    I am one of the ES250 owner who drive this car on sport mode 24/7 and always pushing it in corners. I change the rims to volks racing NE24 with the same factory 18 inches spec pair with Michelin PS4, the NE24 wheels up the game for acceleration and nimbleness in Corning ! You can easily feel the difference

    Great video as always, but don’t quite get the idea of soccer balls, if you want to generate a data pool for comparison sake, just providing boot volume figures kinda already does that. Much prefer the suit cases 👍

  • @nchia
    @nchia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    TBH, I find it more useful to find the maximum height with a useful depth, and maximum usable width for boot space. I don’t often store soft cushions to fit the space, but boxes, suitcases, coolers, that’s more useful.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We’ll trial it for a period and make a decision on whether to keep the measurement or not. The benefit is that they legitimately fill the space and will build a good database of how big boots really are with a uniform device to measure with. Suitcases weren’t telling us a great deal as there is no uniform size in the market. Still, as always, we test to see what works and what doesn’t. Those tests require more than one video to understand the effects.

      @@chasingcars I get it. What if you included the minimum width, height and depth in the comments? You also need a conversion of your S, M and L suitcases to equivalent soccer balls.

      @@chasingcars i think it was a wonderful idea to show the actual storage capacity with the number of soccer balls. Tbh it was refreshing.

    I was shocked when Lexus dropped the IS and RC

    • @christhornycroft3686
      @christhornycroft3686 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They still sell them in Canada, and I’m glad, because they can focus on the ES being a luxury car while the IS is the more sporty model - the only one left in a V8. A luxury car should be a luxury car. No one should be seeing a chiropractor after driving a Lexus. But they’ve got the IS here for those kinds of people. The problem is that every luxury dealer is slapping a turbo onto a tiny engine and nixing the naturally aspirated stuff, which they claim is better for the environment, but have fun when those engines wear out twice as fast. All I care about is comfort and convenience. If you want a sports car, get one.

    Another great video guys! Although not so sure about the footballs, I found the suitcases quite relavent as that's a legitmate concern when buying a car :) Also Lexus bean counters really should put the ventilated seats back this a must in a country like Australia otherwise this becomes an expensive Camry and can't really justify the purchase

    What will happen with SUVs? Will the soccer balls flow over the rear passenger seats, or will you close the parcel shelf blind?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plan is to go to the window-line on SUVs, hatches and wagons - because it’s usually the driver’s goal not to have their vision obscured by luggage. Speaking for myself, I only ever stack luggage above the window line (and therefore in my line of sight) if it’s absolutely necessary and unavoidable, which would be once a year at most.

    I like the colour combination (a change from plain old black or grey interior). If only Lexus would get rid of the (imo) ugly grill which keeps me from buying one and also that touch pad which to me is more dangerous trying to use when driving instead of keeping your eyes on the road. So many manufacturers seem to think that we in Australia don't need seat cooling and just offer seat heating. Not suitable for our conditions.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed - that said there are a couple of weeks in winter where I appreciate heating. Cooling more relevant though!

      @@chasingcars Thanks for your comment Tom. I have a Hyundai I30 Premium which has both. I just don't understand the rationale of only seat heaters instead of both. My Genesis had both and it was a pleasure in both winter and summer to have a warm bottom!

    Engaged driving is not an honest comment, in my opinion. The car is good, but it is pretty sluggish unless you go for the hybrid version.
    Though the cabin insulates the noise, the non hybrid version is getting a fair bit of engine noise.
    Please review both the pros and cons and compare it with rivals to make it a useful review.

    This car is more of a premium car rather than a luxury sedan. After all, it shares its transmission, platform and engine with the Toyota Avalon. But as such, it's a great car and a great value. But it's no match for the turbo charged, rwd competition from Korea or Europe.

  • @hartoz

    So basically it's a gussied up Camray.
    Same engine and a pleather interior for $60k+ doesn't sound like much of a bargain to me.
    Not really good enough to be called a Lexus, and definitely not at that price.
