Wanted to buy a clean low miles TR6 in 1980 for $2,000, but my husband did not like the car. I still regret not buying the car, and husband turned out to be not worth keeping.

    Manfred

As an owner of a "6" for 38 years, I can attest to these points. I'm as big or bigger fan of the car today as I was the first day I bought it.

Reason number 11 to by a TR6. Because it would look great sat between my MGBGT and MG Midget and I quite like the idea of having a foot in both camps 👍

Love my TR6, drive it more than any other classic in my small collection, around 3k miles a year. Perfect on the Dorset lanes. Proper British Sports car.

OMG. The sound. I loved it at the time, but I'd forgotten just how it sounded over the past 50 years. Once more, thank you!

I'm on my 4th TR6, and I love it, but it's a 1976, 48 years old, and always needs something...

Just one error, the straight six engine wasn't developed from a tractor engine, that engine was the big 4 cylinder engine that started in the TR2 and ended in the TR4A. This engine was developed from a Ferguson tractor engine. The straight six first appeared briefly in the Standard Vanguard Six, then in the Triumph Vitesse, originally at only 1600cc, but finally in 2litre form in the Vitesse 2litre, Triumph 2000 series, and the GT6.Its origin was in the 4 cylinder , OHV engine designed in the 1940's for the Standard 8 and 10 small saloons introduced in the early 50's in 803 and 948cc's respectively. These cars were replaced by the Triumph Herald through the 1960's with capacity increases from 948 via 1200,1300 and finally 1500cc's, with a debut in the Spitfire introduced about 1964. In a strange twist, it also ended up powering the last MG Midget series in 1500cc form. Essentially the 6 cylinder engine was one and a half of the 4 cylinder one....look at the block and head castings and that stretched rocker cover pressing, and the position and mountings of the ancillaries were virtually interchangeable. Internally, it evolved via different bores and strokes into the final 2500cc engine, that appeared first in the short lived TR5, then into the TR6. About the same time, it was introduced into the successful 2000 Mk.2 saloon body, becoming the Triumph 2.5PI. I've had cars with all variants of these Standard-Triumph engines over the decades and the sixes were always sweet, free revving engines, and very easy to work on too.

I’ve just bought a white N reg myself but I must ask what seats those are in your car, they look very comfortable and great looking too.

well you are the Joker ok as per your reg. problem is if you release a video...10 reasons not to buy a TR6 you are telling people not to buy a TR6...and any car lover knows the fixes and accepts them and wants to keep them on the road to interest of classic cars...so your now changing your direction which is good with a balanced video which is more around identifying issues.....remember nobody ever said it had no issues but we all know they are still worth buying. Hope you can understand where i am coming from. yours is a lovely one exactly the same as mine right down to the colour :)...great taste

As to the parts suppliers.. "you pay for what you get". I disagree. You often get poor quality at high prices.
One very well known company, who has headquarters in the USA west and east as well as England, is famous for this.
And to that add nearly non existent "customer service".
I know very little about the Brit based suppliers.
I'll stand my ground on not liking the Triumph TR6 as much as other Brit cars. This based on first hand experience working on them.
I do not care for the ride, the handling, or the cramped cockpit spacing. They are industrial compared to other marques.
They do have looks and the sound , but that is not enough to make a sale.
Thanks for the video, well done.

    Reason number 1: it’s a chick magnet.
