Abstract - Hydropower is currently one of the most used renewable energy sources in Indonesia. Research shows that the electricity generated from hydropower constitutes more than 50% of the total renewable energy produced in Indonesia. Given the country's vast water resources, canal-based hydropower presents an opportunity to generate clean, sustainable electricity while supporting local energy needs. This study evaluates existing and planned canals' technical, economic, and environmental feasibility, focusing on regions with significant canal networks such as Java and Sumatra.
