I own one. It keeps up just fine on the road. It does lack passing power to go around other vehicles quickly. I’ve test drove the Camry, you can feel the upgrade in this Lexus.
This car will do really well in Canada (especially Toronto / Vancouver). I have an 08 ES350 and I would genuinely consider this if I was in the market for a new Lexus. As a daily commuter it is comfortable, quiet and spacious; excellent qualities especially with all wheel drive up north. A luxury car that runs on regular gas. Amazing!
you probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last months xD
Great service is everything Todd. If I have to spend "more" to be redirected towards better customer service in a Lexus dealership versus another competitor's dealership, yes, I am willing to pay a premium. Because on a weekend, when I have to get my vehicle checked out at a dealership I want to be treated with respect and not like shit. If I have to deal with crap, I'll just go back to work, Ravi Peiris M.D.
Man I was so confident getting ready to buy this car tomorrow. And then i read this comment. I didn't even think that far down the line. Considering its almost 50k, now im scared this will dip in cost
I have a Prius for 10 years and I just love it. I'm looking for a second car. Think this would be great because I test drove a V8 engine and that is wayyyy too much power for me. Thanks for the review.
I know the reliability won't quite be the same as Lexus, but for the price, you can get an Alfa Romeo Ti Sport Carbon in AWD for around $50k. That's the way I would go.
Doesn't Alfa Romeo lose half its value in a couple of years? People buy Toyota for reliability. People buy Lexus for that same reliability with some luxury. Both hold their value quite well.
I don't know why journalists try so fucking hard to point out negatives as if they have to win the argument. A Lexus is a a segment above the comparable Toyota. I've owned Toyota and Lexus. Have owned flagship Toyotas, and also currently have an LS460 and always get an ES loaner. If all you care about is cost, then even a Camry or Avalon is too expensive compared to a Kia that can have a comparable ride and feature count. What matters is build quality, attention to detail, comfort, as well as Lexus service. If you say that doesn't matter in a decision, you haven't owned both. This kind of flawed thinking is the reason manufacturers keep listening to brain-dead journalists and have built every car to perform around corners like it's on rails vs offering a quality drive.
I have no shame into saying this but i want a luxury to grab more kitty and this car wont help me. Im thinking of cla45 and tlx (the highest trim i can get)
I'm not wild about the interior styling. There are a lot of seams and gaps on the steering wheel, in the front seats, and elsewhere around the cabin. For an interior that is mostly black, the overall look is surprisingly busy. I'd love to see a mid-cycle refresh with some edits and refinements to the interior. Then again, I'm not the target audience for this car.
Most Toyota high end interfaces are awful period. try the wireless charger with a case, good luck. The Stinger is great but is anybody buying them? Recheck the price of the fully loaded AWD Camry.
The car for when you are dead inside. The sad part is the 8 speed auto is a huge win compared to the "new" IS300 AWD which comes with a six speed auto.... I dont get why you want something this boring to be reliable and last. This is misery in a box
Lexus should’ve just used the detuned 3.5V6 from the newer IS300. I’d rather them put the 2.5V6 from the 06-15 IS250. No one wants a 4 Cylinder Luxury Car And that came from Lexus in the late 90s
Camry for the win.. the doors and electronics both suck for older people. For god sakes give me a bmw 3 series manual. Or a v6 4wd camry. Both FAR better choices
The Lexus ES is a car for people who think that all cars drive the same, and the only reason anyone buys a Porsche or Lamborghini or Ferrari is for the badge and looks
I dont think lexus knows who to sell this car to. Its slow. Its expensive and its not at all sexy looking or fun. In 8 years I would buy one with 125 k miles for 5 grand as a winter car.

Yep
Can't factor out cost of ownership over 10 years because that is a big reason why people buy lexus.
Granny won’t mind the drivetrain because she already drives 10 miles per hour below the speed limit.

Lexus lineup is quite attractive. E350 and IS350
I think the Avalon would be a better 2nd choice vs the Camry
Will be the perfect commuter car in 5ish years when they are sub $20k.
You already know I'm getting that. Also an Acura ilx a spec in that beautiful blue will be like 10k
Man I was so confident getting ready to buy this car tomorrow. And then i read this comment. I didn't even think that far down the line. Considering its almost 50k, now im scared this will dip in cost
Don’t think it will take 5 years because this tiny 4cyl will not sell and meet Lexus’ target numbers! Maybe 3 years??
I like the car but just like Camry it needs to have 3.5 V6 option for awd that would be better

But there is a difference in getting the fun option vs the sensible option.

I bet people that complain about the 4 cylinder have a 4 cylinder truck.
Paul, is that a Tudor GMT you are wearing?

Just don't open the door all the way , the reach is no problem.
Majority of us are not paying 53 grand we are waiting when it’s old

Wouldn't buy one new, it would probably make a great second hand commuter in a couple of years
Over $50K for a 4 cylinder Lexus? WTH! Should have given it the IS 300 engine! Probably would sell better!
Most Toyota high end interfaces are awful period. try the wireless charger with a case, good luck. The Stinger is great but is anybody buying them? Recheck the price of the fully loaded AWD Camry.
$53k and orange peel on the trunk lid. Next!
Great video. That’s a joke title that was worth the payoff at the end.

Exactly. .. they could have easily just used the 2.5 V6 engine if that was the case
@@larkt6693the 2.5 v6 from Toyota was actually the worse engine they have ever made
Is this Matt Farrah's million mile Lexus ?
My God. I’d rather buy an Avalon TRD than this beige disaster.
Lexus is a boring 401k? Hey guys, how are your cryptocurrency portfolios doing? 😄.
Camry for the win.. the doors and electronics both suck for older people. For god sakes give me a bmw 3 series manual. Or a v6 4wd camry. Both FAR better choices
V6 4WD Camry? 🤔 let me know when they make that
The best financial advice to give an ES buyer is buy a camry. They won't listen to you.
