it's even weirder when bosses are just standing there as you enter the room, like Romina and Rellana. at least Gaius and Putrescent ride in from offscreen, which is much cooler and just makes more sense
messmer was my fav boss in the whole dlc, rellana wasnt far behind tho, i really did not like radahn at all though, it could be a skill issue tbf but i was also unfortunately on a ng+7 character it was just miserable 😭

So a bit of lore for you guys. Miquella, after the shattering, told Malenia about his plan to ascend to godhood. He sent her away to inflict the rot upon Radahn, cleaving his soul away and replacing it with the rot, as revealed by prime radahn's armor in which it says that Malenia told Radahn that he would be his consort. Meanwhile, Miquella enchants Mohg into steaing him away, thereby allowing him to divest his flesh and enter the realm of shadow. Once we kill Mohg (after Radahn), we enter the realm of shadow, and it is then that, thanks to us, he is able to steal away Mohg's body, as revealed by Sir Ansbach. Once in the realm of shadow, Miquella's rune continues to enchant the tarnished warriors into allegiance with him so that he may continue his plan, but as part of his plan he needs to destroy his rune, lifting the enchantment on the tarnished. At some point, he is able to fuse the body of Mohg with the soul of Radahn, as revealed by Prime Radahn having omen horns and the golden eyes of Marika's children and not Rennala's. Finally, during the battle with Prime Radahn, he is able to use a grab attack, that lifts you up to Miquella, and unless you have his discarded rune on your person that resist charms, he will insant-kill you through your own free will just giving up. The lore is a little convoluted, and Mohg is no longer the Mohglester but the Mohglested,but I overall enjoyed piecing together what I could. Lmk if I got anything wrong or have suggestions!
Actually Malenia had to straight up kill Radahn in the Lands Between so that he could be transported to the Lands of Shadow. Radahn was tainted with the power of the elden ring so he was not in a mind to keep his promise to Miquella. Unfortunately for Malenia, her rot gave Radahn permanent brain damage instead of outright killing him.
It’s never stated that melania knew because she was waiting for him if she knew she wouldn’t have waited. Miquella charmed her and made her fight Radahn. There’s no evidence that Miquella knew melania served the nuke. He used his sister as a means to an end he’s just as bad as his mother.

The lore isn't "convoluted" it straight up doesn't make sense if you think about it. Miquella healing Freyja in the Swamp of Aeonia while his sister had to be dragged away to the Haligtree already shows whoever wrote the lore doesn't know what they are doing.

Something I learned with the Savage Claws. You can cancel the Charge Heavy with a back step and it will be another retreating attack. You can also switch directions for cool mix ups.
About radahn after image attacks. Best way to dodge is it to run sideways at 90°. His every afterimage will miss you. But in the end he himself come at uou. Roll at right time and then be ready to roll it again if he pulling the ground which means he going to do his aoe attack.

Senessax was probably my least favorite fight in the game. Dragons are already the worst fights, then they make one with lighting combos with attacks that hit twice. Had no shame using mimic, and he always died halfway through anyway. I actually found it easier to fight him on foot once I learned his moves.
Fyi if anyone wants to beat the final boss, i noticed through testing that my damage was super high when i was using holy damage. That and quick multi attacks. Duel twinblades for example. I went for that and only armour that enhanced levels or damage, no defence talidmans or tears. Learn the moveset and get in those super high damage jump power stance attacks. Damage negation doesnt matter when you learn it and he does super high damage anyway. I eventually got it in sub 30
I just beat him today, second phase was taking less holy damage from my holy build, had to switch to different faith greatswords to finally beat him. Honestly I loved all his attacks but the stupid light show after each of his attacks made it hard to see sometimes. If people are having trouble they should try either bleed or cold, that's my plan for next playthrough
@doomdozer1914 bleed and cold are nice but I found his long combos and small vunerability windows made them less practical than just maximising base damage. Although miquella does make him take less holy damage. Duel twinblade jump attacks still wreck his health bar. If using 1 twinblade tho I'd reccomend the hidden feather one. Its special effect is soo easy to activate and foes such high damage if you can pull it off. It makes him insta fie after he does his final light massive explosion at 25% health
42:00 i'm guessing the boar dash has two "parts" of the boar both hitting as a separate attack, like the front of the boar and the hind legs both deal damage, so you can't i-frame through the whole length of the boar in one roll, the back side still gets you

57:33 I love you Charlie, but I also want to challenge you, the star fists are the best weapon in the game behind the blasphemous blade and the damage output *is* truly absurd, especially with the stagger capabilities that are on par with colossals, and you have been dog walking the earlier bosses with that advantage present… but that being said, the Messmer fight has a huge power-scale jump, and your damage in proportion to him in that fight was not overpowered at all, in fact it was very satisfying to watch. Also, you are playing with certain significant disadvantages as well, namely your lower flask and scadu level, so you are by no means getting “carried” by your weapon choice alone (you’re actually very good at these games), but up until Messmer the starfists have made the DLC significantlyy easier and I feel like that’s worth being mindful of when discussing other people’s takes on the bosses’ difficulty levels. Thank you bro, I have so much love and appreciation for the great content you put out ❤
The fact he unironically thinks they're a meme weapon or some sort of 'low tier' weapon is wild. I don't care if he thinks the game is hard or easy. But him thinking he's making things harder on himself by using the star fists is crazy. Literally one of the utmost best weapons in the entire game. Both for PvE and PvP.
The starfist are a S++ weapons i dare even say it is a top 3 best smithing stone weapon in the entire game next to the Nagakiba. That is why Charlie was having a easy time in the Game. Don't get me wrong he is a great player but those Starfist are broken. Like bro he is able to stun bosses in a couple of heavies that come out quick, do a crap ton of damage and if that wasn't enough the weapon does bleed on top of that 😭😭
I did the dlc on my old char that I stopped leveling at 175 because I wanted to be able to do proper pvp. I can congidently say that Sote on NG+7 and severely underleveled isnt a good idea. The slightest touch of any boss kills you and I basically did 0 damage. Radahn almost made me cry
Ok the spike balls are kinda cheezy. I can guarantee I had a significantly higher blessing level and my Colossal Sword was not dealing that much damage even with golden vow, despite being significantly slower as well ofc. Even ignoring the balls bleed procs and insane poise damage the difference is huge
The spiked balls, Star Fist, is arguably the best weapons in the game lol. They have crazy AR for how fast they attack. Crazy poise damage, and they have innate bleed. Which fist/claw weapons are great at triggering. I'm not sure why this youtuber implied they're some sort of bad weapon. Anyone in the Elden Ring community will tell you that these weapons are insanely powerful. They're the go-to for hitless runs.
i know right, i was fucking shocked with the damage to divine beast dancing lion, and he staggered it almost instantly. Wish he switched to new weapon early on, and actually experienced rellana and divine beast at their hardest
i used the cold dry leaf fists but kept palm blast and it's honestly pretty solid, does decent poise damage and just damage in general when using a charge talisman and alexander's shard.
I really loved the dlc. The areas were really cool looking, especially the Hinterlands, absolutely gorgeous. I will say that one complaint that I have is that, objectively speaking, alot of the new weapons dont really feel impactful. The only one I can think of is Rellanas Twin Blades. Those were extremely cool and pretty viable (in my eyes). But after awhile, I just went back to my Bloodhound fang because I loved the damage output more than being saucy. And even the kung fu martial arts weapon is pretty disappointing, especially when alot of people said they wanted to go for it. The perfume bottles, they suck and only become a cheese option with a certain ash of war equipped but that got nerfed so they dont even do as much now. And tbf, I dont do damage calcs or look into talismans and other things that can buff weapons. However, imo, the dlc weapons arent really good. What do yall think?

The lack of a good cutscene to wrap it all up is driving me crazy. I was expecting alot more than little femboy Miquella praying for his brother to marry him for the ending cutscene.

I'm struggling to come up with more things to say in a final cutscene that the player wouldn't already know, or shortly learn by reading the item descriptions. OP said they were expecting a lot more than what they got, so I suspected they might be able to elaborate on those expectations so I can understand better. I think it's clear by now that Fromsoftware isn't the kind of developer to make a superfluous cutscene just to "wrap things up"--at least not more superfluous than the cutscenes already in the game. The story was told during the player's playthrough. It's fine not to like this style of storytelling, but it's odd to me because DS3's Ringed City DLC doesn't end with any cutscene at all, but I don't see this complaint for it. If these complains are coming from newer FS fans it would make sense.

They're not, he's invested 80 points into strength. Anything worth that many levels is bound to deal adequate damage. I have 30 levels in strength and get the same results out of Greatswords, weapons with actual range for spacing

The ancient dragons are already such dogshit bosses in the base game, I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to put one in water, where every attack spreads out in a huge AOE.

Midra is hands down my favorite boss followed by Messmer and Rot Bud. I always loved the Frenzied Flame questline and the more cosmic horror of it but we sadly didn't never got a boss that connected to it. Midra for me wasn't that difficult but the frenzied flame appearing where his head once was then getting the title of Lord of Frenzied Flame was just the best. I love the dlc!!!!
I loved that whole section with the stealth. Was very much bloodborne inspired and those Frenzy demon things you have to stealth past are clearly just Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne, the flies you collect in that area are even called Winter Lantern Flies. I really like how Elden Ring really does feel like the culmination of all previous From soft games. You can feel every game, even Demon Souls, Sekiro and DS2. They're all there and combined in such a way that makes it, in my opinion, a near perfect game.
I didn't know what to do with St. Trina there, 'cause I was just dying to her nectar, now I know I'll have to get back there before finishing the game.
the gumption, the absolute hutzpah necessary to claim the star fists aren't cheesy when they are literally **the** speedrun weapon is so comical. the one and only downside of the weapon is its range, which is hardly even a factor if you're doing jumping heavy attacks. You gain 50% bonus strength scaling from using both hands, trigger blood loss, deal exceedingly high poise damage, have nutty base damage to boot, and you don't even suffer the slow attack speed most strength weapons do. There is a reason speedrunners use this weapon. Do not be swindled by the small man's propaganda.
I can’t believe Charlie went the whole time without realizing the fists are unironically one of the best weapons in the game, and were probably THE best before the dlc dropped. They absolutely shred the game.

@@grave666-ed I don’t see how you could possibly say the milady is good, but ignoring that, sure, you listed good weapons. The blasphemous blade is kind of a noob trap though and has nowhere near the potential of the balls for obliterating the game. Bloodfiend arm and dark moon great sword however certainly at least equal its power. The balls are one of those weapons that isn’t obviously “good” at first, but has proven over time that it has a high power cap.
The only thing I have taken issue with in the DLC is the Messmer Knights. I think they're too versatile and have too much hp and poise to be spammed so frequently. Also maybe the final boss is a little too spammy. Other than that, I really haven't had many issues and when I did I just summoned, you know using an intended game mechanic, and progressed from there.

Does he always approach such beautiful games like this? Watched some of the full versions of the playthrough here and there and the craziest thing to me is that he doesn't ever stop to look at the environments or doesn't even talk about it. No marvel, no wonder. Never looks up at anything, it's like the game environment is just a container for the bosses, might as well just be empty spaces and square blocks. All these incredible landscapes and amazing creations from the geniuses who worked on this and he is just rushing through everything to get to the next boss like it's a 20 year old Nintendo game
charlie's being playing video games for like 10 years, 8hrs a day. he's also played every souls game 2-3x. the environments no matter how beautiful become recycled versions of some or other game. so yeah...

2:05:00 as a counter, I’d argue FromSoft has been getting carried away with their prioritization of *hard bosses*. I’ve beaten every Souls game besides demons and it’s clear that from DS3 on, when they started carrying over enemies with Bloodborne speed to Dark Souls, they’ve started steadily increasing the attack chains and restricting the windows of opportunity. To the point where you’ve got bosses like Gaius & Radahn who are just full on ATTACKATTACK mode that isn’t really fun to fight personally. That’s part of what makes Midra the best boss. Gives you time to breathe and really soak in how amazing the fight is.

i don’t know if you even read comments but i don’t think you realize how good the star fist are, it does 2000 damage in half the time it takes other OP weapons to do 2000, it weighs much less than all of them and it can be infused (you can also get it very easily and kind of early) they also get amazing stance damage plus amazing bleed build up with average dodging skills it’s a top 2/3 weapon in the entire game

So a bit of lore for you guys. Miquella, after the shattering, told Malenia about his plan to ascend to godhood. He sent her away to inflict the rot upon Radahn, cleaving his soul away and replacing it with the rot, as revealed by prime radahn's armor in which it says that Malenia told Radahn that he would be his consort. Meanwhile, Miquella enchants Mohg into steaing him away, thereby allowing him to divest his flesh and enter the realm of shadow. Once we kill Mohg (after Radahn), we enter the realm of shadow, and it is then that, thanks to us, he is able to steal away Mohg's body, as revealed by Sir Ansbach. Once in the realm of shadow, Miquella's rune continues to enchant the tarnished warriors into allegiance with him so that he may continue his plan, but as part of his plan he needs to destroy his rune, lifting the enchantment on the tarnished. At some point, he is able to fuse the body of Mohg with the soul of Radahn, as revealed by Prime Radahn having omen horns and the golden eyes of Marika's children and not Rennala's. Finally, during the battle with Prime Radahn, he is able to use a grab attack, that lifts you up to Miquella, and unless you have his discarded rune on your person that resist charms, he will insant-kill you through your own free will just giving up. The lore is a little convoluted, and Mohg is no longer the Mohglester but the Mohglested,but I overall enjoyed piecing together what I could. Lmk if I got anything wrong or have suggestions!
Actually Malenia had to straight up kill Radahn in the Lands Between so that he could be transported to the Lands of Shadow. Radahn was tainted with the power of the elden ring so he was not in a mind to keep his promise to Miquella.
Unfortunately for Malenia, her rot gave Radahn permanent brain damage instead of outright killing him.
It’s never stated that melania knew because she was waiting for him if she knew she wouldn’t have waited. Miquella charmed her and made her fight Radahn. There’s no evidence that Miquella knew melania served the nuke. He used his sister as a means to an end he’s just as bad as his mother.

The lore isn't "convoluted" it straight up doesn't make sense if you think about it.
Miquella healing Freyja in the Swamp of Aeonia while his sister had to be dragged away to the Haligtree already shows whoever wrote the lore doesn't know what they are doing.

About radahn after image attacks. Best way to dodge is it to run sideways at 90°. His every afterimage will miss you. But in the end he himself come at uou. Roll at right time and then be ready to roll it again if he pulling the ground which means he going to do his aoe attack.

Senessax was probably my least favorite fight in the game. Dragons are already the worst fights, then they make one with lighting combos with attacks that hit twice. Had no shame using mimic, and he always died halfway through anyway. I actually found it easier to fight him on foot once I learned his moves.
I really hope charlie makes a boss tier list soon for all the ER bosses, including both base game and the DLC

Fyi if anyone wants to beat the final boss, i noticed through testing that my damage was super high when i was using holy damage.
That and quick multi attacks. Duel twinblades for example.
I went for that and only armour that enhanced levels or damage, no defence talidmans or tears. Learn the moveset and get in those super high damage jump power stance attacks. Damage negation doesnt matter when you learn it and he does super high damage anyway. I eventually got it in sub 30
I just beat him today, second phase was taking less holy damage from my holy build, had to switch to different faith greatswords to finally beat him. Honestly I loved all his attacks but the stupid light show after each of his attacks made it hard to see sometimes. If people are having trouble they should try either bleed or cold, that's my plan for next playthrough
@doomdozer1914 bleed and cold are nice but I found his long combos and small vunerability windows made them less practical than just maximising base damage. Although miquella does make him take less holy damage. Duel twinblade jump attacks still wreck his health bar. If using 1 twinblade tho I'd reccomend the hidden feather one. Its special effect is soo easy to activate and foes such high damage if you can pull it off. It makes him insta fie after he does his final light massive explosion at 25% health
42:00 i'm guessing the boar dash has two "parts" of the boar both hitting as a separate attack, like the front of the boar and the hind legs both deal damage, so you can't i-frame through the whole length of the boar in one roll, the back side still gets you

The soundtrack for the Radahn boss fight is so good holy
57:33 I love you Charlie, but I also want to challenge you, the star fists are the best weapon in the game behind the blasphemous blade and the damage output *is* truly absurd, especially with the stagger capabilities that are on par with colossals, and you have been dog walking the earlier bosses with that advantage present… but that being said, the Messmer fight has a huge power-scale jump, and your damage in proportion to him in that fight was not overpowered at all, in fact it was very satisfying to watch. Also, you are playing with certain significant disadvantages as well, namely your lower flask and scadu level, so you are by no means getting “carried” by your weapon choice alone (you’re actually very good at these games), but up until Messmer the starfists have made the DLC significantlyy easier and I feel like that’s worth being mindful of when discussing other people’s takes on the bosses’ difficulty levels.

You have to admit, the lore of From Soft Games is pretty damn cool
The starfist are a S++ weapons i dare even say it is a top 3 best smithing stone weapon in the entire game next to the Nagakiba. That is why Charlie was having a easy time in the Game. Don't get me wrong he is a great player but those Starfist are broken. Like bro he is able to stun bosses in a couple of heavies that come out quick, do a crap ton of damage and if that wasn't enough the weapon does bleed on top of that 😭😭
I did the dlc on my old char that I stopped leveling at 175 because I wanted to be able to do proper pvp. I can congidently say that Sote on NG+7 and severely underleveled isnt a good idea. The slightest touch of any boss kills you and I basically did 0 damage. Radahn almost made me cry
Ok the spike balls are kinda cheezy. I can guarantee I had a significantly higher blessing level and my Colossal Sword was not dealing that much damage even with golden vow, despite being significantly slower as well ofc. Even ignoring the balls bleed procs and insane poise damage the difference is huge

The spiked balls, Star Fist, is arguably the best weapons in the game lol.
They have crazy AR for how fast they attack. Crazy poise damage, and they have innate bleed. Which fist/claw weapons are great at triggering.
I'm not sure why this youtuber implied they're some sort of bad weapon. Anyone in the Elden Ring community will tell you that these weapons are insanely powerful. They're the go-to for hitless runs.

I really loved the dlc. The areas were really cool looking, especially the Hinterlands, absolutely gorgeous. I will say that one complaint that I have is that, objectively speaking, alot of the new weapons dont really feel impactful. The only one I can think of is Rellanas Twin Blades. Those were extremely cool and pretty viable (in my eyes). But after awhile, I just went back to my Bloodhound fang because I loved the damage output more than being saucy. And even the kung fu martial arts weapon is pretty disappointing, especially when alot of people said they wanted to go for it. The perfume bottles, they suck and only become a cheese option with a certain ash of war equipped but that got nerfed so they dont even do as much now. And tbf, I dont do damage calcs or look into talismans and other things that can buff weapons. However, imo, the dlc weapons arent really good. What do yall think?

I love Shadow of the Erdtree, but I do have some complaints. The timestamp being one of my biggest (and most childish) complaints. The lack of a good cutscene to wrap it all up is driving me crazy. I was expecting alot more than little femboy Miquella praying for his brother to marry him for the ending cutscene.
What would you suggest putting in there?

I'm struggling to come up with more things to say in a final cutscene that the player wouldn't already know, or shortly learn by reading the item descriptions. OP said they were expecting a lot more than what they got, so I suspected they might be able to elaborate on those expectations so I can understand better.
I think it's clear by now that Fromsoftware isn't the kind of developer to make a superfluous cutscene just to "wrap things up"--at least not more superfluous than the cutscenes already in the game. The story was told during the player's playthrough. It's fine not to like this style of storytelling, but it's odd to me because DS3's Ringed City DLC doesn't end with any cutscene at all, but I don't see this complaint for it. If these complains are coming from newer FS fans it would make sense.

They're not, he's invested 80 points into strength. Anything worth that many levels is bound to deal adequate damage. I have 30 levels in strength and get the same results out of Greatswords, weapons with actual range for spacing

The ancient dragons are already such dogshit bosses in the base game, I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to put one in water, where every attack spreads out in a huge AOE.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Combos that Never End
Midra is hands down my favorite boss followed by Messmer and Rot Bud.
I always loved the Frenzied Flame questline and the more cosmic horror of it but we sadly didn't never got a boss that connected to it. Midra for me wasn't that difficult but the frenzied flame appearing where his head once was then getting the title of Lord of Frenzied Flame was just the best. I love the dlc!!!!
I loved that whole section with the stealth. Was very much bloodborne inspired and those Frenzy demon things you have to stealth past are clearly just Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne, the flies you collect in that area are even called Winter Lantern Flies.
I really like how Elden Ring really does feel like the culmination of all previous From soft games. You can feel every game, even Demon Souls, Sekiro and DS2. They're all there and combined in such a way that makes it, in my opinion, a near perfect game.

the gumption, the absolute hutzpah necessary to claim the star fists aren't cheesy when they are literally **the** speedrun weapon is so comical. the one and only downside of the weapon is its range, which is hardly even a factor if you're doing jumping heavy attacks. You gain 50% bonus strength scaling from using both hands, trigger blood loss, deal exceedingly high poise damage, have nutty base damage to boot, and you don't even suffer the slow attack speed most strength weapons do. There is a reason speedrunners use this weapon. Do not be swindled by the small man's propaganda.
Once the drama dies down he should change the title back.

I can’t believe Charlie went the whole time without realizing the fists are unironically one of the best weapons in the game, and were probably THE best before the dlc dropped. They absolutely shred the game.

@@Nightmare-pj4fg blasphemous blade is the best base game weapon and one of the best weapons in dlc and then builds like darkmoon great sword builds and with dlc weapons like bloodfiends arm and milady are better
@@grave666-ed I don’t see how you could possibly say the milady is good, but ignoring that, sure, you listed good weapons.
The blasphemous blade is kind of a noob trap though and has nowhere near the potential of the balls for obliterating the game. Bloodfiend arm and dark moon great sword however certainly at least equal its power. The balls are one of those weapons that isn’t obviously “good” at first, but has proven over time that it has a high power cap.

The only thing I have taken issue with in the DLC is the Messmer Knights. I think they're too versatile and have too much hp and poise to be spammed so frequently. Also maybe the final boss is a little too spammy.
Other than that, I really haven't had many issues and when I did I just summoned, you know using an intended game mechanic, and progressed from there.

I find it funny for charlie to be going in on anyone critiquing boss design only for him to be making the same complaints about them while still saying that its not true.
"ive done every quest" proceeds to have no summons available for the leda fight and misses one of the coolest moments of the dlc
Does he always approach such beautiful games like this? Watched some of the full versions of the playthrough here and there and the craziest thing to me is that he doesn't ever stop to look at the environments or doesn't even talk about it. No marvel, no wonder. Never looks up at anything, it's like the game environment is just a container for the bosses, might as well just be empty spaces and square blocks. All these incredible landscapes and amazing creations from the geniuses who worked on this and he is just rushing through everything to get to the next boss like it's a 20 year old Nintendo game
charlie's being playing video games for like 10 years, 8hrs a day. he's also played every souls game 2-3x. the environments no matter how beautiful become recycled versions of some or other game. so yeah...
him sprinting through the entirety of midra's manse was dissapointing

Because of bosses with timing switch ups, I dodge based off of reaction time instead of timing itself, surprisingly works great for me

2:05:00 as a counter, I’d argue FromSoft has been getting carried away with their prioritization of *hard bosses*. I’ve beaten every Souls game besides demons and it’s clear that from DS3 on, when they started carrying over enemies with Bloodborne speed to Dark Souls, they’ve started steadily increasing the attack chains and restricting the windows of opportunity. To the point where you’ve got bosses like Gaius & Radahn who are just full on ATTACKATTACK mode that isn’t really fun to fight personally. That’s part of what makes Midra the best boss. Gives you time to breathe and really soak in how amazing the fight is.

that last radahn fight is crazy, I accidentally did the dlc on NG+ and I could not do it without mimic tear and a crazy shield build

i don’t know if you even read comments but i don’t think you realize how good the star fist are, it does 2000 damage in half the time it takes other OP weapons to do 2000, it weighs much less than all of them and it can be infused (you can also get it very easily and kind of early) they also get amazing stance damage plus amazing bleed build up with average dodging skills it’s a top 2/3 weapon in the entire game

i've never done a fist build but it sounds pretty cool! i feel like a major drawback would be range though since you have to pretty much up their ass to attack. is star fist the best fist weapon or is there anything better than that?

star fists are 100% the best fist weapon and the ONLY bad thing is the range, worst part about the range is sometimes even if you 100% are as close to the boss as you can be it’ll still sometimes miss but it’s still insanely overpowered
