What you can clearly see in the 2 photographs is just how much better makeup is for women of color in 2024 than in 1997. She looks very gray in the older photograph and very natural in the 2024 photograph.
Law coordinating the looks whilst coordinating his look whilst coordinating everyone looking is the very definition. We are watching fashion’s overthrow from the inside and I am here for it.

Yes! The hair is better now, the makeup is better. The 1997 makeup is NOT a good shade match smh, it made her look ashen and worn out. She’s glowing in this new picture.
@@tifftreads yeah but it’s like trying to be “trendy” but not even doing it well. It’s kinda like when old people try to make a show about teenagers and the things they do, say, and wear? That’s how it feels
I do think an updo would sell it more. But I don't mind a natural hair look. Also barelegged changed the whole look. Also let's not tear down women, or people in general, in the comments like that? Like. The video is about the dress. The fashion. The fashion history.
Fashion in the 90s to me just hits so hard. What is it about that decade that made for SO many iconic moments?? Thats something i could watch a deep dive, hell a whole deep dive series that goes brand by brand.
During the 90's, the feminine shape and s3x appeal was in style. After that, there was a backlash bc of it. There was too much focus on women's bodies in the 90's. Too thin, too much skin, too much for the male gaze, etc. But it was beautiful when you look back at a glance. The 2000's blogs like the Man Repeller blew up and changed fashion. Feminism collided with fashion trends, and you saw it reflected on runways- just like you saw it on runways in the 80's with all of the boxy business suits on women. We're seeing an emergence of feminity again finally after 30 yrs. Ruffles, body hugging clothes, the female form is being honored again, but this time on diverse models and not being done for the male gaze.
Naomi looks fabulously awesome! 1990s Karl was enlarging and displaying the codes beyond Mlle’s ladylike notation. He upset many of the old school with his shorter skirts and oversized jewels. I have a belt from that era with a saucer sized CC dangling front and center from a 1” wide signature leather wrapped chain . Karl attracted the youth to what had become a stodgy old house. In wearing the re-styled dress today we see Naomi continuing to keep Chanel forever young. A twenty three year old would happily wear that dress.
I thank g-d every day that i watched Fashion Television with my dad and Jeanne Baker all throughout the 90's I loved the runway shows OMG its so fun to see it all coming back, from 8 to 38 ❤❤❤
I love your videos and your channel. Youre super smart And you have great defenses of your strong opinions which I like. I'm three times your age and I'm learning a lot from you and I've been following fashion since I was 8 in 1968! Someday you'll be editor of a great magazine. I can see that right now
Yeah and did you see how insanely gorgeous she also looked at the Met. I didn’t even realize it was her at first. I would buy every book, fitness plan, surgery list recommendations from this woman.literally if she says to eat dirt I would.
Does anyone else think the straps might have been a small nod to the famous painting Madame X? The original painting was done with the straps off the shoulder, but it was re-done with on the shoulder straps because it was considered indecent at the time to have the straps fallen. The fact that it's black with the jeweled straps and the fact that it's got both on and off the shoulder straps made me immediately think of this painting and the story behind it, but I might be stretching.
SHE is a SUPERMODEL ok can i just say I'm so sick of Law Roach and his thinking he's the star? A stylist should have their work on the client who is on display. The stylist who is competing with the star is like a wedding guest wearing white and arriving late to the ceremony
I love this dress. It has loads of interest. It's elegant and sexy at the same time, and it's got history. Naomi Campbell is insanely beautiful in it, now as then.
Must say, look at how the lower edge of the the encircling strips are not sewn down to the sheer organza skirt. They are cut ever so slightly flared so that they hang away, giving the dress that extra edge of three dimensionality when Naomi moves. That is couture. I'm certain this rather simple dress was knocked off at the time, but I doubt any Chinese sweatshop bothered to analyze and reproduce the little details that truly make this dress so stunning.
That was deliberate. She wants you to know that she looks as good, if not better, than when she first wore it. She is definitely flexing.
Naomi in a nutshell
@@abandonablesnowmanThis goddess of a woman has earned every right to do what the hell she wants!!! Love her!!!
I mean if I was in her shoes, I would def do! But hey, that's her job! I'm a software engineer and I gain weight just by stressing 😭
And?
If you got it flaunt it !

Yes I noticed that too. Very bad skin/makeup matching
That part!
Hallelujah!
Yes! I could not stop looking at her makeup in the first photo.
We have to note though, that lighting and cameras are much better also.
It’s not just her face that has the greyish hue, look at her arms.
Law NEVER misses with styling!!! 👏
Love him, but his fit is looking a bit grandma-ish with this one. It's a miss for me...🤷🏽♀️
People roasting him for looking like Madea and I see it here!! Child 😂
Still thinish and mean needs to be ......
Imagine being that stunning and iconic all your life.

"I couldn't fit into things from 2 weeks ago." too funny!
Tooo real 😂

STUNNING!!! She looks even better in it this go around!!!
I said the same to myself. Maybe it's the hair.

No she definitely looked sleeker back in the day❤
She looks absolutely stunning and beautiful. Ageless.
The styling this time is even better! I absolutely love her hair like this & her makeup is divine! She looks incredible 😲
Agree, like the styling better now, but she looked good in both. Of course she has Law Roach as a Stylist! 😊❤
She slays always
My jaw dropped when I saw Law we STAN THIS KING he is so brilliant and just pure talent I’m so happy to see his career excelling
Timeless. Stunning. Just *chef's kiss*
*Current* Chanel could never. I miss Karl
I had the same thought! As soon as he said Naomi wearing Chanel, I instantly thought to myself ‘this can’t be current season it’s too good’ 😂😂😂😂
Agreed. Current Chanel is a joke and the fashion style is a little too on trend and accessible.

I think THIS is what should be gleaned from it!! Chanel isn’t at all what it use to be!

She's simply an icon living ❤❤❤
The haters in the comments😂😂😂 jealous that a woman can be stunning decades later and still fit a dress 27 years later😂😂😂
This vintage Chanel dress is sooo gorgeous 😍 ✨️ 💕 💗
It's not vintage. It's 27 years old. Something has to be at least 40 years old to be considered vintage.

To answer your question, lack social media is what makes that decade iconic.
I grew up in the nineties as a teenager. I just can't explain the vibe, but I can tell you it was AMAZING.
I would love to see a 1990’s Chanel long form video. The looks they produced then are unmatched now
I would absolutely love to see this, too!
Me too! Me too!
✋🏿 I would like to see that too
Law roach is doing the things and I love that for him ❤❤❤❤❤
She looks even more beautiful now!
I adore her hair in the recent look so much :) I feel like it works so well with that dress ^_^

And I love her hair curly!

Beautiful!
So sheer dress was already a thing in the 90s ? This is a beautiful sheer dress though, unlike many of the sheer dresses we see today.
the recent one is either a recreation or adjusted because the lines on the recent skirt don't flare out like in the older picture
