A common misconception of those being led. Yes, there are bad managers. Many. But there are also many good managers. Often those who are being managed only realize they are being managed when they do something wrong, something against the plan. When someone is managing you properly, you often feel empowered and confident, even when things do not go according to plan. That is when you start thinking you do not need your manager failing to realize the only reason you feel empowered and confident at work is because your manager is good and has created an environment where you can feel this way. You are lucky to have such a manager. Another failure is when people believe that their manager is not doing their job, therefore, he/she does nothing and is not needed. One should remember, a manager is not there to do your job. If they were there to do your job, they would be one of your colleagues not your manager. ;)
This was a really inspiring talk and a must watch for anyone who manages (or has a manager). Thank you for sharing such great advice!
