  • What is a hospital ER Tech? ER Tech stands for Emergency Room Technician. An ER tech is an EMT working in the hospital ER department instead of an ambulance in the field. The ER Techs work and assist the RNs and other medical staff inside the hospital emergency room. ER techs provide emergency basic patient care to patients who are admitted to the ER. So, what are ER Tech Responsibilities and Duties?
Some common ER tech duties and responsibilities include:
    - Taking basic vitals like blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature of patients
    - EKG - chest pain/cardiac situation or medical order by a Doctor
    - basic BLS patient care like cleaning and bandaging injuries
    - Assist w/ collecting various patient specimens for lab testing
    - Assist nurses or doctors with medical procedures in the emergency room

Thank you for your video! Very informative. I'm starting my new career as a ER Tech in October! I'm so excited! I was formerly a Medical Assistant! I am going to go back to school to get more education and skills to be a outstanding employee!

The ER at the hospital that I applied to work at has a mix of students, CNAs and EMS providers as techs.

Thank you so much for this video! You were very detailed, but not so much that it sounds complicated! I'm an EMT for a private ambulance company and i'm considering either going to 911 or getting a phlebotomy license and being an ER tech for a while

GREAT VIDEO! You explained it so well. I’m going to start a new job in the ED in early December.

ER tech can do more or less depending on the state/city/hospital. This video is based on what I saw inside my old Trauma Hospital in Southern CA

Thank you for the point , I was considering if I can apply to ER tech without EMT license.

Nowadays, most hospitals require u to have emt license and prior ema experience. Some might not require it, but u have to compete with people who r emts and medics for the position

Four patients! What nirvana ER are you working in?! Our nurses have 6-7 patients.

California had laws that cap nurses to patient ratio for patient safety. Other states have different ratios.

Get your EMT license and experience, majority hospitals prefer EMTs with experience and some want 911 exp

What is the difference between ED and Er tech?

Same, just a different saying. ED = Emergency Dept. vs ER = Emergency Room.
