    This happens usually when you have bad battery or you plugged in a scan tool to the car that the car didn't like it will cause this sort of issue. Or one of your Modules on High Can bus is bad like CEM, ECM, Awd module, BCM..

    I have a 2011c70 . shut off while driving , crank no start, had it towed home , seemed like fuel issue for sure. only code was a misfire . No immobilizer code. Checked PEM for corrosion , looked good. Found no access to fuel pump under seat so i figured I should make sure it was fuel pump before going through all the work . Watched your video and turned key off and on five times and car started immediately . Has been running ever since . Changed key fob battery . Still do not what caused the problem. It is better to find a problem and fix it than having it go away and you never know what the original problem was.

    Btw. Had similar issue and fixed it. First I changed the battery in the key. It helped for couple of starts, but then the problem came back. Then I tried the second key. It worked for a while but again, the problem returned. So I switched back to the first key. And ever since the problem was gone.

  • @imqqmi
    @imqqmi ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you, the second method worked for me. Just open and close the physical keyhole and key twice, then the car would start without the 5x on/off technique. Could be a combination of both methods though, who's to say? Previously I got a tip to get out of the car, lock it with the key button, wait 2 minutes and try starting it again, that worked for most of the time but not this time. I leave my car unlocked when in my garage box. Maybe I should lock it anyway. Btw the keyhole was hard to use as it barely gets used and was stuck, after applying more force on the key than I was comfortable with it turned in the end. So make sure even if you don't have this issue that the keyhole turns smoothly in case you need to 'reset' the car if you ever need to!

    • @imqqmi
      @imqqmi ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had this problem once more and none of these tricks worked, spend 15 min on it. I popped the hood, gave the braking module a few taps with my fingers and the problem was gone. Most likely a connector issue/some corrosion or something. It's usually when the weather is wet that this problem arises. The module can be found on the right side of the motor block (S60 at least), there's a cylindrical thing sticking out of a black box, and the brake tubing enters the device as well.

    Great info thx. My 2004 S60 wouldn't start after the remote fell apart while tin the ignition. When I repaired the remote, the car failed to start. It turns over, but will not start. Lots of fuel in the tank but, I added gas antifreeze, at 0 C ( 32 F ) but it still won't start. Now I'm checking the fuses...also, I have to reverse the key after the first attempt or it won't turn over at all.

    The violet wire should be 1 volt with key on, engine off. At idle, it should be around 1.7 volts and will increase with air mass as you increase throttle. Green wire is 12 volt feed. Violet with white stripe wire is 5 volt reference. Gray with white stripe is ground. You have an issue with your signal wire, check the harness for damage or shorts. Also make sure your other circuits have the correct reading.

    • @BuiltForSpeed
      @BuiltForSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already checked the wiring it looks fine. The sensor reading when checking on scan tool or logging it is at max when i disconnect the sensor the readings drop to 0.

    • @tazz9690
      @tazz9690 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something is obviously wrong. Just because the wiring looks fine doesn’t mean it is fine. Have you checked for continuity from the connector at the MAF all the way back to the ECM? Having 8 volts when you’re supposed to have 1 volt on your signal wire is why your MAF reading on the scan tool shows it’s off. Either you have a short to power, chaffed wire, or potentially ECM could be backfeed if through that circuit.

    • @BuiltForSpeed
      @BuiltForSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tazz9690 i checked the wire from half way about i have not pulled the ecm yet i will do that next if it checks out idk might have to crack the ecm open. I knew the voltage with ign on should be 1v and when running 1-2. I don't understand why its so high. The thing is if i disconnect it it goes to 0 so obviously has something to do with the sensor. Because if there was a short to power the ecm would see it with maf sensor connected or disconnected no?

    • @tazz9690
      @tazz9690 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuiltForSpeed so with the car running and the sensor disconnected it goes to 0 volts? If so, check the other wires for the proper voltages. That signal wire gets its voltage from the sensor and sends it to the ECM. If one of the other circuits are bad, could be causing the signal wire reading to be off.

  • @danielbalesteri2211
    @danielbalesteri2211 ปีที่แล้ว

    If someone else had the car could of at one time swapped wires in the wrong position inside the plug end. Might wanna check the correct path and if not do a ohm's test. On the wiring each one testing from one end to the other end and you'll find your bad wire then.

    Do you know if this immobilizer message is similar to the "Start prevented try again" message? Mine tends to crank at times, other times you'll hear the relays and then it would start up and cut off with that message displayed which I mentioned. I dont think I tried the procedure you outlined but i tried similar ways, which seemed to work once or twice and then it got worse and just wouldn't start. Its with the Mechanic now and he confirmed the diagnostic tool showing a transponder error. Would this mean the transponder needs replacing or the key needs to be reprogrammed?
