It all depends on the type of baitfish that are being targeted along with the size of the person who will be throwing the net. For kids, sticking with the height of the child is a good gauge. But for adults, the size of the net can grow much higher than height... I was throwing a 12 ft net when I was in high school (6 ft tall & skinny). But if going after smaller baitfish in shallow water, a 6 to 8 ft net can be all that is needed.
Catching fish makes it fun so cast netting up some bait for the adults can keep a kid occupied for a while. Great tip.
