    Cam I am impressed with your constant improvement. Your videos are going from strength to strength, in my opinion. I like the way you keep it real, identify where you are and don't get sucked down the advertorial route like some others have done (eg TT who I have stopped following and even RD is now very product focused).

    Great memories, such a shame the shacks at Gardner river are built up, they use to be free camping shacks. Good call not crossing the river, drowned an 80 series in similar conditions coming from windy harbour. Good video mate

    Been to all these spots many a time. You did a great job capturing this beaut part of WA, I can actually think of 3 huts I've been too off the top of my head with the exact same fireplace made from truck rims. Pretty cool! Cooked up a nice potato bake outside that hut on a winters night, judging by next week's teaser you went to fish creek along the beach , oh boy does it get soft and sketchy! 😂

    Hi Cam everyone is under the impression that the old Hut burned down with the Northcliffe Fires but this is so un true. I was there just after the Fires and the Original Hut was saved.
    The original hut had an open fire Place and all the internals have been renovated by DPAW but the roof & roof timber is original i still have pictures some where of the original Fire place and internals.

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been using a Smart Space fry pan.
      Removeable handle, fits in travelbuddy (thats where I store it), works on induction cooker and I've been using it on the fire too.

    • @Ordinary-_-Guy
      @Ordinary-_-Guy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WildTouring Cheers, I’ll put that one on the list I think. It’s a pitty you didn’t head into the grey camping area where those huts were that you pointed to. There is a track through the dunes and it would have only been a short drive. That is of course if you could cross the river mouth, was it open? I cross it many many many years ago in my old Toyota Surf. Was pretty deep back then.

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah I'm not sure why Google shows it as closed, it's definitely still open to camp in. Theres some more info on it on the DPAW site - but basically its open to campers for $11 a night, and can't be booked.

    Hi Cam, Good episode, can't wait to see next weeks. I got a question, with the fire ban can you still use a regular camp stove or would you have to have cold meals. My battery setup is not good enough for an air fryer. Just good enough to run my fridge.

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Harry! For the regular seasonal fire ban (November - April) you can still cook on gas (or any other liquid fuel). Just can’t burn solid fuel sources like heat beads, charcoal or wood.
      The only exception is total fire ban days, these are declared on DFES and DPAW websites (over here in the west). They’re generally announced when there’s other fires in the area, there’s been lightning storms or a heat wave. On these days there’s no flame allowed at all. So the only thing you’d be allowed to cook on is an induction plate. There is often total movement bans on these days too, which means you can’t take your vehicle offroad.
