Hello from France, I've recently bought the same guitar, and i'm concerdering creating the same setup as you. To your knowledge has anything better come up since this video was made. (I've heard about the MIDI GUITAR 2, which sound nice and could also be midi controlled, but needs an Ipad). Thanks for your help
you prolly dont care but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last couple of months xD
Hi, beautiful guitar ! wich ampli and fx to have this sound (ampli/ clean/dist/rev/delay) ? wich mike used to record it ? any limit in the use of midi (bending or else..) ? is the mounting of FishTriplet easy and reversible (only aesive or screws) ? Calibration ? Had you to reduce the gauge of the strings or no delay problem at all ? Thanks much ;-)
ErkaMau I am just using the Line6 Helix for effects and amp modelling directly into my DAW through USB. When I play live I use two FRFR speakers for a stereo unchanged sound. No Mike required. No limit to midi, you just need a good sound module, everything is software based these days which in my experience creates latency so I went and bought an old Roland JV1080 and it’s virtually instant as a hardware synth module. Also, getting the USB converted to the DIN midi can be a little tricky. The mounting bracket can be taken off in minutes, the only thing I don’t know is how easy it is to remove the stick on pickup shim, apparently the glue is some special 3M glue that is fully removable with no marks. I found 10s work best from a string gauge point of view. As mentioned, I found the latency dreadful on the software synth but the hardware synth it’s excellent. It is all a bit fiddly and the software install is quite complex and puts many people off. You have to be very patient to get good results, but it is capable of good results.
@@davidupton8100 thanks for the reply, I saw a review comparing YouRockGuitar vs your system, yours seems no able to get legato, useful a virtual midi breath controller, any news/update about ? Did you tested it ? Apart this point, system came out the winner, have a nice day
ErkaMau I’ve not tried YouRockGuitar because it’s a full instrument rather than something you put on your existing guitar. I want to be able to get all the Variax guitar models and Magnetics too. There are a lot of settings with the TriplePlay and of course the synth settings. With some settings and synth sounds the tracking is very quick, I would have though approaching Legato speeds, it just varies as to the accuracy of pull offs and hammer ons. Again I’m not using it for this, you do have to change your style a little to get the most out of it.
I am using the Fishman into their FC1 footpedal and then in this video this goes to a MidiPlus hardware synth which creates the synth sound and sends it the Helix. I then take it as a stereo return 1/2 on the helix which allows me to control the mix of it with the guitar across different snapshots. Also I can apply additional Helix effects and use it in the looper. Whilst I can switch patches on the FC1, I also have a midi out from the Helix to the FC1 which allows me to program midi patch change commands into the Helix. This means I can have a different midi patch for each snapshot if I want to, or I can use the latest Helix version to assign commands to foot switches. Some of my other videos try and explain some of this. It does result in an epic setup, particularly for a covers band.
Cool

This really is one outstanding video, one of the best I’ve seen in ages for guitar modelling.
You really have to try a SIM1 with this,
Alec Bourne - Midi Mad Scientist Hi, sorry just noticed you post from a few months back, many apologies. Many thanks, I’ll have a look into the SIM1

@Brooks Rafael definitely, been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
@Brooks Rafael yup, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself =)

Hi - can you explain how you got the FTP set up and attached to the 59? Many people are saying they couldn't get it close enough to the strings
if i had this i would never leave the house
I don't 😂

You need to add a Boss SY-1 pedal.
Question: Are you using the Fishman in conjunction with the Helix? Or are you running the Fishman through a separate DAW?
