Literally just finished re-watching Peep Show yesterday. I'm just a normal functioning member of the human race and there's no way anyone can prove otherwise!
Matt Berry is just a Genius, Toast of London is endlessly quotable, but its the way he delivers the lines, Fire the Nuclear weapons, Yes!! And Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango, leave you crying with laughter, hope we get more adventures with Stephen Toast soon.
Peep Show & Flea Bag are my comfort shows. But I also love Black Books, the IT Crowd, the Office, The Inbetweeners, and Derry Girls. I haven’t seen the others 🇦🇺🦘 another one I watch a lot of is David Walliams and Matt Lucas - Little Britain.
I also like Shameless 2004, Crashing 2016, Ghosts 2019, the Young Ones ( pre-2000 = 1982), Ab Fab ( pre 2000s = 1992), and heaps more! I’m in Australia but grew up watching them all here, and still love UK tv. We also loved /love watching all the UK detective shows. In the 1990s I also loved Queer as Folk, 1999, and so many more…
@@jacquilane5447The minute I read Peep Show and Fleabag are your comfort shows, I knew I would be blindly checking out every other show you mentioned. Those might just be my two favourite comedy shows ever. Sure enough, I also love The IT Crowd, The Office, Crashing, and Derry Girls. Little Britain is hilarious at first but starts to wear slightly thin over the course of its runtime since each character’s ‘trope’ is essentially repeated ad nauseam with the smallest of modifications (which is also why I thought Come Fly With Me was funnier on the whole - check that out if you haven’t seen it). I reckon you’d also enjoy The Thick of It and Extras if you haven’t seen them!
@@raghavvenkatesh8604@raghavvenkatesh8604 I also loved Queer as Folk - with Charlie Hunnan, Flowers, - a dark comedy about some eccentric family members 2016 - 2018, two of them are married in real life. And I love 'The Windsors'. Come Fly With Me was very funny. Thanks.
While I'm glad Vicious got an honorable mention, I'd have put it in the Top 10 for the chemistry between Sir Derek Jacobi and Sir Ian McKellen. Such brilliant one-liners and snide little remarks that I still find myself quoting even now.
@@WinsberryEntertainment DG lacks an ending, which makes the ending an anti-climax. We don't know what qualifications they get, if they go to university, what jobs they go on to do or even want to do, and none of them have relationships.

Ted Lasso?
Seeing your list of classics, just shows me how far comedy has fallen in the UK. Nothing in the list above, could ever top Only Fools, Vicar Of Dibley, Mr Bean and Keeping Up Appearances.
How can anybody not like Black Books. One of the best sitcoms ever. And it's no coincidence Matt Berry is on this list several times, the guy is just brilliant at delivering terrible dialogue and lying unconvincingly. He's always watchable. As you said though, Extras was a great show. The one where Val Kilmer rips off Warwick Davis is darkly hilarious and shows Kilmer is actually game enough to laugh at his own image, although the scene where Samuel L Jackson is surrounded by Maggies doll collection is jaw droppingly hilarious and totally unexpected. Kudos to Jackson for going along with the joke and it's probably not something anyone would dare do in these woke times. Surprised Little Britain isn't on here. I know it's controversial and sometimes went a a bit too far but it was full of memorable characters and very funny dialogue.
So 'The Detectorists' and 'Car Share' did not even get an honourable mention, that is just poor. Another great comedy that sadly only got one series was Wasted
You seem to have omitted shows that began in the 1990s but continued into this century. Such as Spaced, I'm Alan Partridge, and The Royle Famiy. Or did you not thing those sitcoms were good enough, even for a worthy mention. Other humdinger omissions are People Just Do Nothing and This Country.

I like most of these shows, but outside of Derry Girls, no female leads. Miranda? Catherine Tate Show? There were a few on here that are ok, but I would put Gavin and Stacey on this list. Not as an honorable mention, and Ghosts. There have been so many great shows this century, I feel like this list is lacking a bit.
So many great british sitcoms missed off this list, where is Ted Lasso? Benidorm? Peter Kay Car Share? Ghosts? Not Going Out s1-5? Extras? Plus Friday Night Dinner definitely deserved more than an honourable mention.

Pretty bad list. Black Books and IT Crowd not up the top (insulting to have it behind the Inbetweeners) and no mention of either Green Wing nor the Detectorists!
Best British comedy shows: The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh, Blackadder, Derry Girls, Red Dwarf, Still Game (you will need subtitles because of the accents).

The IT Crowd because of Richard Ayoade completely. I pretty much love everything he has done, even Travelman and Gadgetman!!
