PRS 'Paul's Guitar' Owners Review (what are they really like)
มุมมอง 7K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is an honest opinion of my new PRS 'Paul's Guitar' recorded just to provide anyone that's interested in one with a bit more info. I use a Line 6 Helix Floor for all my tones directly into my DAW, these days I use this and stereo FRFR's on stage too.

Wow! what rig do You used with Helix, please?
@@giuseppeluce2505 Hi, for my videos, I use my Helix directly into my sound interface and into my DAW. On stage, I use 2 Headrush 112s running in Stereo and then feeding on into the PA. It gives an epic stereo spread on stage and out front. My Marshall Stack gathers dust and hasn't been turned on for about 5 years.
Have you played the cheaper JS240 and if so how do they compare?
Not a big fan of this guitar. It looks too tacky, especially with those pickups. The JEM looked fine.
I just purchased one of these from Sweetwater zero% financing/special labor day sale. can't wait to play it \m/
This is such a catchy number, its screaming out to be a song with words too. Great job Dave.
I think this could maybe have been a bit of music from Miami Vice. Really liking the vibe.
@@richardbennett2512 thanks Rich
Great track Dave
Superb
Awesome guitarist and song writer in his own right, but also a superb guitarist and song writer for The Sonical. Add this talent to the covers band, Deeper Cut, that he is a member of, and you have a not to be missed talent. Highly recommended. I will definitely be checking out Think Again. Cheers Dave.
@@richardbennett2512 Many thanks Richard, much appreciated, I've got a lot to live up to now 😂
The sound is always spot on.. Joe is a master of performing his music..
Dave this is splendid ! You nail this tune. The soul of the great Shane is here. You play very well and your sound is magic. Bravo !!!! Do you know please where I could find this backing track ?
Wow thank you, I've always loved this tune so decided to give it a go last year. I think I just used the Pogues instrumental version and used EQ to back off the lead instruments so the guitar stands out more. th-cam.com/video/Z9FzsWSuLrg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OCcdxvS75yFaRXO7
@@davidupton8100 thanks you for the answer. I will have a look at this backing. And begin now to learn the lead parts to be ready for Christmas 😉🎄👍
@@SandroGomes-dw5jx They make fantastic guitars, Ibanez and PRS being my favourite brands. I'm sure your RG 350 is also an excellent guitar. Learning never ends with guitar, it's a life long journey, yes top end guitars are beautiful to play, and nice to aspire to own, but you will be able to learn just as well on your RG, enjoy your journey
Thank you for sharing your guitar. You talked me into one 👍
Nice guitar! Nice review. I have a couple of USA PRS, a Singlcut 594 and a Silver Sky, and I’ve been thinking this or the Modern Eagle V (Similar I think, but with a single coil in the middle position) would round out the stable. PRS is n their golden era, making the best guitars they ever have. I’ve been selling off Fender, Gibson and Martin guitars for me. I’d also like a PRS 12 string, I always like an electric 12. I have a mid 2000s OLP (MusicMan copy) which is really high quality, low action and perfect intonation on all 12 strings at standard tuning.
@@DennyBob521 Many thanks. I certainly agree PRS are in their golden era, they are exceptional guitars, the Paul's guitar has stopped me buying and wanting new guitars. I also have been selling off my Gibsons (not so much Fender) as I don't play them anymore. The Modern Eagle V is stunning too, I may trade some more of my collection for one of these at some point. I have a Custom 24 I love for songs that need the trem, but I'd love to have a trem and the TCI pickups (as well as the Paul's for the fixed bridge).
They don't sound like single coils Fender vintage noiseless in that strat are not single coil pickups they are stacked humbuckers.
Sound is really muffled. I wanted to like this bro, but something is wrong with the sound setup.
@@Rons-yz5qt That's a bit odd, everyone else comments on how good the sound and tone is and it sounds fine to me. Try listening again or on a different device.
I’ve had Gibson Les Paul and fender strats. But I now play nothing but PRS guitars now.
@@donaldallen4285 Yes I just sold both my Les Pauls. I rarely play anything other than my PRS's.
great playing and sound,👍 great background music, can you send a link to what it is?🙂👌
Now you need to get a better mic for your posts. Hard to understand you mate!
The amp is mic’d. What else you need.
Sounds lovely...well played.
Many thanks Carol, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Dave. I bought a TriplePlay with the foot controller about 4 years ago. Installing the pickup was easy and i was able to hook it up to my iPad just fine but wasn't able to play all the soft synth sounds that i had paid for so I put the whole thing away. I'm a retired guitarist and I own quite a few synths, arrangers and high quality sound modules. Your video is giving me new hope for the TP. It seems to me that using the TP with a MIDI sound module maybe much simpler than with VSTs on my iPad or computer! My sound modules have both 5-pin MIDI and USB. Do you recommend going MIDI out from the foot controller to MIDI in on the sound module? It almost looks like you're able to bypass the foot controller altogether. Is that correct? I would be grateful for any help you can provide!
Xpensive. Very very xpensive
Excellent playing and beautiful guitar!
Many thanks Albert
Congratulations on your fantastic guitar. I have the small red JS100 bought out of curiosity and for the beauty of the body. Very high build quality for the price. It completely captivated me. After seeing your test I will move on to the higher models.
Thanks Albert, I have a JS100 too which I had painted by a Scottish artist used in this video th-cam.com/video/306bl2SND8w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QEaudXCqoSmvdf0S I have to say it is brilliant. I upgraded the pickups to the Sathur8 in the bridge and the PAFJOE in the neck and it's stunning. Also I love the neck profile. There is something really top quality about the JS2480 but I have to say the JS100 is a spectacular guitar.
what are ya playing into?
I'm playing through a Line 6 Helix amp modeller then straight into my DAW.
*JS best*
24 frets would be useless to most players!
Where do u get that usb dongle?
Do you mean the one that comes with the Tripleplay?
@@davidupton8100Hi Dave. What sound module did you end up switching to and is the hook up just as simple - just plugging the TP USB dongle into the foot controller then MIDI out to the sound module? Thanks.
Wow, this sound! Great!
Can you have low action on that guitar? I've heard the fretboard is round like a fender strat.
I think it depends on your definition of low. Everyone who picks mine up comments on how low the action is, and I think it's lower than my PIA. Here's some info on how Joe has his www.satriani.com/2000/about/gear/setup.shtml
Hi, is this still for sale?
16:10 Why’s the gob open Dave? You think you’re headlining Wembley? Fking dogsdick🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you 😀
Yeah ! Thanks
Thank you 😀
I really want to get a PRS Pauls Guitar but it’s almost impossible here in germany. Only some scam shops with really bad reputations got some or at least they say so.
That's a shame, if you're going to spend that sort of money, why not fly to Birmingham or London and go to one of the reputable U.K. shops and buy one, the flight cost will probably quite low compared to the guitar price.
@@davidupton8100 Thanks for your reply. Thanks to the 70th anniversary of thomann, I am now a proud owner of a limited PRS Custom 24 and damn I‘m so in love!
@@Agantross oh wow that's fantastic news, I also have a Custom 24, great guitars. I have to say that since this video I have struggled to play anything other than my PRS guitars. I genuinely think they are the best out there. Congratulations, enjoy yours.
@@davidupton8100 Oh yeah, I can't walk past it without playing on it. 🎸
Nice job my friend. Really sweet tones. I’m glad you love your prs I know I love my Studio 22.
Many thanks, I'm convinced they don't make a bad guitar
What you are able to do with a guitar is incredible. Also, I picked up on on the Satriani vibe right away, you nail that big time... so, I don't have an Apocalypse - but I did buy a Hellraiser Hybrid C1FRS with Sustainiac (Ultraviolet) recently. What do you think, how do they compare? Does the Apocalypse blow the Hellraiser out of the water? Anyway, I'm hoping to be 1/10th as talented as you some day. Thanks for the awesome video, Dave.
Wow, thanks Jim that's really kind, Satriani is my hero (met him last year again). I do try and have my own style but heavily influenced by him and to me I could only wish to be 1/10th of what he is. I've never played the Hellraiser but it's a great looking guitar and spec, I would think it's equally as good. You have a great guitar my friend, concentrate on your tone and technique. I use a Helix Modelling system for all my effects and amp/cab modelling.
Very tasteful! I really enjoyed all the work you put into this.
This is very good. Very tasteful! Subscribed. 💥
Thanks Kevin, I really appreciate that.
That is excellent tracking!
I have a Clapton Strat truly amazing guitar . I had a custom shop Malmsteen Strat - great guitar if your a shredder but I can't . 🇺🇸✨✨✨🎸🎸✅✅
Awesome!!
Great review Dave! I am thinking about a Paul's Guitar and your review really helped me out - thanks so much!
You're welcome, go try one out alongside some other PRS's make sure the neck and tone suits you.
Just come onto your channel and this is brilliant, looking forward to see more on your channel. Did you do the tabs or can they be brought, i haven't been playing too long at at 60 in July just keep myself to easy tabs for my own enjoyment and making the wife suffer 😂😂
Hi Peter, sorry only just noticed your comment, thanks very much. I play by ear off scales and music theory so no unfortunately I don't have tabs. On this, I took the original music and wrote my own sections of melody around all the parts. I'll have a look and see if I can see any anywhere.
Lovely looking guitar, is it a se model. Cheers
Thanks, no it's a core
Nice guitar Dave, sounds awesome. Big fan of the natural backs. Did you make any truss rod adjustments after going to 009's? Also you said Pauls guitar was to replace a Les Paul because of weight, how come you didn't go for a 594?
Thanks Dave, I expected to make truss rod adjustments but didn't have to. On the Les Paul question, I looked at the 594, Studio and Paul's and the switching and tone of the Paul's just blew me away. Maybe not a direct replacement, but just the best on the day (subjective of course).
@@davidupton8100 Thanks for the reply Dave I suspected it was the tone combinations of Pauls guitar. which you went for. I've got a 594 with 10.s on but I'm thinking of going to 09's
@@davebridge5580 TBH the 594 was right up there re: Les Paul tones, they're all great guitars. I have a Custom 24 which I've had for 12 years and that has needed neck adjustment for 9's but it's really easy, just very minor tweaks and patience. Also you typically need to adjust the intonation slightly. I love my Ibanez, Fenders, Gibsons (in that order) but the PRS's come top for me.
I have fishman tripleplay wireless and miditech pianobox mini2. How to set midi to play only on one midi channel. Now every string plays on one channel (1-6)
Does it still have the G Force? mine has it. I love it, but sometimes it is struggeling
No, I switched it for Grovers. I found it screwed up on stage, weirdly seemed to pick sound up (maybe vibrations) from other things and lose the plot.
@@davidupton8100 yeah had this too, and if you don't use it in a while it gets confused. but I still like it
Great playing. What kind of amp or pedals did you use for this video?
Many thanks Hans, I use a Line 6 Helix Floor for effects and Amp and Cab modelling so I'm primarily using a Soldano amp model here with a mixture of settings for clean and lead.
I thought this would be a review of the owners.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
