Over 10 years ago he gave me this same advice in person, as a novice guitarist I didn't listen and was completely self taught. Well I still have issues naturally implementing pulls offs after years of picking everything. It only comes naturally when I use no pick and I hate that. And my ONE lesson I took from the great Josh Meader last year absolutely opened my mind and changed how I look at the fretboard forever. Worth every penny. I will certainly be taking a few more lessons in the future to break some of those bad habits I created. (When I can afford it haha) These days you can do them over Skype no problem

Playing guitar is more than just moving your fingers around a fretboard. Listen- train your ears to really hear the music. This will help you learn to play by ear- a powerful tool. Then learn some basic music theory. I know some will say you don't need this but I disagree. It will help you communicate with other musicians, transcribe songs, improvise, transpose, play riffs and leads and generally just know what the heck you're doing. Do that and you won't just be a player, you'll be a musician. Good luck young pups.

Great advice, one thing I argue is, learning on TH-cam will help but your learning curve is going to climb wayyyy slower than having a physical teacher.

Hi Morrisman, great vid. by any chance do you know the chorus Chord progression for Ernie Isley - Diamonds in the rough? I’ve been figuring it out mostly by ear and haven’t figured that out. I think it maybe is something like Esus2-c#-g#m-f#m maybe to start. Live is a little blurry
