Incorrection, diesel fumes are not harmful to breathe in, many people confuse diesel exhaust for gasoline exhaust. Gasoline exhaust will kill a person, diesel will not. you could put 10 people in an insulated room, hook up the exhaust from a semi truck and the exhaust will not kill anybody. a person will die from lack of oxygen before they die from the actual particulates of diesel exhaust.

+Mitch S LOL diesel fumes are toxic and contain carbon monoxide lower concentrations than gas but do nonetheless

Only 30 minutes? We use 60 minute cylinders in the UK. Why use 30 minutes?

+JW93Emergency lower the fatigue levels because they last 20 minutes and they're lighter to carry. also makes for quicker entry intervals which means while primary group is cycling out a new group is cycling in quicker and they have fresh personnel inside quicker. pretty much just to keep firefighters from over-doing it. our department has a '4 cycle/4 pack' rule meaning we can go in 4 times with 4 packs and once we've reached our 4, we're done inside unless cleared for salvage/overhaul duties. we do it because sometimes firefighters would go in 6 or 7 times n suppression and would eventually pass out from heat stroke or fatigue would cause injury and we would have to send in more crews to get them out, so Chief made the 4 cycle/4 pack rule to prevent excessive injuries that could have previously been avoided

That does make sense. Thank you for your explanation. :) If you have any questions about firefighting/ems here in the UK then please feel free to ask.

you are welcome sir. and yes absolutely, I definitely will, thank you for the offer too as well. I love going to different departments to see how they operate. every department operates differently and it never hurts to try and learn new techniques. Certain techniques may not be for everybody but they help many
