@Kash Jaxon Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Superb writing, acting, sound effects and stories! I listen to these in my office whilst working or at home puttering about the house! Love listening to these in the evenings! Thank you for sharing these outstanding programs!
I corresponded with John Bentley over a 30 year period he had a long radio career going back to the mid 1930s plus many films and west end plays not to forget regional tours and television. He also had a fine singing voice. I had not heard this play before so a real bonus. Thank you for posting it.
Please forgive my ignorance but who is he? I'm sure it'll say his character at the end of the up to now absorbing play and I'm glad u have some lovely memories of ur friend.
I love old radio shows like these. When I was a child in the 1970s I listened to Mystery Theater. In the last 10 years or so, I found apps in the play store with thousands of radio shows. I would've loved being alive during that time.

So pleased I discovered this YT channel. Love listening to these old radio programmes, proves the point that the imagination can be better than seeing the narrative, of course strongly helped by real professionals who don´t blur their words like in so many modern dramas .
Thank you so much for this TH-cam channel. A marvellous, mysterious and psychological thriller superbly narrated by all the actors, scene setting and captivating atmosphere. Xxx

John Hyatt wrote some very fine witty , intelligent dramas for radio. At that time. Today he's be lucky to get past the BBC doorman. Doesn't tick all the correct boxes !!
@@2msvalkyrie529 Things have certainly changed. The BBC was unique in global broadcasting. It had the budget to commission the best actors, writers, producers and directors. The body of work created is absolutely amazing. We won't see that golden era again, but thank heavens the BBC maintained its archives so well.
@@kerryh3833 Don't remember this but if it had my heart pounding reminiscent of the old horror movies of the 40-50s, I'd recommend listening in the high sun of noon. (Of course, those oldies are mild compared to the blood and gore of today's films - I suppose.)
I enjoyed this very much (though it's really too dark for a cosy armchair listen). However, at the risk of being irritatingly pedantic, no Anglo-Catholic clergyman could possibly be ignorant about St Hilda (1:21:21) who, far from being simply 'a virgin martyr', or indeed any kind of martyr, was the energetic and much-respected Abbess who presided over the Synod of Whitby. Small details like this do rather give away the fact that Nicholson is a script-writer's idea of a priest, not the real thing!
Talented speakers make such a difference in "storytelling". Thanks.

Great story but I thought in murder cases or death, priests weren’t obligated to keep silent
Unless church laws have changed priests are not permitted to divulge information irrespective of. circumstances.
Only thing above church law: State and Federal law. And there is the obligation to protect the innocent….
Don't think I'd like to listen to this in bed--under the bed, maybe.
Sooo... Not a good idea to use it to go to sleep?

I suspect that Mr. Kappa was finished off by Sis. Alice in order to protect the priest. Did anyone else take it that way, or do I misinterpret?
I can't think so because the priest will have his past exposed by the witch - she told him do earlier on.

The direction was appalling. Dialogue was delivered at ‘jabber’ speed. Still can’t decide whether Capper was intended to be English, Irish or Welsh
I have trouble following the story.
Penelope Wilton?
Capper's voice is so abrasive and annoying I almost stopped listening.
