  • My Favorite Murder - Ambrose Bierce - Fantasy - Mystery - Horror Stories
    (1911)
    Narration: Anna Gkika
► A young man accused of the appalling murder of his mother is acquitted on the grounds that his crime is almost harmless in comparison with his previous murder of his uncle, which was both barbaric and highly unusual. Written with Ambrose Bierce's uniquely witty and tongue-in-cheek style.
► Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce (June 24, 1842 - c. 1914) was an American short story writer, journalist, poet, and American Civil War veteran. His book The Devil's Dictionary was named one of "The 100 Greatest Masterpieces of American Literature" by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration. His story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" has been described as "one of the most famous and frequently anthologized stories in American literature", and his book Tales of Soldiers and Civilians (also published as In the Midst of Life) was named by the Grolier Club one of the 100 most influential American books printed before 1900. In 1913, Bierce told reporters that he was travelling to Mexico to gain first-hand experience of the Mexican Revolution. He disappeared and was never seen again. [wiki]

What an interesting reading! Your voice captures the eerie and satirical tone that Bierce is known for. The dark humor and sharp critique of human nature come through brilliantly in this reading. The way you handle the protagonist's calm and almost casual recounting of the murder adds a chilling layer to the story. I really enjoyed this- a must-listen for fans of classic dark literature!
