WALKING HOME for Christmas 2021 - Lake District to North Yorkshire on the Coast to Coast Footpath

- In 2021 I set myself the challenge of walking home for Christmas. I would follow the Coast to Coast footpath, starting in the Lake District and finishing in North Yorkshire in time for Christmas. The Coast to Coast footpath would take me through some of the most picturesque landscapes the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales has to offer, from the summit of Helvellyn to the vast open moorland of Swaledale.
Too often we rely on our cars to take us places and after what had been a dark and dreary couple of months I was keen for a challenge. Walking home for Christmas on the Coast to Coast footpath, whilst minimising my impact on the environment and maximising my time in the outdoors seemed like a great way to spend the holiday.

Sometimes we forget that walking is simple we get caught up with kit and life in general 👍
Absolutely, some of the greatest challenges can be the simplest, you don’t need all the newest gear for an adventure 👍

That was superb Betty. I didn't see your latest videos notified - I literally popped in to see if you had uploaded. Glad I did. It was a fantastic route back home and so worth it. I catch buses out and walk back - never a duff walk. How good is that to ne rescued by your mate and spend the next day together. Great stuff as was your father. He was stoked to be out with you. And to finish off with your mum was a treat. Awesome traiol throughout. Good going. Mark

Enjoyed that , just got sent home from work today as I was a wee bit ill, laid in my bed here and thought let's see if i can find something to fall asleep too , nope I was thoroughly enjoying that and sleep can come afterwards. Good stuff 👏 👍

Thank you so much 😊 It wasn’t too bad, got chiller across the moors. I couldn’t believe how quiet the trail was, apparently it’s a great time to hike as everyone is (cleverly) keeping warm indoors.
