    In my opinion, this is the wrong way to end the show. Now there's no audience involvement at all. I like the experimentation but just giving the prize to the person with the most points makes the points matter and that's not really what the game has been about.

    • @AdrianColley
      @AdrianColley 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      The points matter to the extent that the prize matters.

    • @TinKnight
      @TinKnight 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      Why, it's almost like the entire point of the show is to highlight the comedians... giving the "prize" away but having everyone still speak to the audience completely eliminates any concern over the points. No one's trying to win, other than just to compete for silliness.

    • @Bryan_on_fire

    I liked that we got more time with all the contestants for the final segment and FTW could be said to have some issues, but what I did like about the FTW format was that it really made the points not matter in the end; the scores only narrowed it to the top two. I feel like that worked better on a thematic and meta level with the reiterated slogan of "the points don't matter". I always thought that was really clever. I feel like this format detracts from that and is kind of anticlimactic. The winner should be announced in the final segment. By all means keep the cameras rolling and give more screentime to the contestants' reactions to who won but I feel like a full (mini) segment after the winner is declared feels awkward in regard to flow.
    And speaking of Flo, I hope Stephanie comes back. I have always found her delightful 😊

    This is a much weaker ending to the show than what had been there. It feels very anti-climatic, especially after getting rid of the elimination of the person with the least amount of points. It feels less like it was working towards something and just is a stranger way to end the show. You might as well drop the gameshow premise all together at that point.

    Interesting format changes this week....love that we get to see Taylor's monologue off the top now (shades of Graham Norton's Show). I do prefer the comics introducing themselves at the top of the show, but love that you declare a winner via points, rather than eliminating the lowest scores and then the showdown at the end. This works more like a game show.

      idk if you've clocked it, but the view counts on these videos are *distressingly* low, like, *apocalyptically* low for a mainstream network TV show. It's cheap to make, comparatively speaking, but as a massive fan, I'm worried that it nevertheless won't survive... So I support any tooling around they feel like they wanna try with it. I'm sold on the show regardless, and more power to them for probing for a groove because I can't *fathom* why more people aren't watching it 💙

      @@realbadger same, @midnight was my favorite show in its original run, and I was thrilled when they announced it was coming back, especially with a comedian at the helm whose work I love and respect...
      I admit though that I still do miss the verbal exclamation of "POINTS!" (and the occasional "...yknow what? no points for that.", which was amusing and pleasing too)... and Hardwick's reactionary laughs at everyone's bits felt more sincere and infectious than Taylor's, whose genuine laugh somehow feels put-on in some way (and I hate even typing that out loud and hope no one sees or takes note of it, because it's not something anyone can control or change 😬)... but overall I think she's absolutely killllling it, and she feels so natural and at-ease in the role, I love it 😍
      Honestly the biggest flaw and tragedy in the whole thing is that right before it came back on the air, Elon thoroughly destroyed Twitter, which was a natural home for #HashtagWars, and their daily trending weirdness generated a lot of attention to the concept. (Just the other day I rewatched the hilarious old CollegeHumor mock game show skit "Why Is This Trending?", which shouts it out something along the lines of *buzz* "that is some at midnight bullshit" "correct, if it's some weird pun thing, almost always" 🤣 and wow is that video a bizarre time capsule... They did a second one to follow up like a year later and the thesis was basically yep we can't do this concept anymore because Trump has ruined everything and the internet is no longer fun 😬)
      I used to have a lot of fun participating in the hashtag, and now I just don't know where to put it. I signed up for Threads and did a night or two, but with no other content ever on there it felt weird to just have a threads account yelling @fter Midnight puns into the void... And it's not the same now that everything is threaded, because on Twitter you just posted it in your feed but used the hashtag and atted them, so it was discoverable but still a first-party original post from you, not buried in a thread of 30,000 other replies like it is if you comment on the clip on TH-cam or Tiktok or Instagram or Facebook... And idk if anyone sees it if you post it on your own Threads like we used to on Twitter, since there'll be an actual thread on the show's Threads for the hashtag and people seem to be commenting on it... I don't care if anyone connected to the show ever sees my stupid pun, but I want at least a couple other people making stupid puns to see it so it doesn't feel totally pointless and audienceless and masturbatory... But in the 2024 metagame of digital social interactivity, that's just not how it works anymore.
      And it's Elon's fault for turning Twitter into this weird X thing we have now that repels users because it's so intrinsically connected with his weird egoism that we don't want to participate in. And now we don't have anywhere quite exactly like Twitter was.
      It reminds me of how Facebook systematically dismantled the concept of Online status in Instant Messaging and now that just doesn't exist, the old MSN-like paradigm has disappeared and there's no way to signal "I am enthusiastically available to start an IM conversation", we're all just pseudo-online on our smartphones and never really actually there, Schrodinger's chatbots that may or may not answer any time soon, so you feel differently about engaging someone for nothing in particular. (Even in a corporate context, because no one signs in and out of things like Teams, they just leave it running, so if their work computer is on, their Teams is signed in, whether they're at their desk or not. 🙄)
      ...whew sorry to get on a bit of a rant there 😅😅😅

  • @nbuehster
    @nbuehster 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Good way to end a (fake) gameshow.
    Make all three panelists feel like winners. (At least that's what I thought Taylor did.)
    👍👍
    What she could have done is (and I think this would make it even more fake) say which panelist has the highest score, but say something about how the other two would be jealous, and so she'd make it like a three-way tie, and say they all won. Then the panelists would decide who would get the prize. If all three of them are friends, then they'd say they'd share it with each other.
    That way, if the prize is that famous doll, the next time she tries to give it away, she'd joke about the panelists giving it back to her. She'd say that one of the panelists gave it to another because bad things have been happening since he/she got it. Then she'd say the other panelists felt the same way, so they decided to give it back to her. (Hopefully that all made sense.)
    Btw, these three should be the panelists on every episode.🤣 (This ranks up there with the one with @dam.)
