I actually like this UI, it also avoids things like accidental side switch operation and electronic tail switches. Its downsides are easily overcome by covering the light when switching to low modes and realising your thumb is nearest the tailswitch when deploying or storing the light anyway.
You realize the old fenix lights and some of the new ones are still like this right? No one got angry about that. I can't see the anger over the way they went old skool with this light. I think a lot of people have just moved from practicality to enthusiasts.
I get that he doesn't like the interface but he didn't have to rant about it about 11 times. There are plenty of other lights from Acebeam and many other Manufacturers that have the interface he so painfully prefers. I feel quite the opposite and love the interface, It is simplicity personified. For most users, it is a much better interface for general use as it allows extremely easy momentary activation of the light at any desired memorised setting so they can eg enter a dark room without blinding themselves to fetch something which often only requires a few seconds of illumination by holding in the rear clicky in. The only thing I would change would be to allow turbo by double clicking the tailswitch and activating moonlight mode by holding in the sideswitch before pressing the tailswitch. This is how Olight designed the M1X Striker, for example, and I love it! It could also do with more brightness levels so there isn't such a huge jump from moonlight to low eg 3lm, 10lm, 50lm, 100lm etc.
The T35 needs the UI of the L35/L19. It's as simple as that and it would instantly make the T35 a winner. They have the perfect 2-switch system UI with the L35/L19. If it needed to be bigger to allow for an inner barrel, fine. Do it. You can sacrifice that small size increase for an amazing UI that would make the T35 a great light.
They most likely do that in order to avoid accidental activations in your pocket. Understandable but nothing that a recessed side button, or a protruding retaining ring couldn't solve and you lose so much utility. Personally i am used to lights working like that, like my Nitecore mh12pro or the Wurkkos fc12, i just naturally developed a way to quickly slide the light into my hand in order to be able to reach the side button with my pinky without the need to change grips. Thrunite tn12pro for example though it has the perfect Ui and you can operate the light directly from the side button falls into the trap of it being accidentally switched on inside your pocket (according to reports from other users) and that's a bigger dealbreaker to me than this ui you demonstrated right there. If thrunite would care to solve the accidental activation problem with a retaining ring that protrudes higher than the side switch then we would really talk about the perfect tactical/edc flashlight out there hands down... I am really looking forward for Thrunite to make that upgrade or i will probably have to try and source out some other thicker retaining rings or do a mod to their stock one
Would like to see acebeam take this and make it similar to the streamlight strion 2020 with the dual switch setup as well as a toggle switch for outputs
I would prefer the sideswitch to not turn the light on/off. For that to work, it would require an e-switch in the tail for both the tail and the sideswitch to work. I feel like the button is supposed counter a different problem. Lights with mechanical tails but cycle using half presses. That is the worst. This kind of configuration allows you to have no mode cycling in the tail switch and maintain mechanical switch.
What if you clicked into any memorized mode and THEN reclicked the tailswitch (half press)? Could you push it into a Turbo mode with maybe 2 half clicks?
I agree with you, why do lights have to have a side and tail switch, this go for ALL light companies. Till this day I never understood why they are designed this way.
Really liking the look of this light, just a shame about the UI. The setup you described with turbo on the tail switch and other modes from the side switch with mode memory plus long press shortcut to ultra low. For me this is the way all of these duel switch lights should operate. Does anyone actually dislike that setup, always makes me wonder why it isn't the standard UI for all manufacturers.
It is mind boggling how some-one at Acebeam makes the decision that this is a good implementation of the switches. You'd love to be a fly on the wall when that gets agreed and signed off. Ask Acebeam if they can send you some footage of this meeting lol. They are not the only culprit though. All brands do similarly weird things though Acebeam perhaps more than others. I even hate the levels on the Pokelit with Nichia. Moonlight, high and turbo. No low or medium? Who came up with that? Bet it was the same guy who did these switches! and then the Nichia TAC AA has levels reversed when using an NIMH. You should do an awards video for the stupidest most irritating thing that a light brand has come up with.
I always find it really frustrating when an otherwise great light is spoiled by one dumb design decision. This type of slim 18650 light with a tail and side switch is probably my favourite style of light to carry if the UI is done right but a lot of manufacturers seem to use the same setup as the T35 for some reason. The Armytek partner C2 and Powertac M5 both have the same problem.

The Olight Warrior 3 is a better option in my opinion..That side switch situation is terrible and dumb

UI is similar to the Sofirn SP31 V2.0. I quite like it for a tail/side switch light. Momentary for last used brightness setting is quite useful.

Your 100 percent right. No side switch makes this light way better.

You may go for the TN12pro or Warrior 3s for the 2-switch UI...
If only the T35 was ... the T36.

I like the look of this light, and I could possibly look past the bad UI. But the no tail stand is a big deal breaker for me these days.
I'd put it in the "Outdoor" flashlight category with that UI. Okay if you're wandering around a park. Not so great for tactical purposes.

Hmmm... 🤔 Looks more like a Thrunite TN12 than it does an Acebeam...
Funny I was just reading about it for a gift
that thing is similar to a weltool gadamn
If you just bought a mic, these videos would be so much better.
Thanks mate! That is next on my list to buy! Appreciate you giving me the push i needed to go get one

I have 3 different Acebeam lights, they all have really bad clicky buttons. Will never buy Acebeam again only because of this.
even worse than P16 UI
