- In April 2015 Wissam Boustany gave his third residency at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, Australia, one of the finest musical institutions worldwide.
An intense week of chamber music and masterclasses focusing on the works of Francis Poulenc culminated in a prestigious concert and Wissam was invited to conduct a performance of Poulenc's masterpiece "Aubade", his concerto for piano and 18 instruments, originally conceived as a choreographed work.
Apart from the perceptive, sensitive and energetic playing of soloist Laurence Matheson, this also proved to be a profound experience for Wissam himself: this performance turned out to be his 'unofficial debut' as a conductor, after which he resolved to develop this fascinating side of music-making, adding a new dimension to his activities as flute soloist and teacher.

I love Poulenc so much and think this is one of the best renditions of this piece❤❤❤. Awesome work
ANAM is one of the finest music schools in the world
wonderful neo-classical mixture of Baroque and French folk music. Humorous and moving.
...absolutely right....thank you for your thoughts. Apart from the compositional style and structure, it is also a highly charged, daring and sensuous piece, pushing to the limits of emotion, while at the same time retaining a veneer of attractive and accessible melody. Genius.
This is one of my favorite pieces too little known. Good job here. Love the opening!!!!
Great job, Wissam! I like the music and performance! Bravo!
Thank you Olga. I miss you and hope all is going well with you and your students!
This is really exciting music. I'd never heard it before. Wonderful.
Yes...it is OUTRAGEOUS music....sensual, dangerous, ahead of its time...
love french piano music great work t y for posting
Poulenc is supreme...such defiance, sensuality, charm, wit, power and sadness - all wrapped up in
matchless lyricism and structural beauty..
Superb
What else have I been missing? Poulenc is a neglected composer on the radio.
He is certainly a neglected composer...difficult to him in a box...radical, accessible, challenging and traditional in equal measure
@@wissamboustany9027 …but definitely French!
