I love this actually It fixed my least favorite part of the OG jokepasta: the fact that i doubt Luigi would actually hate Mario in any way the two are great brothers inseparable, even sure, i can get Luigi being jealous, feeling mistreated by others but he'd never actually hate his brother ... this is wonderful.
I Really like how after that brutal death, Luigi just Apologized to Mario and then goes to that Star from M64. Connecting it to L is Real! That was Actually Very Good!

2:06 I was taken by surprise by the change they made in this part, for those who don't know, there are 2 versions of this game based on the original creepypasta, one is a romhack of Super Mario World and the other is a recreation of the same game but with some differences such as the final scene (or the large number of screamers), but precisely in this recreated version there was a secret in which if you swam beyond the tube where it has to enter, the weegee meme will appear in that part , this was more of a joke on the part of the developer but the fact that they replaced the image of Weegee with a more disturbing photo of Luigi makes me see that this reimagining of the creepypasta is more serious with the theme (unlike the original creepypasta ).
The story-telling had me awe-struck, and the idea that Luigi's fight stemmed from mistreatment and anger was such a better idea than "Loogi EVILLL!!1!" You can feel the brotherly bond in Luigi's final words. My own two cents on the lore: Luigi was always second banana to his brother, and everyone treated him as such. To Mario, Luigi was the best brother he could've asked for; to everyone else, Luigi was just Mario's sidekick. Luigi's blood boiled more and more with each passing comment, and King Koopa took notice of it. Meeting up with Luigi, King Koopa managed to make Luigi believe that all of his problems stemmed from Mario and his status, and if Luigi were to kill Mario, he would be the crowned hero he so rightfully deserved to be. With Luigi's judgement clouded by anger, he agreed to the King's terms and watched as the Koopa army constructed a base for Luigi to reside in until Mario came to fight, what the red plumber thought would be, Bowser. Only in Luigi's final moments before being incinerated, did he finally realise what he was doing and who convinced him to do it. But by then, it was too late.
That really sums it up!! I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, i’ve always enjoyed Mario and Luigi as characters very, very much, so of course none of them would actually hate each other… But seeing the RPG’s and the way some people treated Luigi really just makes you think on how many feeling he has hidden, he deserves so much more love! ♡

Came here from Gearisko's TH-cam videos series and honest to god. This may be the best interpretation of the original story I've ever seen. Luigi's actions being from mistreatment instead of just being evil took me by surprise, but it actually works extremely well here. Add the brotherly bond interpreted in this retake, and it adds an emotional aspect that holds so much power. The ending of the bossfight, though with the audio being a bit too bitcrushed for my liking, is just so unnerving. The pixel art for Luigi's melting face is genuinely so impressive, and the dream sequence afterwards, ending with the L is real statue really ties the whole video together. I'm sure there are some small aspects that people tend to nit pick, but the story telling in this video honestly kept me invested the whole way though. It just gets better with every rewatch. Amazing stuff vinnaki! You have incredible talent and it shows here! Keep up the amazing work and I'm glad this video is now being more noticed! :DDDD

This ending makes me sad yet happy because sad because Luigi doesn’t have any hatred towards his brother anymore which is happy but yet sad too because it’s like Luigi is apologizing for everything he has ever done and is speaking to Mario for the final time. Also, you never see The Undead Version Of Luigi because in the original version he is all burnt and dead because the only thing keeping alive is his own hatred for his brother, while in this version you don’t see that because his hatred isn’t keeping live because, well, he doesn’t have that hatred anymore, which means that he can finally be free and not hate his own brother anymore. Overall, this is amazing Re-Imagined version of I Hate You, this also makes no one the bad guy in this version and add like a little more lore which is cool. What I’m trying to say is that you’re extremely underrated, and this is the first video I seen on your channel. Keep up the up the good work!!!
I like how this was basically the opposite of the original i hate you creepypasta. In the original, luigi hated mario, he worked with Bowser because of this. Here though, it looked like he hated everyone BUT mario, because everyone mistreated him. It looked more like he took his anger out on mario for being the CAUSE of the problem instead of wanting to kill him for BEING the problem. I dont think bowser was even mentioned here The mushroom dosnt scare or kill you, it helps you. It even ends with luigi saying "i love you" and ends with the L IS REAL fountain (i believe that is ment to be his grave) instead of his burned corpse. I feel like this implies that dispite what he did, mario forgives him. I really liked that it was more emotional than scary, and not relying on constant jump scares, unlike the original. My only complaint is that the mario corpses were too dark to see. I didn't notice them until i rewatched it

WAOW, THAT S**T GOOD!!! I LOVED the gameplay and the bossfight with Luigi. But when Luigi died, the screams felt so unsettling and creepy. Even the sprite work for the Luigi close up was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I thought it would turn for the worst, but somehow Luigi forgave Mario in the end! What a good ending!!! I HATE YOU.EXE has been an amazing global phenomenon when it came to the original game by Andre Theomguy back in 2015. And after all those years, this was a global phenomenon right there! 🏆🎉🎊💰
Without his baby bro by his side, Mario could not live on. Luigi was not his sidekick. He was his second half. The L-shaped puzzle piece that made his world complete. Mario's last great adventure would be to go with his brother on his permanent vacation to paradise, but it would take a while to get there. He kept calling Luigi just to remind him he was coming, that he loved him, too, and that he wouldn't be alone anymore. But every time he tried, every time he jumped off into nothingness, waiting for that cape to transform into wings and a halo, he'd wake up as if nothing had happened. Damn those 1-Ups.
I always believed I Hate You was one of the better Mario creepypastas (the bar wasn't too high to begin with), and even liking it I still had problems with it. This retake, whilst it doesn't capture the mediocrity of an old creepypasta romhack (one of the things that make them so memorable imo) does an amazing job at a retelling of the story, and I prefer it infinitely. The design for the levels and the bossfight is outstanding and the choppy gameplay recording does it's job well (I may not be it's biggest fan but it helps what you're trying to do, making it a lot more immersive which is way more rewarding imo). The only part that irks me is the part with Luigi's face being burnt, but that's just me lol I'm not a big fan of those kinds of imagery, however I have to admit the spritework for it is impressive. Even though I'm not a big fan of that kinda stuff it still manages manages to keep me hooked, I'd say you've done a splendid job. And I can't skip talking about the 1-1 section, it is the highlight of this retake and it fixes what I disliked most about the original. Luigi would never hate Mario no matter the circumstances, he was just in a bad place and he absolutely would apologize for his wrongdoings. It's bittersweet, and I'm glad it ends with a proper send-off showing Luigi's grave (i guess his L is real pahahaha lol) TLDR amazing video. im excited to see what else you'll make in the future. gl!!
I actually also like that it implyed the player never expericed the horror side only mario could see all the horrors and seeing luigi being melted down. Same with mario going through luigis final thoughts.
Vídeo's a year old already, but i gotta admit, considering the tools you had (a jokepasta that focuses waay too much on a fictional character's feelings, instilling no fear on the readers) you did a pretty good job, especially the audio for Luigi's death and the World 1-1 slowly distorting.
This is a really good and emotional retake on "I HATE YOU"! Loved it to the very end but I still have some tidbits if issues with it. 1. The quality at the beginning of the video being quite poor I find to be very weird and a choice that really did not work out until the end, especislly considering it was dropped halfway thgrough 2. The flashing backgroundat 5:19 really hurts to see and I believe it should have been toned down or actually be the same background as Donut Plains 1 but with the color more desaturated and the sky grey to fit with the sadness factor of it Except of that, the rest is phenomenal! The sprite works are on point! The ones at 5:09 and the fountain at the end are really great work! The boss fight looks really fun to play and that "OH GOD NOOOOOOOO" and Luigi's scream were extremely unsettling and distressing. The signs at the last stage were really emotional and got me in the feels a bit... I believe it was the perfect way to end the story with Luigi finally admitting his wrongdoings and telling how much he loved his brother. It's really a fantastic remake of the creepypasta

i remember the day Markiplier uploaded his "Mario.exe" video with the original game. It fucked me up bad as a kid lmfao, that ending screen is tame in comparison to other horror media i watched at the time but it always stuck with me. It all felt so surreal and unlike any other "mario but creepy" thing at the time. This brought back those feelings in a nostalgic but still unsettling and uncomfortable way, but the ending was sweet and oddly calming after the chaotic scares. The bittersweet speech trough signs against the uncomfortable but hypnotic background was closure that was needed imo, and the L is Real grave as the ending screen is so fitting for this retelling. Also the small nods to other interpretations of the story like the luigi face at 2:06 are nice! Definitely my favorite version of the story now :-)
While the immersion was a bit TOO immersive, with it being hard to watch once the framerate dropped, the visuals lowered in quality, and the audio became distorted... Really, everything else about this is great. I especially like the idea of the final, post-battle level that is Luigi's posthumous lament. Here, the immersion feels a bit less jarring, with only a few sounds and music being hearable, and some just not being there. And, if those parts that were painful were painful on purpose, then you accomplished that.

Aseprite is the program I use for pixel art, I just did the base head and started getting silly with it until I managed to make a spooky luigi, then edit that same drawing to make the burnt one :)
The things i don't like is that in map screen you used the original exe version and for the rest of stuff you used SMBX. But i like the Mario19 reference.

Came here from Gearisko's TH-cam videos series and honest to god. This may be the best interpretation of the original story I've ever seen.
Luigi's actions being from mistreatment instead of just being evil took me by surprise, but it actually works extremely well here. Add the brotherly bond interpreted in this retake, and it adds an emotional aspect that holds so much power. The ending of the bossfight, though with the audio being a bit too bitcrushed for my liking, is just so unnerving. The pixel art for Luigi's melting face is genuinely so impressive, and the dream sequence afterwards, ending with the L is real statue really ties the whole video together.
I'm sure there are some small aspects that people tend to nit pick, but the story telling in this video honestly kept me invested the whole way though. It just gets better with every rewatch. Amazing stuff vinnaki! You have incredible talent and it shows here! Keep up the amazing work and I'm glad this video is now being more noticed! :DDDD

>the spritework was pretty on point, the boos specially look really nice looking
>a boss fight that felt like an actual mario series boss fight (the og having megaman boss bars was so weird and funny that seemed more like a parody from newgrounds)
>even tho its a re-take/remake, it was still very close to the og story, keeping the core and the level designs intact while getting rid of some of the major fluff
cons:
>while using SMBX is fine, because of how the thing looks and plays, its very on the nose that what we see is SMBX, however, since its supposed to be an .exe, a modified SMBX level pack/mod does fit still pretty well, not much of a con, just pointing it out
>the whole 1-1 level was pretty unnecessary, i feel like it wouldve been more effective for luigi to come out of the lava, badly burnt, and in an act of desperation and guilt tell everything that happened to mario, and as luigi dies out from the burning, mario would start to tear up in grief, realizing what just happened and what he had done
>the oblivious and unaware protag trope that vibing leaf has been doing recently while it was fresh at first, is starting to become annoying and it really throws the immersion out of the window, and it does make me a tad bit sad other content creators are starting to do that same thing, no shame to VL, absolutely LOVE their videos, just wish they would make a protag/narrator that felt like an actual person instead of billy from billy and mandy

This ending makes me sad yet happy because sad because Luigi doesn’t have any hatred towards his brother anymore which is happy but yet sad too because it’s like Luigi is apologizing for everything he has ever done and is speaking to Mario for the final time. Also, you never see The Undead Version Of Luigi because in the original version he is all burnt and dead because the only thing keeping alive is his own hatred for his brother, while in this version you don’t see that because his hatred isn’t keeping live because, well, he doesn’t have that hatred anymore, which means that he can finally be free and not hate his own brother anymore. Overall, this is amazing Re-Imagined version of I Hate You, this also makes no one the bad guy in this version and add like a little more lore which is cool. What I’m trying to say is that you’re extremely underrated, and this is the first video I seen on your channel. Keep up the up the good work!!!

I like how this was basically the opposite of the original i hate you creepypasta.
In the original, luigi hated mario, he worked with Bowser because of this.
Here though, it looked like he hated everyone BUT mario, because everyone mistreated him. It looked more like he took his anger out on mario for being the CAUSE of the problem instead of wanting to kill him for BEING the problem. I dont think bowser was even mentioned here
The mushroom dosnt scare or kill you, it helps you.
It even ends with luigi saying "i love you" and ends with the L IS REAL fountain (i believe that is ment to be his grave) instead of his burned corpse. I feel like this implies that dispite what he did, mario forgives him.
I really liked that it was more emotional than scary, and not relying on constant jump scares, unlike the original.
My only complaint is that the mario corpses were too dark to see. I didn't notice them until i rewatched it

Mario's last great adventure would be to go with his brother on his permanent vacation to paradise, but it would take a while to get there. He kept calling Luigi just to remind him he was coming, that he loved him, too, and that he wouldn't be alone anymore. But every time he tried, every time he jumped off into nothingness, waiting for that cape to transform into wings and a halo, he'd wake up as if nothing had happened.

I always believed I Hate You was one of the better Mario creepypastas (the bar wasn't too high to begin with), and even liking it I still had problems with it.
This retake, whilst it doesn't capture the mediocrity of an old creepypasta romhack (one of the things that make them so memorable imo) does an amazing job at a retelling of the story, and I prefer it infinitely.
The design for the levels and the bossfight is outstanding and the choppy gameplay recording does it's job well (I may not be it's biggest fan but it helps what you're trying to do, making it a lot more immersive which is way more rewarding imo).
The only part that irks me is the part with Luigi's face being burnt, but that's just me lol I'm not a big fan of those kinds of imagery, however I have to admit the spritework for it is impressive. Even though I'm not a big fan of that kinda stuff it still manages manages to keep me hooked, I'd say you've done a splendid job.
And I can't skip talking about the 1-1 section, it is the highlight of this retake and it fixes what I disliked most about the original. Luigi would never hate Mario no matter the circumstances, he was just in a bad place and he absolutely would apologize for his wrongdoings. It's bittersweet, and I'm glad it ends with a proper send-off showing Luigi's grave (i guess his L is real pahahaha lol)

I actually also like that it implyed the player never expericed the horror side only mario could see all the horrors and seeing luigi being melted down. Same with mario going through luigis final thoughts.

Vídeo's a year old already, but i gotta admit, considering the tools you had (a jokepasta that focuses waay too much on a fictional character's feelings, instilling no fear on the readers) you did a pretty good job, especially the audio for Luigi's death and the World 1-1 slowly distorting.
This is a really good and emotional retake on "I HATE YOU"! Loved it to the very end but I still have some tidbits if issues with it.
1. The quality at the beginning of the video being quite poor I find to be very weird and a choice that really did not work out until the end, especislly considering it was dropped halfway thgrough
2. The flashing backgroundat 5:19 really hurts to see and I believe it should have been toned down or actually be the same background as Donut Plains 1 but with the color more desaturated and the sky grey to fit with the sadness factor of it
Except of that, the rest is phenomenal! The sprite works are on point! The ones at 5:09 and the fountain at the end are really great work! The boss fight looks really fun to play and that "OH GOD NOOOOOOOO" and Luigi's scream were extremely unsettling and distressing. The signs at the last stage were really emotional and got me in the feels a bit... I believe it was the perfect way to end the story with Luigi finally admitting his wrongdoings and telling how much he loved his brother.

i remember the day Markiplier uploaded his "Mario.exe" video with the original game. It fucked me up bad as a kid lmfao, that ending screen is tame in comparison to other horror media i watched at the time but it always stuck with me. It all felt so surreal and unlike any other "mario but creepy" thing at the time. This brought back those feelings in a nostalgic but still unsettling and uncomfortable way, but the ending was sweet and oddly calming after the chaotic scares. The bittersweet speech trough signs against the uncomfortable but hypnotic background was closure that was needed imo, and the L is Real grave as the ending screen is so fitting for this retelling. Also the small nods to other interpretations of the story like the luigi face at 2:06 are nice! Definitely my favorite version of the story now :-)
While the immersion was a bit TOO immersive, with it being hard to watch once the framerate dropped, the visuals lowered in quality, and the audio became distorted... Really, everything else about this is great.
I especially like the idea of the final, post-battle level that is Luigi's posthumous lament. Here, the immersion feels a bit less jarring, with only a few sounds and music being hearable, and some just not being there.
And, if those parts that were painful were painful on purpose, then you accomplished that.
You even added the weegee Easter egg

Aseprite is the program I use for pixel art, I just did the base head and started getting silly with it until I managed to make a spooky luigi, then edit that same drawing to make the burnt one :)
