Senzo Meyiwa Trial | Cross-examination of Tumelo Madlala continues

- Cross-examination of a friend of the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, will continue in the High Court in Pretoria this morning. Yesterday 15 November 2022, Tumelo Madlala, denied that featuring in a Netflix documentary about the circumstances surrounding the death of the soccer star, might have compromised the case. The matter will resume with the defence for one of the accused, Advocate Zandile Mshololo, continuing to cross-examine Madlala. He was among those who were in the house when the incident happened in October 2014.

He lost the plot when he said I could not take a decision on how to assist the "deceased " because he is just the best friend and the lover was there, so he could not make a decision on how to help his best friend.

The biggest question here was that who fired the shot becouse the guy with the fire was being beaten by Kelly, Zandy and granny senzo and Madlala was figthing with the other guy which was not caring the fire arm. Why those who beat a person that is caring the fire arm were not injured?

How the judge chastises Mshololo versus how he chastises TT is so different. He treats TT like a child
Thobane is doing that to himself. He supposed to remove emotions when he does his questioning. Ask one question at a time and a question should be straightforward. His questions are too long and confusing to himself and the witness. He should also be articulate and firm without losing his temper. That being said, I am not saying that the Judge is correct in behaving that way. The Judge is taking advantage because of Thobane’s way of speaking.
TT has a very bad attitude, just like his colleague, Teffo. How you react to being chastised will determine how the treatment will be going forward. Mshololo respects the judge and his rulings. TT on the other hand, has a disdainful attitude
The problem is the medium language being used. TT could have been a very effective trial lawyer, but his limited command gets in his way. He is not that articulate in English, lacking precise words to make his interrogation ineffectual. There are times when he is too wordy, which fails to deliver damaging blows to cause the witness to contradict himself. I feel if he were to argue this case in the vernacular, the impact thereof would have been telling. But alas, our African languages are still marginalised.

I think just because TT's english is not fluent he is unable to put his words straight or rather sentences. And that makes the judge to take advantage of him.....
