This is my favorite version, stays closer to the book then any other..being from hannibal missouri i take pride in tom, huck and twain.i worked on the mark twain riverboat here(its a day cruiser) in hannibal when i was 15- 17 yrs old.now im 21 and still work on the river but for my gf's dad we catch catfish and sell em to the butcher block( our butcher in quincy)
@@DarkKnight1407 Better read the book again especially chapters 13 through 16. Twain wrote, "So Jackson Island was chosen. Who were to be the subjects of their piracies, was a matter that did not occur to them." Tom called himself the Black Avenger of the Spanish Main. Huck the Red Handed, and Joe the Terror of the Seas.
So why think of it that way? They could be exploring the vast Universe, entering new dimensions or traveling through space & time waiting for us to join them!
The loss of Junior Durkin at 19 is incalculable. He would have been a MAJOR superstar. We'd be talking about him today as a Hollywood legend like Gary Cooper.
Thank you for posting this video, very charming. My favorite Tom film is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938). I'm trying to find Huckleberry Finn (1931), but I can't find it anywhere...
TH-cam won't allow me to post a link to it, If you use a search engine and add ru to the end of the name and year of the movie you should be able to find it.
Yes , Jackie Coogan was the Uncle Fester of the TV show ( 1960's ) , The Addams Family . My favorite part , the light bulb 💡 would light up a.s.a. holds it with his mouth .
Do you have the 1932 version of Little Orphan Annie starring Mitzi Green? I'm looking everywhere for it and might buy it off of Amazon if I can find someone selling it
Probably the best after the 1917 Jack Pickford Paramount effort. Tommy Kelly and Ann Gillis are great as Tom and Becky in the 1938 version but the technicolor is too much and the direction by Norman Taurog makes you feel he was just copying Coggan's 1930 version. His direction of the 1931 Huckleberry Finn was dreadful. If you can get it, watch the 1978 Soviet Huckleberry Finn titled Hopelessly Lost. Much of it I'd closer to Twain's novel!
That Huckleberry had bad (but FUN !) habits taught to Tom. Heaven only knows just how bad (but FUN .I. ) Boys WILL be boys, when no ones a lookin! THAT should put 'er nice n plain like?
Yep! Thts the wai she was bak in thu dai! No P-C, all ofense an piles-o-fun!! Tom tuk reel gud car of th goodi to shues alrite. No mor upity fur im. Yep! th way she wus. . | .
One of THE greatest movies of all time since the beginning of talkies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is it the closest? The book makes no mention of playing pirates or him pouring water in the beginning?

@@Diosprometheus Thanks for setting that strait, Dios P. !
That @DarkKnight1407 is just one low-down badly informed grouser common these days.
@@jamesmiller4184 Thanks.
I seriously doubt he ever read the book. It is very readable multiple times.

Thank you.
I just now corrected my not very good 'idiomatic grammar. I was under the nice influence of Twain's Tom Sawyer. 😂
it's sad to think that all those actors are no longer in the world

So glad you uploaded this. So great to see Junior and Mitzi, both gone too early and soon.

As a kid i enjoyed reading Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.
Sweet memories of my bygone childhood.
