I watched the whole video and I read through most the comments and I have not heard the ram mentioned. I would like to see more than 16gb of ram for this unit. Also I think a big edge for this new upgraded Claw would be the ability to boot from SD cards in the bios.
Well, we don't know if it's going to be a 16 or 32 gig version of the chips yet. Let's hope it's the 32 for the new Ultra 7 because the Ultra 7's iGPU for at least Meteor Lake used up every little bit of RAM, so in the end it ended up being only as good as the Ultra 5 in games.
Their better sw frontend will also improve the already released claw. Glad to see that they worked out their handheld. More competitors mean lower prices in general. ☮️
32GB minimum RAM should be applicable for gaming these days with the cheap cost of memory. Also, the biggest thing is that it needs to be ultra competitive on pricing as a good gaming laptop will cost the same as some handhelds and provide a more potent spec sheet
Hopefully that's not the only color, like; a graphite or dark grey option would be cool. At the very least 24GB like the Ally X so we are not trying to starve the system ram/vram. The original Claw had an accessories package, hopefully we get one right at release as well.

I really dont understand why most of these companies dont add dual trackpads for more input buttons and more than two back remappable buttons for their handhelds. The steam deck is the best when it comes to this but just lacks the power. These companies really need to understand that we're playing pc games that most require tons of different key binds. If im buying a PC handheld and not an xbox or ps handheld..then simply add these important key components for us pc players. Thank you Valve for getting this right on your first handheld 👏
@@1uponu705 they probably did their market research and a majority of those players said they didn't care for a trackpad. So it makes no sense to mass produce something that has a feature that 99% of the people don't care for. Would it make navigating windows easier? Yes. Would sell a lot less if the device was 20usd more expensive because of it? Probably also yes.
I don’t feel it’s that necessary. A nice to have if it’s well positioned, but not required. I’m actually surprised how well the ally mouse works with joysticks
@FrostArchon I'm not saying to add them just for navigating but to use for more keybinds. The steam deck trackpads has some pretty cool features within them, just like their steam controller. With pc games that has plenty of keybinds, they're perfect for that use. You can even use the right trackpad for aiming and with gyro, even the sticks has a touch feature that enables gyro as well. Yall should look up some vids on the steam deck trackpads and its 4 mappable back buttons to understand more of what I'm getting at. And by pc games I'm meaning PC only type of games that require a lot of keybinds to even play. Theres TONS of shooters and other genres that require plenty of keybinds that a controller just won't cut it. U simply have to give Valve their props. Again only negative about the steam deck oled, is that it lacks the power. I promise if it had the same process power as the Ally X and same screen size as the lenovo legion go with vrr. 1:36 you mention two different upscalers but did you get to see what scaling ratio they used? Im mostly asking this cause XeSS 1.3 performance isnt the same as FSR Performance. In matter of fact it renders at an even lower res than Fsr Perf.
Actually looks promising based on what's been talked about so far with the new Intel chips. They've sacrificed some ultimate performance but seem to have focused on giving really good efficiency at more moderate to high performance. Then of course they've really gone to town on the GPU upgrade. Hopefully it all pans out and if it does, this is what the original Claw should have been!
If this really is 16% faster than the new Ryzen ai9 then i am interested but ill wait for people like you to put out real world tests and information before i trust it.
So, Intel actually arrived with strong iGPU. Wonder how AMD can answer to this?An APU with less CPU cores and higher power limit for gpu part? Quad channel memory?
It's not really stronger, it's on par with the 890m on average, but intel's 1% and framtimes are way better, like twice as good. Plus, Intel's RT is better than nvidia with this new architectures.
@@Patrick-y4d1zthe Z2 Extreme has to be a proper custom chip this time if it wants to compete against intel in efficiency. The Z1 Extreme was a 7780U almost to the bone. Finally a gaming handheld device with a 2280 nvme ssd. The largest capacity on amazon with the 2230 nvme ssd is just a measly 2tb when games are getting are larger. Meanwhile, the largest 2280 nvme ssd on amazon is 8tb and having 2tb is barely enough when having huge library of games from steam, epic games, gog games and, roms and running emulators as well as downloading and running a bunch of android apps and games with bluestacks with the devices that run windows 11 and even possibly dual boot linux on the gaming handheld gaming device. Even having the option to sideload android apk apps on windows 11 with the handheld gaming device. The 8tb 2280 nvme ssd is expensive but hopefully the large capacity should be enough to storage as much games as possible.
I'd love for one of those big manufacturers to innovate a little. Give us a clamshell pocketable form factor with keyboard, please! GPD and Aya have done it but I'd prefer a company that is more available worldwide.
Intel in a portable, Nothing I would pre-order. Need to see the whole picture before I would even think of it... Personally, I would love to see an AMD killer (giving HUGE boost over AMD products) with a really good price point. $800+ for a new gaming console is just way too much. I do not have a lot of hope on this one after the last Claw... Overall, looks like a nice device, that D-pad needs to be fixed, maybe those plastic panels could be swapped out for different colors. This would add a high level of customable mods for it. Having 3rd parties doing crazy stuff would be fun awesome.
The analog stick on the right side is too low and centered with the buttons meaning it will put more strain on the hands and take longer to transition from using the right stick to buttons and back. They need to fix that. No one in the engineering department tested it to play games?
Lunar Lake does seem really impressive. As good of a battery life as ARM chips, perhaps even more, more performance per watt than their direct competitor AMD, and still running on x86. Maybe Intel has finally done it
i find it odd these big OEMs have no talk of OLED pannels. Also it's strange they go with 1200p rather than standard 1080p. I wonder if some people have forgotten that 1080 is actually a smaller resolution, I'm just saying noone is running games above 1080 on these things anyway so is this just the pannel they could source for it or did they choose a less optimal resolution?
Got my refurbed low End Claw for 330 Euros last week. I have only played Diablo 4 and Hifi Rush so far. I tried a Logitech G Cloud with Xbox Game Pass before that. This feels actually substantually better, especially since its one a few euros more. Well expect for its battery run time. Hoping Lunar Lake will improve on that.
I just returned my Legion Go due to overheating and I still can't see any other handheld as a possible replacement. 7" screen is just too small. I already have a Switch. This MSI handheld at least goes up to 8". Now, if that was 8" OLED, we would be somewhere interesting. Zotac Zone looks neat, but 7" is just too small!
Seeing that this supports 2280 m.2, I wonder if future handhelds will start abandoning 2230. Their capacities are just too small and too expensive for some
looks very good indeed, i would love it to be full black though, don't like this color, i'd also rather see a 16:9 display rather than 16:10, or at least oled. But anyway, AMD already said that Z2e with strix point is coming next year too in handhelds so i'd like to see some comparison between laptops with Lunar Lake and Strix point, to see if Intel really is 16% faster in most games, and how their gaming drivers actually are
Oculink is beyond stupid on a handheld, I would even prefer Asus XG mobile port before oculink. Sure, oculink is better for a eGPU, but that’s it. Usbc is so much more flexible and wildly more compatible. Not to mention the hassle that is using oculink and on a small handheld I’m sure it’s annoying to set up. I would have preferred a thunderbolt 5 port at least since this is an intel based chip and also should be compatible once the standard launches at the end of the year. Trigger stoppers can be nice for those who want it, but not that useful in a handheld.
@@AD-ll4iz not really. If we want 2 usbc ports it likely takes most of the IO. Unless you go with something huge like the oneX player it doesn't make much sense
It looks great, just need some color changes, the graphics Intel showed for Xe2 is very interesting, they said is better than Ryzen Ai 9HX 370 in games but lets see the reviews and the size of the battery and watts used in the SoC
2:43 I think you are overlooking those people that might buy this just as a handheld for their indie titles like Hades, hollow knight and celeste. If you already got a lot more performance than you really need, then you could just save a bit and go with the lower end chip
Controllers need to evolve. Steam Deck's additional duo trackpads, 4 x back buttons and extra shoulder macro buttons ought to be a minimum standard. edit. I mean 4 x shoulder buttons in addition to the 2 x triggers AND 6 x accompanying macro buttons next to them at the top of the controllers. These are still PCS so have to use as much of the functionality of keyboards and mice/trackpads as possible. Also X-input standard needs to expand to allow additional inputs.
I don't really care about what color it is, but with the way it's designed it looks like it would be easy to make it have swappable plates on the left and right so you could customize it to your liking. SO that would be a nice to have. Beyond that, I'm more concerned about the price point, and what overall system power is on this for it to beat out the 780M. Because if they are just brute forcing it by dumping 30w into it to beat it out at the high end, but can't match it at the lower end then It's still going to be the same issues as with the original claw, especially if they can't get the 0.1% numbers up to reduce how stuttery the thing feels, and this is entirely on Intel, MSI is overall doing great the build quality from everything I have seen has been aces. But intel needs to step up the game, primarily in the driver department. But back to what MSI can do, I'd like to see them give this a little bit more grip on the handles. it looks like overall it's a bit flat, a little more to hold on to would be nice. The Ally X is almost where I would like it and the Steamdeck is honestly probably overcompensating. But somewhere a little more than what the Ally X gives for handholds would go a long way on comfort. But these new handhelds are looking interesting. 80Wh batteries are the new standard, and the Zotac Zone kind of needs to do a quick revision to get one in there so they don't lose market share simply because they don't have the battery power to stay in the race, because they have a lot going for them on their handheld, and are hitting some seriously unique points as well. I hate that I just don't have the income to buy them all. XD

I mean, they're competing against themselves too. The first MSI claw is at like £500 right now. IF this thing comes out at £800, and the MSI Claw has dropped to £400, that's a 100% increase in price for what, 25% more performance?
@@Hovscorpion12 Still the Ally has better APU. ram means nothing if u have bad APU.
Intel can't make good APU, only AMD.
Any intel handheld will be destroyed in the market.
Just like 7800x3d destroyed 14900k, and didnt have degradation.
@@Hovscorpion12 This is clueless comment.

The important thing for this handled will be the drivers for the GPU, if still broken and glitchy it will be limited for a lot of games, this is the time for show they can make GPU.
I daily drive an Arc GPU. The drivers haven't been broken or glitchy for over a year at this point. The only problems are isolated to a select few games.
@@ryanspencer6778 Excellent them, I'm exiting to see what Intel can do how is gonna impact to the GPU market. And this msi claw

They need to add a touchpad, Gyro and lastly a kick stand so i can watch my movies/anime. and for software we need a good standby mode for quick access to games.

This is the future of gaming no need to own a console to play games u just purchased your favorite system and enjoy. I was wrong the whole time using console i see pc better now than console
Depends, more competition and choices are great, but consoles still have a place in terms of ease of use and price
Also no hackers
Excited for new chips after what they presented in launch
Looking very promising! Can't wait to get my hand on this bad boy
Thanks for the mores branded reviews /previews !
32GB minimum RAM should be applicable for gaming these days with the cheap cost of memory.
Also, the biggest thing is that it needs to be ultra competitive on pricing as a good gaming laptop will cost the same as some handhelds and provide a more potent spec sheet
Would be better if those colour side grips were hot swappable so you can buy different colours and designs without buying a whole new unit.
@@Blind-Matter yea that gross bottom is what’s stopping me from wanting one of these over the ally x, this thing is just so ugly
Hopefully that's not the only color, like; a graphite or dark grey option would be cool. At the very least 24GB like the Ally X so we are not trying to starve the system ram/vram. The original Claw had an accessories package, hopefully we get one right at release as well.
When and how much for the 32GB edition?
You know what. I think they're onto something here. The Intel's i-gpu this year may perform better than AMD's, as many reviewers have mentioned. 8 inch and VRR, supports Thunderbolt 4, hall sensor sticks...
Looks good ngl. Don't hate on it too early.
As someone new to this stuff. I need a video just breaking down all the apu's, or whatever is used in mini pc's and handhelds. Because all these names are beyond confusing. I have 0 idea what is better, worse, just ok, or best.
Hopefully this performs well will be nice to have something with a bigger screen like the legion go as i love the legion go screen but find the controls sloppy and software lacking on the go
Any predictions about the price?
They're the only ones that did it right with the ABXY buttons by having them backlit.
Finally one 8 inch, this one is for me.
You're sick
The ROG Ally X is a mature, proven product that I can buy today. That's what I'd get.
“Mature, proven” It literally came out less than 2 months ago what are you waffling about?
Not worth the price there are laptops with 4060s for the same price
@@raikaru0it is mature in the same way the Deck OLED was mature at launch. The software is pretty much all there but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t add more
Try to attach controllers to the laptop and lay down on the bed too. I know what you saying but those are 2 diff devices.@Asfanboy1
Id get the x model because of alot of Asus sd card issues and their customer service sucks good luck with them fixing it even under warranty.
Proper performance comparisons remains to be seen, but Intels Arc drivers still have issues.
Have the 155 claw. Hope they can optimise it as much as possible before the new one releases.
Now this is what we need! Kudos to Intel and MSI.
The bar has been set for cruddy handheld names. 😂
If you're passing on information, can we get a non proprietary user replaceable battery
It's cheaper to make it's cheaper on them to manufacture
They would get a lot of right to repair goodwill and a customer out of me, and I'm sure many others
Thank you Valve for getting this right on your first handheld 👏
dont forget additional ram option like rog ally x did
Track pads makes the handheld bigger like the deck, LGo, and Zotac.
Everyone would majority choose vavle
This looks amazing, so far all I could really ask for is a black colour variant
Thought they would test it with more demanding games
The heat fins on the top/back exhaust do not look like they fit the chassis properly. I know this not the final product but I hope that is something that gets addressed before swinging into full mass production.
I don't understand the chart at 7:00. The differences will be next to unnoticeable.
Also, tell them to take the AI+ out of the name. It will actually hurt sales.
This device looks really awesome! The graphics performance appears to be above AMD but power will be lower so overall it should look better and last longer. I can't wait to get one!
This looks awesome. I love the aesthetics. I hope the new Intel CPUs and Graphics are impressive.
Seems legit, waiting for prices and performance.
2 things I don't like
1. It's gonna be heavy
2. The black border with the MSI brand Is totally unnecessary
where else they gonna put their name on :D
@@flandrble like... In the back? Saving at least one cm in length? It's a waste of space and makes the device even bulkier

It's gonna be a 2025 launch. By then there should be more companies showing off their Lunar Lake-based handhelds most likely at CES 2025.
A better screen - OLED, 144hz, vrr, 1080p and 8 inch :)
An option to choose between 3 different colors, would be nice.
1:36 you mention two different upscalers but did you get to see what scaling ratio they used? Im mostly asking this cause XeSS 1.3 performance isnt the same as FSR Performance. In matter of fact it renders at an even lower res than Fsr Perf.
They aren't using upsvallers, I don't think f1 even uses it
Is the screen landscape or portrait? Is a question that needs to be asked.
It’s looks really good, love the design
We need this processor in the legion go 2 for sure!!!! 💯💯💯
Do you think this will be better than asus rog ally x? Im more questioning the igpu performance for gaming

no. we named it AI+ though.

Wow the specs are crazy!
We don't know how good it is though as we don't really have many benchmarks.
I could also see AMD releasing a Zen 2 Xtreme also.
@@Patrick-y4d1zthe Z2 Extreme has to be a proper custom chip this time if it wants to compete against intel in efficiency. The Z1 Extreme was a 7780U almost to the bone. But now if it wants that 890M gpu they’ll have to for the ryzen AI 9 HX370 which is absolutely ridiculous for a handheld. 12 cores is excessive and will take a lot of power away from the gpu. Sure, it scales quite well with lower wattage, but it won’t be enough. It needs less cores, preferably 8.
@@Sumire9287
Intel tends to have far worse efficiency than AMD though, so I don't see your argument here.
As for AI 9 HX370, I mean, its wattage is inline with the Z1 Xtreme. So hadly "absolutely ridiculous" if they can get the pricing right.
Typically it has far worse efficiency, however Lunar Lake's existence partially hinges on the fact it's supposed to be a good performance per watt part. @@Patrick-y4d1z
8Xe Cores of battle mage, just by density, are something like 16Xe Cores of Alchemist
16Xe Cores of Alchemist are only at the Arc Pro A660 (most close it would be desktop A550 ) -- and that have performance of GTX 1660
ofc 8Xe Battlemage will be stronger than 16Xe Alchemist
so at the WORST, we could assume that MSI Claw 8 iGPU could be giving us a performance of desktop GTX 1650 / 1660
and that sounds GREAT
You're assuming it will come with the 8Xe core Lunar Lake chips. There are lower tier Lunar Lake CPUs with only 7Xe cores and lower clock speeds.
@@Dr.D00p I am not assuming. It was already confirmed many times that 140V is made out of 8Xe Battlemage, while 130V is made out of 7Xe Battlemage.
And it was confirmed yesterday that next MSI Claw (now shown) will use 140V iGPU
😨
So basically a Radeon 890m....
@@jesusbarrera6916 is 890m even accesable in low power laptops? No it is only available in overpriced „mini pcs” from pike 2-3 chinese companies, and fat gaming laptops that already comes with dGPU and still will take like x2 more power just on APU
Soo ye, great thing
I'm very excited about this gadget! I'll wating the release date and get mine...
As and owner of the Ally X, I wish that we got a bigger and better screen. That 8' looks much more at home in that chassis. I think that the screen size and lack of oculink support are my only complaints aside from ASUS as a company.
Shame there is no trackpad given that the larger battery & screen seem to add a perfectly suitable place beneath the right analog stick
I want the Ultra 9 version and to keep the price down as much as they can. I will buy this IF it works out.
I'd love for one of those big manufacturers to innovate a little. Give us a clamshell pocketable form factor with keyboard, please! GPD and Aya have done it but I'd prefer a company that is more available worldwide.
Looks amazing and the specs are excellent. Waiting for prices. ☮️
Six button (A,B,C X,Y,Z), improve the shoulder buttons to the the same or better than ally, and a trackpad.
I hope can test this perf soon.
The analog stick on the right side is too low and centered with the buttons meaning it will put more strain on the hands and take longer to transition from using the right stick to buttons and back. They need to fix that. No one in the engineering department tested it to play games?
Yes, the placement on my Asus Rog Ally X is much better. The right stick is too low on the MSI handheld.
Lunar Lake does seem really impressive. As good of a battery life as ARM chips, perhaps even more, more performance per watt than their direct competitor AMD, and still running on x86. Maybe Intel has finally done it
I probably gonna wait for z2 extreme
i find it odd these big OEMs have no talk of OLED pannels.
I wanna see some of these handhelds PCs do Atomic purple shells
That would sell bro.. that would absolutely sell well
What cartoon looking gaming is being played on the Claw? It looks fun!
Hifi rush
Got my refurbed low End Claw for 330 Euros last week. I have only played Diablo 4 and Hifi Rush so far. I tried a Logitech G Cloud with Xbox Game Pass before that. This feels actually substantually better, especially since its one a few euros more. Well expect for its battery run time. Hoping Lunar Lake will improve on that.
I wonder could I get a g cloud or another handheld and stream moonlight from my asus rog ally and play from the other
I’m probably going to get this 😮
I just returned my Legion Go due to overheating and I still can't see any other handheld as a possible replacement. 7" screen is just too small. I already have a Switch. This MSI handheld at least goes up to 8". Now, if that was 8" OLED, we would be somewhere interesting. Zotac Zone looks neat, but 7" is just too small!
It has best cooling from all 😂😂😂 kiddy ....
The first two limes of specs don't mean a goddamn thing to me, since I don't know them. Are they faster than i7 gen 12, for instance?
I would love a black and silver version.
We want the Nintendo Switch 2 already 🙏🏽
Nice to see 8'' screen as 7 definitely too small Msi should add removable battery too 😊
Seeing that this supports 2280 m.2, I wonder if future handhelds will start abandoning 2230. Their capacities are just too small and too expensive for some
looks very good indeed, i would love it to be full black though, don't like this color, i'd also rather see a 16:9 display rather than 16:10, or at least oled. But anyway, AMD already said that Z2e with strix point is coming next year too in handhelds so i'd like to see some comparison between laptops with Lunar Lake and Strix point, to see if Intel really is 16% faster in most games, and how their gaming drivers actually are
Love the VO
oculink port and trigger stopers for that long wait
Oculink is beyond stupid on a handheld, I would even prefer Asus XG mobile port before oculink. Sure, oculink is better for a eGPU, but that’s it. Usbc is so much more flexible and wildly more compatible. Not to mention the hassle that is using oculink and on a small handheld I’m sure it’s annoying to set up. I would have preferred a thunderbolt 5 port at least since this is an intel based chip and also should be compatible once the standard launches at the end of the year. Trigger stoppers can be nice for those who want it, but not that useful in a handheld.
@@Sumire9287 I just wanted because I have a egpu dock with both oculink and thunderbolt 4 would love try both
you know we could have both....
@@AD-ll4iz not really. If we want 2 usbc ports it likely takes most of the IO. Unless you go with something huge like the oneX player it doesn't make much sense

is umpc gonna be as mainstream as laptop or are we already there?
Will u also be doing one on the acer handheld?
I'm waiting for the Zotac Zone to replace my Legion Go - Zotac has track pads & an OLED screen
The size looks good.
XD
