I had a property that was cut over in 2000. The hunting was excellent until the canopy knocked out all the undergrowth. I went in and did like you said, cut trees, trash trees.-which put structure on the ground. That was two years ago and then I got bunches of deer. It’s all about sunlight management and steam count. You are spot on with your video.👍
James thank you for sharing your experiences…I think many of us can relate to exactly what happened to you! As soon as you lose the cover/food of those cuts, you will soon lose the deer. Thanks for watching and good luck this season!
Heeeeyyyy! I think I know that guy in GA! Grateful for your friendship and can NOT recommend the site visit any more than I do! One of the best values in all of deer hunting and good time with a great human in Gods country!! See you again soon, my friend!
Ok Plot Professor, you don't mention it much, but the least costly thing I do to create woody browse--on the most acres with the least amount of work and effort is--Prescribed Fire. Prescribed fire kills most of the tops but leaves the roots to vigorously resprout. I burn about 5 acres every year. Wondering if YOU burn any of your acres or not?
Clark, in my area we have way too many houses around the woods to attempt to run fire through…..I’m not an expert on fire, I’ve got virtually no experience with it…and im a firm believer that if I don’t have real life experience with it, I’m Not going to show it on the channel. Maybe one of these days I’ll do some burning; gain some experience and show it on the channel. Thanks for watching and good luck this season
@@DIYfoodplotpro I'm only a couple counties north of you in Crittenden Co. I took a couple KDFW control burning seminars over 10 years ago and have been doing burns ever since. Get with the area KDFW Biologist and go with them on a burn or two and learn the details to safely burn. Good luck and give it a try!!!
Good info Wes. I’ve in central OK and we have a fair amount of pigs. Unless I broadcast larger seeds (wheat, beans, rye) the day before a decent rain the pigs find it and root it up so I have a hard time getting those easy types of plots. I’ve been working on TSI with fire the past few years with good results.
Hogs are awful, I don’t have much experience with them yet, but they are close to my area now. Like you said, they can’t root up woody browse….great food plot that is hog proof! Thanks for watching and good luck this season!
If you have hogs use an electric fence around the plot until it comes up, 2 or three wires, on a solar charger, make sure the first wire is low enough they will hit it with their nose. Once they have that nose shocked they will not go back.
Yes sir! I love the management side of it…I just love being out there and legitimately trying to make a positive impact on the herd! Thanks for watching

Thanks Brad, I appreciate the friendship and support! Can’t wait to get back down your way again soon! Hope you’re having a good season so far!
Thanks Wes, I’ve got a retired logger coming in about a month or so to do just that.
Great plan!! Good luck and be careful

Good lord willing I can bring yall some very detailed projects on the Mecca series. Thanks for watching and good luck this season
Funny how some people forget that the deer were here thousands of years before the farms.

Native Americans modified the environment of centuries to help deer and wildlife and planted corn plots and hunted the deer that feed on them.
