I'm a new runner, just started in February when I turned 40. Never been a runner my entire life. Hated it. Now I'm running about 18 miles a week in Nimbus 25 and Propel V4. Love both, especially these NB
Hello. I'm always impressed with your vids. I'm also consistently impressed with the dedication to creative content. The dedication you keep reminds me that your dedication to running is healthy and seems to be minimum in the injury category. I always find joy in your content. I especially get a kick out of all the shoe review episodes you create Thank you so much for all of your expierence and knowledge. Sharing this with us is a diamond my friend. Good luck.
Dear God can NB pls release a color way that doesn’t look like an 80s senior citizen Velcro non-slip. I love how their shoes are feeling in shops when I try them on but I have to vibe with the color way.
I have both the Propel v4 and the asics gel cumulus 24. For any type of running I honestly would pick the Propel any day hands down. It’s softer, more bouncy, arguably better grip and overall just makes me feel better while running. I think even compared to the other shoes you mentioned, I’d still prefer the propel v4 for various different reasons However, since the cumulus is more traditional and flexible, it is a great shoe to use for casual wear.
Good insight. Novablast 2 giving me arch soreness, not sure why perhaps its a bit unstable. Looking into propel v4 for a squishier and stable long run days, and maybr a bit of pop from the plate? Not sure though if they do give that slight spring sensation like the tempos, would love to hear if they do.
I purchased this as a tempo runner as I was excited as a 2E runner to find a wide fitting shoe with a plate of some description! While they are heavy I’ve really enjoyed picking up the pace in them. Managed a PB 19:00 park run last weekend!
Very under-rated show. Had V1 which was a,squish fest but with a broad base. Tried running in non-plated shoes per many reviewers recommendations but did not work. But these were traditionally good. Better than Pegs, asics novablast, and Saucony ride. The propel v3 is available in some online- stores for $50.
Loveeee the propel 4. Personally I don’t think it’s stiff at all. I had gotten the Novablast 3 and thought that was stiff and too tight. Donated them after 50 miles. The Propel is sooo good. And the all white colorway is so dope!
They’re not really comparable. If you have a specific question, let me know. Or feel free to come by the livestream where it light be easier for me to understand what information you’re specifically looking for
Thank you for keeping the little people in mind. We all want the Prime X and the Vaporfly, but most are literally struggling just to eat ant keep a roof, water, phone and power. So thank you so much for your time and knowledge share! :-)
depending on where you are in the world you can already get it discounted at below 100 bucks. previous years' flagships rarely come in enough size options when they're on sale so i think this is a good option
for literal years, I avoided discussing price at all for precisely the first premise stated in this comment also for literal years, I avoided discussing prior year's shoes for precisely the second premise stated in this comment it constantly varies by time and place
Another great review, Kofuzi! You make me want to buy all the old models you’ve mentioned. Novablast 3 was my first real running shoe and it was all thanks to your review. I’m also curious as to why you hate the word ‘investing’ 😂
Yeah, I'm gonna have to try all the models he mentioned in the video. I got a few pairs of the novablast 1's to tide me over recently. It's such a great shoe for me. I wish they kept making them forever.
I ordered Propel v4 as soon as it got on sale here it europe and got it for about 90$ to replace my Puma Velocity Nitro 2. On paper it has everything that you might want. A good upper, a plate for some stability and fuelcell for squishiness and bounciness. Unfortunatelly for me the weight kills it. When you run in it feels quite good and when you pick up some speed you can feel the hints of greatness but unfortunatelly those are just hints. It feels like they were so close to a perfect budget shoe but fall a bit short. On the other hand if you're a new runner and that is going to be your first shoe, most likely you can't go much better. I had to return my as it is probably my crooked legs but even at a 5k run I felt pain in achilles.
@@danieltay1052 Probably propel is slightly more bouncier but not a lot if any. In terms of comfort and overall velocity is just a better shoe. For me propel was a bit to wide and to heavy. Velocity is a much faster shoe and still has as good cushion as propel. Velocity also has a more breathable upper.
Love the review! I just got back into running, been using some beat up ultra boosts, very uncomfortable. This is my first running shoe purchase and I’m super pumped to try them out this weekend and experience an all around better run. I lucked out and got the “unpopular” color bone for a mere $80 (I love the color so win win).
Best all around shoe that you could get for your money and with a plate too. This is shoe is so comfortable underfoot, reminds me of a smaller version of the SC Trainer.
I have my Propel V2 at the office and actually did my easy run in them yesterday. The looks are terrible for V2 🤣 but the shoes are good for both easy runs and workouts (at my level). My V2s are at 650 km and I've actually been thinking about upgrading to V4 so thanks for this review!
I have the v2 RMX with also over 600kms and seems still holding pretty well but less responsive. I will give them 200km max and retire them. They have been great!
Thats interesting regarding Endorphin Pro 3 pairing, i'm a big-time pronator and the fuelcell in the propel V4 is just the right softness for me - combined with that plate, but i need a lighter shoe to race marathons in. One down side I do notice with the Propel V4 is that it doesnt get me forward very well and i'm a midfoot striker, but for long runs i dont mind that so much.
As far as a shoe for training is concerned, isnt it less of a deal for the shoe to be heavier? Like if you train with a heavier shoe and then on workouts and race day the race shoes should feel superlight and you'll perform better? Or does the weight affect the stride so much as to mitigate thw advantages?
I have the Propel 3 and they're great for all day standing at work. The black color way matches with any of my scrubs. Got them for $55 at Dillards last year and the outsole is holding up well. Amazon has v3 now for $65 and I've got it in my cart whenever I'm ready to replace the old ones.
I tried the propel v4 and I hated them. The toe box was smaller, the insoles were not grooved, the uppers were not breathable, and the midsoles were too squishy. The shoes hardly resemble v3's and they're only good for neutral runners. I went ahead and bought v3's again.
6:23 Is the Propel really viable for XC? The outsole looks really smooth. Something like the Pegasus or a Puma shoe with a properly designed outsole look to me like better bets for varied surfaces.
I've tried them on in the shop, but not in running yet. Seems the fuelcell midsole is different than Rebel v3 has. It feels much closer to the Freshfoam X in 880v12.
I don't anticipate reviewing Norda shoes. Given that my longest term review is after 100 miles, I don't think I'd be able to do the shoe justice. It's most poignant selling feature is it's longevity, and I just don't run enough trail miles in a year to be able to review the shoe properly.
My friend bought the Propel v4 and was very impressed until he ran in the rain and was slipping and sliding on the road . It does have a lot going for it especially dry conditions but not slick conditions .
I have the NImbus 25 and I'm absolutely loving them. Tried to give the More V4 a chance but I did not enjoy that shoe. Would like to see NB make a More version of Fuelcell (full FC w/ no plate) that has a wider base. I would buy that in a heartbeat
Ive been looking for a new runner since the nike zoom fly 1 and there hasnt been anything that I personally like. These look real similar in spec, so I might give these a shot. Does the plate in the propel do the same thing as the zoom fly 1?
Hello kofuzi, good day! I am a big fan of yours. From 🇵🇭. I would like to ask for your opinion. What shoes should I go for between this shoe NB propel fuel cell v4 or asics nimbus 22? I would like a shoe that can be use for longer runs 21k or more and that is durable outsole. May I ask for your help. Thanks
the nimbus 22, when new, would have had the more durable outsole. but the shoe is 4 years old. I'm not sure I can still say that it would be more durable of an outsole however, I would like to point out that people tend to think that outsole durability is the same as midsole durability. it's not always true.
Thank you so much. There’s a reseller here in our place that has the brand new nimbus 22 and on sale. So I checked your vid review about it and I was thinking maybe it will be good for daily trainers. Thank you so much

Curious if you've had a chance to try the New Balance 860 v13 and what your thoughts are on it. I went to a running store and they recommended these to me based on my pronation. I've been using the Peg 39 for the past year without issue. Not the most exciting shoe, but a trusty workhorse indeed.

Really enjoyed and appreciated your sharing about comparison with similar models! Quick question: Asics Cumulus 25 -or- NB FuelCell Propel v4? If I can get them both at the same price. I’d like to have a pair as an all time go-to for my upcoming races and trainings, or even comfortable to walk in casual days. (More info, I train intervals/strides only once a week, along with 3 more jogs/easy runs that might take up to 1.5h, mostly on tracks and asphalt surface. Generally I prefer shoes breathable, light & stable, and easy to dry when training during rainy seasons in Taipei.) Thank you so much for your replies in advance! 😀🤍🙏🏽
Hi bro, can u make a comparison video between propel v4 & cumulus 25? Both shoes are considered daily trainers but has different level of comfort - fuelcell & flytefoam.

The shoe I will compare it the atreyu base model v2..price is way lower and maybe the midsole foam feels the same as the both brand is supercritical midsole?
Hi, I purchased propel v4, but it feels there is something just below toe balls and that hurts after few kms, I exchanged but the replaced shoe also have the same issue, what could be the issue any suggestions ?
I don’t find the Pegasus to be comfortable for casual wear I don’t find the Ultraboost to be worth the $180 retail price (maybe some of the earlier ultraboost 1.0 versions could be worth it though) Fuel Cell Propel v4 is comfy and a great price. Not super exciting though, visually.
Great review, I think you raise a interesting question of Is it Price or Value for running shoes. If you where comparing the propel v1 vs the v2, v3 and v4 not other shoes or brands, the Interesting question is do you go with the v4 because it now has a plate, and the old premiums materials are now filtered down to the budget range. Lets say that all the version where still 110 bucks, the version v4 would win on a value proposition because of the added technologies. Now if you had $140 to spend and if you compare just on price alone, lets say v1 is $50, the v2 is $60, the V3 is $70, would you still go with the V4 at $110 because you are getting the premium product vs it's previous version. Would you buy the v4 or a combination of pervious version..?????
I usually have a bit of a hard time justifying the purchase of a new budget shoe. I'm not sure I'm even ready to think about buying previous gen budget shoes (assuming that they can be found at the prices you propose, which I'm not sure they can)
My 100 miles I love em more and more I thought they were great just bad for wet conditions but running in hurricane Hilary proved me wrong they held up great got mine for 87 for the black and orange color way the upper isn’t the most breathable but my feet don’t get all sweaty in them and I live in the southern California desert 108 easily most days
@@kofuzi 😭it was probably considered normal weather for a lot of places it only rains here in the imperial valley 1 or 2 times a year other parts of Cali were hit more
I tried a previous version after so many rave reviews and I absolutely hate it ... they feel extremely firm to me, and I don't feel that bounce nor any cush that everyone seems to rave about!! Maybe I'm too slow to appreciate it!!
not sure about the hype for this shoe. tried it on the store, not liking it. even if you want a budget plated shoe, just go with the discounted saucony endorphin speed 2.
my friend, please consider watching the video past the first minute before you write a comment. there's an entire section of this video that goes over comparable alternatives - specifically, high end shoes from last year, just as you have suggested in your comment

Do you recommend this one for offroad running?
depends on how much off road
@@kofuzi like running on a mountain?
The shoe I will compare it the atreyu base model v2..price is way lower and maybe the midsole foam feels the same as the both brand is supercritical midsole?
Nope
Got a pair but got damn they're tight in the toe box. Had to send them back
Sounds like a fuelcell version of Fresh Foam 880?
yes and no
Please review the next ASICS Noosa
I do not have plans to review that shoe
How this shoes compare to novablast 3 in terms of long run user?
I prefer the novablast much more. a lot springier, squishier, and fun to run in at all distances versus the propel v4.
How does it compare to the Novablast 3?
it's firmer and heavier
Hi, I purchased propel v4, but it feels there is something just below toe balls and that hurts after few kms, I exchanged but the replaced shoe also have the same issue, what could be the issue any suggestions ?
You and the shoe don’t seem to get along. Try a different shoe
Is it okay to use it for standard workouts?
Can you elaborate? Like gym work? Lifting weights?
I always recommend against using running shoes for lifting
@@kofuzi yes gym work, such as on treadmill, CrossFit classes with light weight (5/10kg) lifting, upper body training, LBT& UBT classes !
I want to buy just for casual wear, a shoe that is very comfortable should I get Pegasus 40 ? Ultraboost ? Or Fuel Cell Propel v4 ?
I don’t find the Pegasus to be comfortable for casual wear
I don’t find the Ultraboost to be worth the $180 retail price (maybe some of the earlier ultraboost 1.0 versions could be worth it though)
Fuel Cell Propel v4 is comfy and a great price. Not super exciting though, visually.
@@kofuzi thank you sir 😊
Is the Propel v4 a reincarnation of Fuelcell TC?
I wish
IMO while trying my friend shoes : it has a poor lockdown, quite heavy (300 g) on men size and so-so grip.
what are you comparing it to?
@@kofuzi Puma DN2
I think the propel 4 is more like a midrange than a budget
if I only have two categories: budget and not-budget, which would you have this fall under?
Im us size 8 iis it ok to buy size 8.5 for this shoe?
Probably
I'm not sure I'm even ready to think about buying previous gen budget shoes (assuming that they can be found at the prices you propose, which I'm not sure they can)
Will this be good for runners with wide feet?
Yes. I've got wide midfoot and this show is comfortable for me.
@@pparardyathank you!
Love it
What a shoe!!
Hurricane testing sounds pretty intense
@@kofuzi 😭it was probably considered normal weather for a lot of places it only rains here in the imperial valley 1 or 2 times a year other parts of Cali were hit more
I tried a previous version after so many rave reviews and I absolutely hate it ... they feel extremely firm to me, and I don't feel that bounce nor any cush that everyone seems to rave about!! Maybe I'm too slow to appreciate it!!
what shoe(s) have you been enjoying instead?
@@kofuzi Surprisingly the Boston 10 on days I feel good, contrary to popular opinion, though above all the Triumph 20 and Invincible Run 2!!!
where's rebel v4 ffs
Whats your opinion compared to adidas solar boost 4?
I didn't try the solar boost 4
Hawaiian shirt and the dad color way shoes, I see what you did there.. 😂
I didn't do it intentionally, but perhaps something in my subconscious dad mind was pushing me in that direction
You can get the Propel V3 for$50.
I got it for around $90 did a review and returned them.. lol im contemplating now that was really really cheap
Yo, what’s going on!!!
yo Luis!
Can you review a pair of Heelys
probably no
New Balance has a few ugly color ways, they need to do some rebranding. The SC elite looks good.
Its seem a reasonable shoes
that's a good synopsis of my video
not sure about the hype for this shoe.
tried it on the store, not liking it. even if you want a budget plated shoe, just go with the discounted saucony endorphin speed 2.
my friend, please consider watching the video past the first minute before you write a comment. there's an entire section of this video that goes over comparable alternatives - specifically, high end shoes from last year, just as you have suggested in your comment
@@kofuzi I did, always do with your videos 😁. just adding another option to the alternatives from last year (or 2 years for that matter), because you didn't mention the speed 2 which has the same feature as the propel 4 (a plate). Or you did but I missed it? sorry if that is the case.
Honestly it reminds me of the ES 2. I don’t personally feel the weight in this shoe. I think this shoe just works really well for me. My Fave Daily Trainer over the last few years for sure.
First!
Too firm for my old body.
First
302 g 10.7 Oz….. 😂 no thanks… I will buy the rebel v3.
Weights aside, the two shoes are quite different
@@kofuzi do you realize that the fuel cell foam in this propel is so much firmer than on the rebel v2/v3 ? Why call them fuel cells if different?
