Getting the combination just right is tricky.
Awesome! Thanks so much! 🤩
Love this!!
Love it
You are very talented bro. A very worthwhile subscription

Hey bro, give us more djembe lessons
I've got more shorts but I'll also make full length ones also. Thanks.
May please make videos showing us how to play popular traditional songs on marimba 🥺🥺🥺
Its coming soon dont worry :)
Ok, so if I’m left handed, I start with my left hand instead of right?
It doesn't matter, you can still start with the right hand even when you are left handed.
@@RhythmInAfrica oh that’s interesting… I was assuming that the main rhythms are held by the dominant hand… I do know that drummers who are left-handed approach everything the opposite way that right handed drummers do. Thank you anyway… This was a great tutorial… I actually made a pleasing sound.! I am a bass player and my boyfriend is multi instrumentalist… He had these beautiful drums hanging around so I want to learn!
do i switch hand instructions if I'm a Lefty?
That's up to you, but it doesn't matter really coz I can do using both hands. Short answer. NO.
Can I play this instrument without being black?
Just a joke, nice lesson!
@@dercybermobber3679 🤣🤣🤣 thanks
less talking and more demonstration...
Hello!
I just bought a new djembe drum and it came with an extra string wrapped around the body. Am I supposed to tune it? It seems like the skin is not tight enough 😊 tnx
