I remember what a wonderful stink off of them, and the heat off of the sides at Kings X while sitting at the buffers, I liked Inter City, the onboard catering was far and above superior to today that’s for sure
Well before electrification, in 1980 the trains were generally the new HSTs and the older Deltics. There are two tunnels near Grantham, Stoke to the south and Peascliffe to the north.
I see the northern signal box had already gone by then, but the one at the end of platform one was still their. in the late sixties I use to go down their to watch the London bound trains arrive and the whole platform use to shake like an earthquake as they put on power to pull away from the station. Thanks for taking me back in time.
The roaring hum of that deltic @ 2:39 just oozes pure beastly heavy duty power.

Such amazing footage, many thanks!

Your Welcome, pleased you enjoyed the video
Great footage, brings back memories of train spotting instead of being at school! Is some of the film from the late 1970's?
Glad you enjoyed it - all filmed during 1980 that I can remember
Out of curiosity, did you ever get caught truanting?
