    Fantastic video, very well done. Planning for a base camp and surrounding areas hike in the next few years and this information was incredible.

    I solved the altitude problem with Mount Everest. You guys can go there and freeze your cojones off. I bought a new Mount Everest calendar at the dollar store. I have nice beautiful pictures each month of the mountain. Have fun guys! I’m enjoying these beautiful pictures of Mount Everest chillin’ here in Miami Beach!

    I'm a nerd so I was hoping for a little more science... Like let's talk capillary hydrostatic pressure causing the edema and how pressure and volume are inversely proportional therefore things expand up there :-)

    What are time limits for survival above 8,000 metres and what happens?

    Awesome. Wait a second about pooping in the snow. I thought climbers were required to bag it up so it wouldn't contaminate water etc further down the mountain when snow thaws?

      Not yet, though it would probably be sensible if some guidelines or regulations were imposed.

      Every animal on the planet poops on the ground and no one complains about that. Heck even humans did until a few hundred years ago. Bagging up the poo from a desolate area and bringing it back to an urban area to dispose of it makes zero sense.

      @@MrAdamdumont89 humans did until a hundred years ago and it killed thousands by cholera and other waterborne diarrheal infections. By now we can do better.

      Peppertree133 T The point is, all those bacteria already exist in virtually every body of water already. That’s why all municipal water supplies are treated. Humans not pooping on the mountain won’t change your water

      @@MrAdamdumont89 maybe, but the level/ concentration of, say, e. coli bacteria matters, not just the fact that it's in there. They close beaches based on high levels of e coli, but not bc they're just there.

    Stupid question but can climbers remove their blood from lower altitude and 're' inject when at higher altitude for some sort of relief or substantive performance advantage with regards to reaching the summit and back down?

    • @divinecommerce3912
      @divinecommerce3912 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This could backfire, as the body compensates for altitude and kidneys thicken the blood with EPO to increase RBC's/Hematocrit as you ascend. Good old deep breathing, nutrition, and hydration are key but I like your inquisitive mind. You would also want to avoid running an IV line because if the puncture gets infected, it will heal much slower up there. Always lots of hidden factors in medicine.

    They say 80% of climbers don't belong on this mountain.. she didn't look so comfortable crossing that ice ladder

      Well her only safety was holding on to the ropes, and due to the heavy backpack she was carrying, I don't think she would be able to hold on to those ropes in case of a balance loss. Unless she was a power lifter which she definitely didn't look like.

    What sort of achievement is that when you have everything set up and even others carrying your crap. Climb the mountain and carry your own stuff, be a real mountaineer!

    Poo in the snow! Which doesn't decompose at altitude. High camps stink. The highest rubbish dump on earth is disgusting. Now K2 is becoming disgusting too. Disgraceful from braggart climbers. No love for the mountains. Just pollution.
